Finally a post just for us cross breeders. The purpose of this topic is for cross breeders to have a place to discuss their crossbreeding programs and to share crossbreeding secrets and advice with others who may be interested in giving crossbreeding a try. Feel free to talk about your crossbreeding programs and your achievements and failures in crossbreeding.
Please remember to follow the rules of the forum and be informative and helpful. default smiley :-))

Reminder to all.

Please do not advertise sales or items wanted in this topic. I can turn a blind eye to the covers being offered (as long as they are not blatant advertisements) because we are, after all, trying to help each other progress and there is no filter on public covers for searching for crosses, but items sales and items wanted do not belong in any of the public forums and we have a sales forum for horse sales so please, lets keep our topic clean of the ads.

Thanks everyone

There are reasons for rules and everyone is expected to follow them. There will be no posting of advertisements in this topic and everyone is expected to be respectful. Any disrespect towards fellow players or moderators will not be tolerated. Anyone posting advertisements will receive a forum ban without prior warning. If breaking of rules continues to take place in this topic I will delete it.

Thank you

If anyone has personal issues with another player, or needs something back from another player(items/passes), other than covers/fills-please take it to private pms...anymore posting here will mean an instant forum ban without a warning.

A reminder that this is not the place for trading/buying/selling BMI, horses or advertising or asking for someone to train your horse.
If any of these things occur, you will be forum banned without prior warning.

Does anyone have a 50/50 cross mare with no TB in it with a GP of at least 1450 that I could borrow? I don't need it right now but I thought it'd be easier to just borrow one than BLUP a whole new one.

I'm finding this whole rosettes thing frustrating. All my comp horses finish 4th at best in rosette comps. I noticed though, that no Fjord has won a rosette yet. My goal is now to breed the first Fjord to win a rosette. My next cross might be able to do that. I just need to BLUP a filly, bolt her, and breed her/him to a 50/50 mare of the right GP. That should make a 1340 GP Fjord.

I breed red stared Hackneys with red stared Standardbreds to make elite trotters default smiley :d

Just incase you wanted to know...
By Retired breeder, 17th February 2012 02:06:11
Actually, the gp of the mare has to be at least 1436 to create a 1330 GP Fjord. Still, I'm going to go for the highest GP possible.
By Retired breeder, 17th February 2012 02:07:30
Mess- Twi has a Fry/Vanner mare of mine with 1435 if that works.

Twi- That could work. Let me find it and I'll send you a picture too watch for.
shiannes; Okay. And find some "alternatives" in case that one doesn't get through.

shiannes- That might work. I want to try to not have any Fry in it though since my other two Fjord crosses also have Fry. If I can't find anything else though then I might use that one.

I wish Standardbreds had higher GP. I think it'd be interesting to breed a 50% PSH, 50% SB mare to a 50% TB 50% Fjord stally. The speed would be insane.
By Retired breeder, 17th February 2012 02:22:34
Hey, at least I dont change them every week/month. I've had the last one since I started crossing way back when lol. I wanted something new!
By Retired breeder, 17th February 2012 02:23:06
Whoa...actually, SB's have pretty decent GP. And Paints do too....and so do PSH's...gah, if only I had more aging points and equus! A Paint/PSH would also be amazing to breed to my TB/Fjord...

I guess before I do anymore I should probably ask, what would be good to breed to
this cross (she will be bolted to a stally) which would create a Fjord which is able to win a Rosette in a Western Comp?
By Retired breeder, 17th February 2012 02:25:24
Not bad Mess. If you breed that to my Fry/Vanner, you should get really good GP.
By Retired breeder, 17th February 2012 02:35:37
So I really think a PSH/Paint would make a great cross to breed my foal to. I changed my mind and I'm not aiming to make a 1340 GP Fjord. I'm going to focus on getting a Rosette with a Fjord so I guess I want something to make one of my Fjord's GP skills be over 300.

I know that if I breed my foal to a top GP PSH/Paint mare it would have around 313 Speed GP, 258 Dressage GP, 253 Gallop GP, and 218 Stamina GP. Trot and Jump would be too low to count towards the Rosette. Would those GP's, with the foal bred with tears and all skilled up, be enough to win a Rosette? If so, in what competition?
