Finally a post just for us cross breeders. The purpose of this topic is for cross breeders to have a place to discuss their crossbreeding programs and to share crossbreeding secrets and advice with others who may be interested in giving crossbreeding a try. Feel free to talk about your crossbreeding programs and your achievements and failures in crossbreeding.
Please remember to follow the rules of the forum and be informative and helpful. default smiley :-))

Reminder to all.

Please do not advertise sales or items wanted in this topic. I can turn a blind eye to the covers being offered (as long as they are not blatant advertisements) because we are, after all, trying to help each other progress and there is no filter on public covers for searching for crosses, but items sales and items wanted do not belong in any of the public forums and we have a sales forum for horse sales so please, lets keep our topic clean of the ads.

Thanks everyone

There are reasons for rules and everyone is expected to follow them. There will be no posting of advertisements in this topic and everyone is expected to be respectful. Any disrespect towards fellow players or moderators will not be tolerated. Anyone posting advertisements will receive a forum ban without prior warning. If breaking of rules continues to take place in this topic I will delete it.

Thank you

If anyone has personal issues with another player, or needs something back from another player(items/passes), other than covers/fills-please take it to private pms...anymore posting here will mean an instant forum ban without a warning.

A reminder that this is not the place for trading/buying/selling BMI, horses or advertising or asking for someone to train your horse.
If any of these things occur, you will be forum banned without prior warning.

I train my stamina breeds pretty much the same, but I do long slope rides until no gain+dressage/speed training, then I enter XC comps. I find the rides gives the extra skill in dressage and jump before comps. Both ways work though. And enter the lowest percent ones. I can usually get into .37%-.62% easily.
By Retired breeder, 27th November 2011 00:08:14
Personally I would so the short slope rides first, to keep stamina as low as possible, while maxing out dressage and jump, but either way should work, as long as you are entering the lowest skill levels comps you can find.
If anyone see's fifth could you mention that I have another divine to put in her center? I just got Jade out of the hops. Along with a nyx and a dog and some other good stuff default smiley :-))

Seriously considering selling my PB Fry for passes to use for another dressage cross. Her GP's outdated (still having trouble thinking that 70* is outdated, lol) and her dressage is way too low for my EC right now. It's just that....well, I like her name, >__>

Can't do much BLUPping or skilling this coming week anyway, what with painters coming to the house to start changing our wall colors and all.
oh good your on Fifth Hey I have another divine that needs boarding you want it?

Does anyone know how to tell how high a horse's skills could be while they're still a foal?

@Xello yeah I'd love another divine in my EC, default smiley :d Let me go set that up right now.

Sweet, got a Tears from an HOP and a wand from the lottery. Time to breed me some Fry/Lusi twins, 8)

Jingle Jangle

To get an idea of finished skills, add together any inborn skills in a given skill and the genetic potential for that skill. If you plan on using a skilly pet, add 10 to each skill, and if you plan on beaching a skill add 2.5% of the total GP (don't forget 1.2 from foal games).

And then look at the skill gain in top two skills for the EC the horse is in. Multiply that number by 138 without WoY, and by 274 if you have WoY on the horse.

To give an example, with numbers from a horse(an RDH cross) I just did this with, using dressage as the target skill:

total GP 979.60

GP in dressage 219.07
ibs in dressage 64.94
no skilly pet for this horse 0
beach for dressage (979.60x.025) 24.49
in 57 e EC (.246) no WoY (138) 33.948

Added these together to get a total projected dressage skill of 342.45 Dressage for this horse at 25, not high enough for what I want him for.

To figure the horse's total skills
take all ibs, add it to total GP with foal games gain, add 60 if using skilly pet, add for lessons for top two skills (138 times EC gain without WoY, 274 with WoY), and if you plan on clouding, multiply EC gain by 80 for top two skills (you add each set of lesson gain in twice, once for the top skill, and once for the second highest GP skill).

I'll sometimes crunch these numbers to figure if i want to cloud a horse, it's useful for making boards and for Grand Prix horses, but optional if you're not doing these.

Xello- Haha im used to it default smiley ;)

Foxia- Nice horse (:
Thank you so much Rorhi! This helped a lot. It tells me I need to change my goal, because the foal isn't what I wanted. If anyone want a foal with the potential to rank 2nd in Morgan stamina is welcome to buy him though. Here's his link

Did a cross between an Irish Hunter and Trakehner. I'm pretty happy with the results, the foal born was a filly, but the comps are taking forever to run.
