Finally a post just for us cross breeders. The purpose of this topic is for cross breeders to have a place to discuss their crossbreeding programs and to share crossbreeding secrets and advice with others who may be interested in giving crossbreeding a try. Feel free to talk about your crossbreeding programs and your achievements and failures in crossbreeding.
Please remember to follow the rules of the forum and be informative and helpful. default smiley :-))

*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*

Reminder to all.

Please do not advertise sales or items wanted in this topic. I can turn a blind eye to the covers being offered (as long as they are not blatant advertisements) because we are, after all, trying to help each other progress and there is no filter on public covers for searching for crosses, but items sales and items wanted do not belong in any of the public forums and we have a sales forum for horse sales so please, lets keep our topic clean of the ads.

Thanks everyone

There are reasons for rules and everyone is expected to follow them. There will be no posting of advertisements in this topic and everyone is expected to be respectful. Any disrespect towards fellow players or moderators will not be tolerated. Anyone posting advertisements will receive a forum ban without prior warning. If breaking of rules continues to take place in this topic I will delete it.

Thank you
zepharo

If anyone has personal issues with another player, or needs something back from another player(items/passes), other than covers/fills-please take it to private pms...anymore posting here will mean an instant forum ban without a warning.

Edit by pixiesbite

A reminder that this is not the place for trading/buying/selling BMI, horses or advertising or asking for someone to train your horse.
If any of these things occur, you will be forum banned without prior warning.

Has anyone done a Fry/Vanner Cross? My Arab/Sheltie Mare is not nearly as good of a comp horse as I had thought and I ready to pass her on.
kapbob try rebreeding with tears, as all the horses at the top of the boards will have been bred with tears so unfortunately I don't think he will make top of the boards

That's too bad Horsebabe but still it is a nice foal.

This is frustrating! It is like people see BLUP and they think "Ohh easy win!" I have only gotten 2 wins on my horse. I enter it carefully in comps checking every single horse and then here comes the monsters to mess it all up! Sorry I just needed to vent there for a second. Hope other people are having better luck then I am.

Put fillers in. It helps.
Im very happy with this cross I bred awhile ago, its almost 200 GP in all skill areas c: . Hopefully i'll get some more passes in awhile so i'll be able to train her up soon, but its been busy with school.

Wow, taking a look at the elite rankings I still got a few in the top for their breed group in the elite, I havent bred an elite monster since summer c: . Here are some of the breeds still in the rankings that I see...
My Peruvian Paso is still number 1 in the rankings in elite for its breed for many months
One in Holsteiner (first Holsteiner with 1100 skills, 1200 skills, 1300 skills, 1400 skills, AND 1500 skills)
5 Connemara's that are in the elite ranking for its breed
1 Austrailian Pony
1 Chincoteague Pony
And I have a couple of other breeds that in top in a couple of their breed rankings skills.

Im very happy for how all my crosses turned out to be! c:

I have begun training Champion of the Fey, who is in my Born of Myths tab, and he is going fairly well. I just hope I can get him his wins. My other horse in training is Dryad's Warrior and he had all his wins by 5 and he has finished training. All I need now is to finish rides and any other comps he needs and he's only 5 years 2 months. I'm very happy with it. I'm pretty nervous about training Champion Of The Fey. I really want him to be what I bred him for, but I'm not sure i can get him there.

@sroseys1 I don't put "BLUP" in the name of any howrse I'm BLUPping. I just be very careful about what comps I enter them in and that's the best I can do.

I've reached my conclusion. This horse doesn't want to win. It's not that he can't...he's just against beating others...that's it...whole "I'm better than you" violence thing isn't worth his time...that's my story...

And because of his philosophy, I will *never* complete objective 99 default smiley (li)

Do you guys think I should geld this male? He doesn't have good gp, and I won't use him for breeding.

Thorn was one of my first attempts at cross breeding. He's a Quarter horse/Paint Cross his stats are
Total: 725.59
Stamina 99.28 Gallop 170.82
Speed 141.62 Trot 59.22
Dressage 149.45 Jumping 105.20

Other then working on BULPing my mare is there any way to get the trot skill up over 100 if i decide to do this again
By Retired breeder, 6th December 2011 03:45:01
If you want trot, I would cross a trotting breed into the mix.
By Retired breeder, 6th December 2011 04:18:47
Twilight, i have a pair of foundies with that same attitude, maybe they all came from the same pacifistic school or something.
By Retired breeder, 6th December 2011 04:36:54
Although she's not a cross, it took me ages to get all her wins. Just look at all the 2nd and 3rd places! default smiley (lol)

In the process of bluping an arab to cross to a vanner. Not having much luck with comps.
Twilight I have a foundie you can borrow, enter him in cross and you will have the wins in no time, I used him for my objective 99

@a911245
You know i never thought of that default smiley :-))I'm going to have to do a little research to find a breed that has high trot skills before I try again.

I've breed my Paint with a QH stallion. I hope the baby turns out nice and maybe I'll breed QH Paint crosses.
Have any of you ever had to enter 50 dressage comps before your horse no longer gained skills from them? I am not looking forward to 50 show jumping comps for my latest skiller crossbred Hano, then another 50 comps for his cross country comps...
