The NIB FAQ:

What is a NIB horse?
A NIB horse is a horse that is not inbred; every horse in its pedigree appears only once (with the exception of Ouranos and Gaia). Horses with "Horse Disappeared" in their pedigree are generally not accepted by NIB breeders unless the horses in question were bought before the horses disappeared and have verifiable pedigrees.

Are there green star NIB horses?
These horses have lower GP than green stars and other top horses, as not inbreeding limits the breeding availability and is slower to progress than breeding brothers to sisters and so forth.
**Misabel edit: The first Green star NIB horse was created on February 21, 2011 - a 6th generation Connemara pony with a star in stamina. He was the end result of a lot of hard work and effort, but now that some dedicated breeders have shown it can be done, we all have something to shoot for!

Are NIB horses considered better than green stars or inbred horses?
Goodness, no! Nobody here is attempting to make that claim. Just like the Zero GP horses, these players choose to play the game in their own challenging way.

How can I get involved with NIB breeding?
It's simple! Start by purchasing a few foundation horses, or horses whose pedigrees can be tracked down and verified as non-inbred. Then carefully breed them to create foals with good GP's and skills that are not inbred!

I know this sounds super spontaneous ( default smiley :p) but I'm suddenly on a mad hunt for a foundation palomino Connemara foal. Either 8 months or under and games not started, or over 1yr 6 months with foal games done, and 351.2GP. I know, I sound really picky, but... default smiley :k I collect odds and ends.

Westwindangel, I breed NIb connemaras. Currently working quite a few and have quite a few in the private sales. Also,Kaliko99 breeds NIB cinnies. If you look at my friends list I have a number of NIB connie breeders listed. Sadly a few have decided to quit but I do know that myself and Kaliko99 as well as HYDEIST are fairly firm with our horses. We tend to rotate our foundations between each other should we hit a burnout that way the lines do not disappear.

Hmm...along with my new competition/training transformation, I think I'm going to reorder the way I do comps again too. Because I'm constantly low on equus I can't be always buying new tack, so I rotate English/Western tack around my horses...now I have a kid who just started comps stuck in English tack when she'd really be better off running barrel comps. I think I'll save the English competitions for after either the 20 wins or 3 best bolded.

Does anyone know how much the tack really affects comps? I've had a stallion with a Centaur pack still win at cross-country...
By Retired breeder, 10th February 2010 16:00:57
Does anyone have an NIB Hanoverian or Newfoundland Pony stallion that is a unicorn? I'd be really interested in breeding to it and trying to produce a unicorn foal.

Also, how were foundation unicorns introduced into the game? I know you can only breed a unicorn from another unicorn but how did the first ones get into the game?
By Retired breeder, 10th February 2010 16:08:05
Star Bar K Ranch, my suggestion ( and it will save you heaps of equus) is to find stables that have saddlers in them. Then you can use the SB equipment. I know in mine the bonuses given from my EC tack is not much lower than what you get on made to measure and better than some of the others. ( If you use The Atalantes/Centaur packs this will not help you any). However, if you prefer western comps you would still need to purchase a western saddle for those comps but you can always switch the items around before you enter them into a comp.
The only drawback on the EC tack is that it does vary from one stable to the next as to how much bonus you get from it.
By Retired breeder, 10th February 2010 16:18:54
Hmm good call...I'll have to definitely take a closer look at saddles as my program expands. Since I've been transitioning from one training regimen to another, I've been keeping all horses tacked since they're still entering comps here and there, but from now on I'm doing a lot more training before I enter so I shouldn't need quite as much tack in rotation.
Right now I board my horses at my own center, which is lacking in all sorts of things (like funding...haha) but it lets me manage everything at the same time, which is nice.
By Retired breeder, 10th February 2010 16:52:52
Well if you ever need a box let me know. I do the same thing to cut costs by boarding at my own stable. I have well over 100 different horses and to be honest I would be flat broke if I had to buy tack for all of them. At the moment what I have been doing is keeping 4 made to measures for those I am focused on wins with. Once they have their wins I remove the tack and slap the EC stuff on them. Then just work on aging them out. I have found people are more likely to buy the offspring if the parents are deceased. Hence most of my horses from my more recent breedings at most have 3 foals. It's been the best way to sell my foals for a reasonable price to both me and the buyer while insuring them at the same time the lines will still be viewable regardless of what I do. I figure it is best that way.
By Retired breeder, 10th February 2010 16:54:03
( hopefully with any luck by the next spring game cycle I will be able to get several 5th generation horses bred)
By Retired breeder, 10th February 2010 18:26:48
Since I'm new enough that I haven't yet aged a horse to the point of their passing--what actually happens when the horses "die"? I know that they're still visible in pedigrees, which is good for NIBers...My foundation mare that I started the game with is in her early 20s so I know it's going to be sooner rather than later. All of my other horses are her offspring.

One of my favorite NIB stallions to breed to has a number of horses "off the page" in terms of viewable pedigrees, but with a little research anyone can prove he is in fact NIB. I'm interested in hearing what other breeders think about this--I know there's a big push right now for only breeding 1st gens, but eventually we're going to have to breed into many many more generations.

I personally keep detailed pedigree records in an Excel spreadsheet on my own computer which I can show to potential breeders/buyers if they want to check lineage...

So I hope this is okay to put here. I find that I don't have time to devote to NIB shetlands. As much as I love this game I think I need to keep my playing smaller. The new baby, moving, real life horses, my husband, and my writing is far more important and I have been neglecting the writing part because of lack of time.

So, I want to "give" my NIB shetlands and Quarter Ponies to serious NIB breeders. I will sell anyone one of them (or all of them) for 500e each (as low as the game allows), regardless of BM items, training, blupping, ect. So if anyone is interested PM with which ones you want. I will check to make sure you are a serious NIB breeder.
I've PMed a few people and am currently staring at one of Riven's foundie connemaras... It's just what I need too...If only I could PM admins! default smiley xd

I am so excited! Two more wins and my Adrian will BLUP! I have been so carefully placing him and finally...I'm almost done with competitions!

I now have my nib uni pair, I'm putting Eachan on hold until Sorcha hits th same age. I wonder if anyone does NIB shetlands? I managed to snag a foundation stallion pretty cheap.
By Retired breeder, 11th February 2010 14:07:18
Yippeee! SoulReaper -- well done.....two more to go!! Look up a few posts, recklessdreamer is selling off some NIB shetlands....

Caoimhe is three away from her 20...thank goodness...boy, but it's been excruciating!!

Just plugging away does the trick, I guess.....

By Retired breeder, 11th February 2010 14:09:21
saying as every foundation horse's parents are ouranous and gaia, I dont really get NIBdefault smiley :-))
By Retired breeder, 11th February 2010 14:30:07
...But that's like saying all the breeds must be the same - Ouranos and Gaia are parents of horses, ponies, Divines and donkeys...which are obviously not the same breed. It's clear that they are creators rather than blood relations.
By Retired breeder, 11th February 2010 17:47:45
I have a foundie Paint, but I don't know what price I should sell it for! What would you NIB breeders pay for it? Thanks default smiley :)
It depends on age, BM items, BLUP etc. default smiley :d

To really go in depth about (my view) the creators: Ouranous/Gaia

To those that believe in science I would explain it as though the two founding parents (Father sky/mother earth) are the original horses that "crawled out of the ooze", they are the first that give the genetics needed to state their breed/species/etc. They themselves are not actual horses, but the species before them. Think about the geographical places they were in when they "foaled" each species rather than them themselves. They do not count.

To those that believe in religion, no matter the religion. The founding parents are like adam and eve or like the Gods of older religions. When first starting out there is no way around "incest" when thinking of the creation of horse/mankind but it is ignored because it was necessary, it wasn't counted. Thus Ouranous and Gaia are not considered when looking at a horses pedigree.

Forest, that is exactly how I view it. I don't get why people try to confuse people by questioning it. It's like people with the SH, the slaughter house idea. But anyway, all seconds and fourths for Nutty.... Darn foundie...default smiley (li)
Any more NIB connie breeders out there? I've looked through everybody's farm...

I feel SO lucky! I snagged a Russian Don mare for 500e in the private sales last night. I didn't even realize she was a foundie until after I bought her. Then I also saw she was pregnant, expecting a foal from a foundie Russian Don stallion. default smiley :-))
