It's about time the NIB breeders had their own corner of the world default smiley ;)

Curious about NIB horses? Want to know what a NIB horse is? You've come to the right place!

What is this topic for? NIB enthusiasts to find each other and help one another progress in their respective games.
Otherwise, you may use this topic to help others learn about NIBs, share your experience, and find friends that breed NIBs default smiley :)

The NIB FAQ:

What is a NIB horse?
A NIB horse is a horse that is not inbred; every horse in its pedigree appears only once (with the exception of Ouranos and Gaia). Horses with "Horse Disappeared" in their pedigree are generally not accepted by NIB breeders unless the horses in question were bought before the horses disappeared and have verifiable pedigrees.

Are there green star NIB horses?
These horses have lower GP than green stars and other top horses, as not inbreeding limits the breeding availability and is slower to progress than breeding brothers to sisters and so forth.
**Misabel edit: The first Green star NIB horse was created on February 21, 2011 - a 6th generation Connemara pony with a star in stamina. He was the end result of a lot of hard work and effort, but now that some dedicated breeders have shown it can be done, we all have something to shoot for!

Are NIB horses considered better than green stars or inbred horses?
Goodness, no! Nobody here is attempting to make that claim. Just like the Zero GP horses, these players choose to play the game in their own challenging way.

How can I get involved with NIB breeding?
It's simple! Start by purchasing a few foundation horses, or horses whose pedigrees can be tracked down and verified as non-inbred. Then carefully breed them to create foals with good GP's and skills that are not inbred!

Wow that's really exciting to hear. I will definitely check it out--don't have any stallions of my own to add but it would be an excellent way to find some to breed to!

I think the best way for the NIB project to spread is "grassroots" projects like this--private players creating their own studbooks.

@MissManson--if the QH one really takes off I might do a Hano one default smiley :p I don't breed Hanos myself; I'm doing the QH one out of personal interest, but if there is a significant request for a Hano book I might open one of those too.
Impatiently entering shows and waiting for my best Newfie stallion to get all his wins to be 100 BLUP. default smiley (lol) After being more or less completely off Howrse for the past two weeks due to a broken computer.

@ Star Bar - awesome, consider this the first request lol. I've debated starting one but the truth is that many people are wary of outside studs right now due to line deletion. I know I just bought an old geezer for an outrageous price because I owned his daughter and the original stud owner sold him >.<

Does anyone have any tips on getting wins before I jump headfirst into competitions?default smiley xd

I had a bit of a system worked out for higher GP horses, but I'd like to hear any tips you can give me, as I know that my playing field is much different default smiley xd

I breed Paints, just in case anyone was wondering.

By Retired breeder, 15th February 2010 02:58:13
The NIB QH Studbook is now open and accepting entries! Please see my EC forum for details.

If the QH gets rolling, MissManson, I may move on to other breeds...default smiley ;)
By Retired breeder, 15th February 2010 03:22:00
Hey, Star Bar I sent you a PM. I have a foundation QH up for breeding if anyone is interested. He only has 350.23GP but 100BLUP and all bolded. I don't think anyone from the NIB list has bred to him. Most of his offspring are unused or dead.

I used to breed NIB hanos but took a long break and stopped. I might try to get into another breed but not sure which one yet default smiley *-)

Also about unicowrns...Wouldn't NIB Unicworns run out of foundation Unicworns to breed to?
LoloJean - Train in Speed & Dressage, then do your comps. I do rides just to get the minimum skills needed for each event. ex: jumping needs min of 10.00 skills to enter any races, so I'll do long sloped rides until I get 10 skills. I do this while doing speed & dressage training. It will also add some stamina & additional dressage skills. I also will do Trot rides until I get 1.00 skills in trot (that is the min.) Then I start entering races. I usually start with cross country comps because I mainly breed arabs, but it also works pretty well with my QHs & Mustangs (but they take longer to BLUP because speed is usually the last thing I bold).

livelyblueyes my EC will probably have few boxes free after 18th when 3 of my greenstars move out... exept if I decide to powerbreed few mares ofc default smiley (lol)

It's foal center with no employees but clean meadows with rabbits.

I have been wondering how many acres you need for 6 horses. Is 6 enough or do you need to put 12 acres to pasture?
By Retired breeder, 15th February 2010 14:55:41
Woohoo! One of my mares just gave birth to an NIB Quarter colt with a birth GP of 357.99. Definitely my best so far!!

Also getting submissions for the studbook---thanks to everyone who's sent me information so far! I will be updating everything soon.
By Retired breeder, 15th February 2010 18:42:10
Yay! My computer is back up and running. I guess it didn't matter too much since the week it was down was Valentine's, anyway, but I still missed it. (I'm a florist so... it's been a CRAZY week for me)

I managed to get 20 wins on the foundation I took care of during that time. Just logged in and took care of one to keep my seniority... Today is going to be a horse-care bonanza! default smiley (lol)

Good to hear others have been having some luck and the studbook *is* a nice idea, Star Bar K Ranch (do you have a nickname preference? lol).

This weekend will be a long weekend and hopefully I'll have a chance to actually make some progress towards the next generation!
By Retired breeder, 15th February 2010 19:04:50
Haha yeah I didn't realize how un-forum-friendly my long username was...Feel free to shorten it to something easier. Star Bar? SBK? SBKR?

The studbook currently has 3 farm entries. If you're breeding Quarters, go check it out!

Hi there,

I'm new into the NIB thing and was wondering, what is a good price to sell an NIB foal? Thanks in advance!

I usually sell my 355-360 GP Quarters for 650e-750e, so that gives you a good ideadefault smiley ;)

Just looked at the Stud Bookdefault smiley ;) It looks great!
By Retired breeder, 15th February 2010 20:58:36
Once all of my school work is due this week default smiley :p I'm going to hopefully jazz it up a bit with graphics and then make a button link that all of the entries can post in their own presentations to spread the word.

Hoping to beat your GP record with my newest son of SomethinGottaGive...default smiley (7)
By Retired breeder, 15th February 2010 21:05:02
I'm proud of myself. default smiley ^) I just picked up four foundie Paso fillies under 6 months for 5,000e each! default smiley ;)Amazing luck I have. I NIB PSHs, but I think I might take on Pasos as a second breed, due to the fact they are the breed with the least amount of horses. Now, who does 351.2 GP foal games? I really need them at 351.2 GP. default smiley :(Maybe I'll immortalize them..... Anyway. No more wins on Nutty, default smiley :-x but 5 left on my ib mare.default smiley :d (gotta make a livin somehowdefault smiley (lol)) Pretty boring weekend. Just logged in to rotate pastures, take care of a horse for my salary, and the like. Off to stock the sales....default smiley xd
By Retired breeder, 16th February 2010 00:05:13
Pintar5 I have the games in my EC forum...they are really easy step by step to get the 351.20 it even gives you the should be GP at the end of every month..
By Retired breeder, 16th February 2010 00:10:08
Thanks so much Starting Right. I'm going to go check it out.default smiley ;)

Hi. I'm new. How can I start non inbreeding? How do I get a "foundie" or foundaton horse. I looked through some of the pages, so "foundie" and "foundaton" showed up alot.
By Retired breeder, 16th February 2010 02:04:29
Decided to do a search of the private sales for howrses with GP lower than 381 and with a single star. Found a couple, so it is definitely possible.

The one I find the most interesting has a Total GP of 370.54. Highest individual GP is 101.88 in Speed, so (of course) a green-starred howrse. 87.5% mustang, 6.2% hanoverian, 6.2% appaloosa. He's definite proof that overall GP is much less important.

The lowest GP purebred it came up with is 379.83. 100.07 in speed, a Chinco pony.

Both of them have long, convoluted family histories so it's not possible to get a count of how many generations we're talking still... but it at least gives a GP to aim for.

I think I'm out to look through the new breeds to see if I can find a through-and-through family tree to count generations to greenstar on. I still remember a 7 or 8 generation Marwari, but there was some back-tracking on that tree (father to daughter and/or mother to son is what I mean by back-tracking). Then again, might not be possible to find one. Won't know until I look. default smiley :)
