Finally a post just for us cross breeders. The purpose of this topic is for cross breeders to have a place to discuss their crossbreeding programs and to share crossbreeding secrets and advice with others who may be interested in giving crossbreeding a try. Feel free to talk about your crossbreeding programs and your achievements and failures in crossbreeding.
Please remember to follow the rules of the forum and be informative and helpful. default smiley :-))

*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*

Reminder to all.

Please do not advertise sales or items wanted in this topic. I can turn a blind eye to the covers being offered (as long as they are not blatant advertisements) because we are, after all, trying to help each other progress and there is no filter on public covers for searching for crosses, but items sales and items wanted do not belong in any of the public forums and we have a sales forum for horse sales so please, lets keep our topic clean of the ads.

Thanks everyone

There are reasons for rules and everyone is expected to follow them. There will be no posting of advertisements in this topic and everyone is expected to be respectful. Any disrespect towards fellow players or moderators will not be tolerated. Anyone posting advertisements will receive a forum ban without prior warning. If breaking of rules continues to take place in this topic I will delete it.

Thank you
zepharo

If anyone has personal issues with another player, or needs something back from another player(items/passes), other than covers/fills-please take it to private pms...anymore posting here will mean an instant forum ban without a warning.

A reminder that this is not the place for trading/buying/selling BMI, horses or advertising or asking for someone to train your horse.
If any of these things occur, you will be forum banned without prior warning.

I got those last few aging points I needed! Yes! So I went ahead and bred myself another foal… This is her. Holsteiner x Purebred Spanish Horse cross; my first of this little section of Iberian Warmblood with intent to keep, blup, and breed!

Bane Symphony DWS, Iberian Warmblood (Holsteiner x PSH) filly

What do you think, everyone?
Fine, a911245, let's take a look at Anias, shall we?

His IBS are:

47.27 Stamina
23.23 Speed
54.21 Dressage
35.48 Gallop
38.06 Trot
33.37 Jumping

His GP in those areas are:

234.13 Stamina
115.12 Speed
268.48 Dressage
175.76 Gallop
188.55 Trot
165.32 Jumping

The percentage is .2 IBS per stat across the board.

The horses current skills do not determine IBS so that has nothing to do with it. Just as long as it is 100 blup.
By Retired breeder, 4th December 2011 20:50:30
Ok, either way, I already have a horse set up for her. Sorry, I was always told differently
FYI, the skiller you bought was only 1000e because the mare is only 70% BLUPed which dropped the IBS about 40 points, so she'll be a good horse, just not as good as she could have been. That's an example of how BLUP affects IBS.

Yes, I understood that when I bought her. Mainly because the highest bidder on her wouldn't have gotten her to the full potential.
By Retired breeder, 4th December 2011 21:34:55
Okay I think this has been resolved and lets end this discussion before it gets out of hand.

I agree sroseys1
Scarred - a true Iberian is a lusitano/ PSH.....and it's a registered cross-breed as long as the horses has 6 points and are judged by the Iberian council in Portugal....

I'm planning on buying one once I get my acreage

I forgot to say thanks for the compliment....

IBS is to do with the BLUP and most top breeders won't breed unless the horse has reached 100BLUP this also determines the IBS as long as both parents have 100BLUP....tears aren't important unless you're skilling

the top teams do what is known as a 1:5 foal - put simply every fifth foal is teared mainly to produce a skillor for the GP

hopefully that make sense

Oh, I know -- a true Iberian, indeed. Iberian horses (using this as a general term for the *true* Iberian, PRE, and PSL) are some of the most beautiful horses in the world, in my humble opinion. But the cross of a Pure Spanish or a Lusitano with a Thoroughbred or warmblood, I've always heard, was registerable/counted as an Iberian warmblood?

I got that wild urge to crossbreed again, so here we are: Two Thoroughbred x Lusitano foals (this colt and this colt), and two Irish Hunter x Lusitano foals (this filly and this colt).

But I got too curious, and went back to a Holsteiner cross -- Holsteiner x Lusitano. These two:

I don't like the foal. I should've tested... >.< Gah!

I think I know what I need. Anyone have any horses with 260gp in Speed and Trot? There aren't any in the private covers. *grumbles* I know the top standies are only at 272 in Speed, but, hey...default smiley (lol)
