It's about time the NIB breeders had their own corner of the world default smiley ;)

The NIB FAQ:

What is a NIB horse?
A NIB horse is a horse that is not inbred; every horse in its pedigree appears only once (with the exception of Ouranos and Gaia). Horses with "Horse Disappeared" in their pedigree are generally not accepted by NIB breeders unless the horses in question were bought before the horses disappeared and have verifiable pedigrees.

Are there green star NIB horses?
These horses have lower GP than green stars and other top horses, as not inbreeding limits the breeding availability and is slower to progress than breeding brothers to sisters and so forth.
**Misabel edit: The first Green star NIB horse was created on February 21, 2011 - a 6th generation Connemara pony with a star in stamina. He was the end result of a lot of hard work and effort, but now that some dedicated breeders have shown it can be done, we all have something to shoot for!

Are NIB horses considered better than green stars or inbred horses?
Goodness, no! Nobody here is attempting to make that claim. Just like the Zero GP horses, these players choose to play the game in their own challenging way.

How can I get involved with NIB breeding?
It's simple! Start by purchasing a few foundation horses, or horses whose pedigrees can be tracked down and verified as non-inbred. Then carefully breed them to create foals with good GP's and skills that are not inbred!

ARP Stud, I have 2 Shetlands but did not start breeding them yet, the stallion just started training and the mare is beginning to compete. If I keep up with this pace, maybe they'll get to 100 BLUP in a few months.default smiley (lol)

Sunny83 - default smiley (lol)! - I made a rather pricey bid on a *reserved* one too! Still, the mischief factor is a big pay-off....I figure it's kinder than reporting the wayward soul....default smiley ;) So far, I've still got the winning bid....

*hums and whistles* In a bit of a holding pattern until payday, um, I mean pass-day...default smiley :-))

I understand the pain of having to find an EC......especially for the low-skilled beginners -- not a whole lot to choose from and I find myself having become rather particular..so when I find one I like I tend to stay awhile...default smiley :p
I've been having absolutely no luck in the competition wins department for the past week. Very frustrating. default smiley (n) Nice to see others are having better luck though, at least there's still hope. default smiley ;)

Rymskynx -- I have a horrendous case of *seconditis* myself....disheartening enough to keep me in the barn for a few days now.....default smiley :( Time to re-plot my strategy....

*groan* do i really want to unload a ton of bm items on my beasties.....? Seems to be the only way to be competitive....

anyone? thoughts?
By Retired breeder, 21st January 2010 20:32:09
I have a foundie mare whit 35 2nd and 29 3rds in cross country :bangsheadinthewall. And she's got BMIs.. Won a few times since she's got the items, so I'm happy with them. Actually, I rarely use BMIs on my greenstars, usually save them for the NIBs. From my experience, they need them, especially with all the 20* horses around..
I def, have 2nd itis with several of my foundations. Just every now and then I get very lucky *shrugs*. Randomly tossed Torka into the barrel races in one that only need one other horse to enter and he got first! default smiley :-)). One more to go and 5 or 6 races to run *does a dance*. He is loaded though so I don't count him default smiley :p. He is funny, he has no first, 2nds or thirds in gallops but has wins and placings in all other comps default smiley (lol). Then again I haven't entered him in a single gallop race.

Woohoo! I have finally reached my goal of 1,000,000e default smiley :-)). I have had half that before but never this much *does another dance*

Congrats on the million Forest Queen! All my foundie wins seem like luck to me, but I don't guess I really understand how the winner is decided anyway. I think I get it figured out, then I lose or win I race I didn't think I should. Ah well.

Ya, I just toss them into races (usually) with no other horses in them and then cross my fingers from there.

Finally got Torka's last win default smiley :-)). He is now 100 BLUP, just have to finish him to 25 years old for full skill gain from my friend's nice EC (.099% lesson gains). He won't be clouded like Tikki nor does he have WOY so his skills should max around 410-420ish%. Still not bad though default smiley ^)

Just a note for you guys looking for a decent place for your horses starting off. I usually keep at least 10 of my stalls reserved for myself .. rabbit pets and so forth. So if you need an EC please feel free to pop me a pmm if I have an available slot i will reserve one for you. Currently working up an Irish Monster to help with lesson gain and such. At any rate the lessons are not the best but also not the worst at 20e.( poting in regards to folks tryin to find a decent spot for their starters normally would not post this).
Anywho though. Finally got Spooky BLUPPed ..foaled 3 times and aged out again. Now if I can just sell my horse Jacked Up I will have the last few passes I need for my irish monster default smiley :) Hehe Hopefully next spring I will have enough passes to work up all the horses I want to work up. ( MA because I hate waiting for aging points) Doing my lil Irish guy to hopefully increase my reserve eventually. 2 more weeks to a massive passday for me woot.

Forest Queen- Congrats on Torka's wins!

livelyblueyes- Thank's for the offer, that's really nice. default smiley :) I'll keep that in mind. default smiley :)
By Retired breeder, 21st January 2010 21:25:35
Thanks livelyblueyes -- very much appreciate the offer...will keep you in mind. I found one that I like -- has all the things I like, rabbits, big stalls, clean, fertile meadows but the lessons aren't great - 18e. *shrug* it's a trade-off for an otherwise nice place to put them. So 20e would be like winning the lottery.

I've got a couple of irish monsters in-BLUP myself, for just the same reason!! default smiley (lol) I'm working on my level 8 achievements right now though so I'm slowly moving my lowly NIB-ers out for a short time to try and boost the prestige..blah, blah, blah. What a pain in the butt....but I'm one of those annoying goal-driven people...default smiley ;)

I keep putting my *old* foundie mare in barrel races and she usually hits the board, wins a fair few actually...and they're pretty high-skill ventures so...who knows?

I'm really on the fence as to the bm items....and I think I"m giving up trying to

Forest - -I like your 'toss 'em in and hope for the best' style....I'm probably over-thinking...default smiley (o) Heartiest congrats on Torka....default smiley (y) AND the big money!!
By Retired breeder, 21st January 2010 23:16:15
Wild North I managed to get that achievement by reserving all my stalls for myself and simply keepin one insanely skilled Irish Hunter in it while gaining equus and such. I tried doing it with like heaps of high skilled horses then gave up and tried it that way. Was the easiest way for me to do it. As for my EC I am always willing to help folks. I will warn ahead during the sprintime my lessons always drop to around 20e because of loading my foals in for games lol. Rest of the time they are usually at 21 e. As I said always willin to help .. it's a pain to get a good EC when the horses are young. Sooo I desined mine for just that purpose lmao.
Yahoo for Torka I am so excited to hear that he finally got his last wins.

I use your strategy too I throw mine in empty comps and cross my fingers and toes and sometimes I get lucky.

I definitely get more seconds, thirds, fourths and fifths than anything else so don't feel bad guys it's not just you it's everyone.

I have gotten only two wins tonight and none for my top horses. I think they have gone on strike. They really don't like training at night the best time for me is first thing in the morning.

How are things going for everyone else tonight?

I'm just waiting for a couple of trot races to fill....don't think they'll go before I shut down for the night...

livelyblueeyes -- thanks for that tip...I was hoping something like that would work. Up until now I've been very low-skill-friendly...foundies, NIBs, foals etc. because I know myself how hard it is to find a nice place to work them....and it'll be the philosophy I return to after the achievements are finished. But I've got a few long-timers whose board doesn't run out until the middle of February so it's a slow process....default smiley ;)

Somehow knowing that the seconditis is contagious makes me feel a bit better.....

Mulling over how far I'd like to take my *reserved* bid for the foundie in auction....started off just being cheeky but someone else has bid.....default smiley (6)
By Retired breeder, 22nd January 2010 00:54:12
I usually only put Hep shoes on my foundations... and I admit I often immortalize them, too. But other than that and the occasional Timer when I have them around most of my BM items go to my Skillers. If they've got items, I've usually bought them with the items on them.

Mind you, that's with Paint foundations... others I haven't had as much luck.

Painted Flight (in my NIMBY Paints farm) is a current example of how well that works out for them. She's got the Medusa's Blood I bought her with on, the whip and cloth she's found, and the EC bonuses... started comping her 3 days ago and she's got 6 firsts already.

My Marwaris show how well that -doesn't- work for them. Only one has managed to get any amount of wins without BM items... I think I just have to figure out what type of competitions work best for them, but what worked for her didn't work for anyone else... so I'm still lost. =p
(And therefore, they're on hold while I play with my Paints)

And I have to agree with Rowen-- time of day seems to affect winning/not winning. Afternoon works best for me, followed by morning, and I don't seem to get as many wins at night... I'm guessing it's different age demographics depending upon time of day.
By Retired breeder, 22nd January 2010 01:51:14
My PSH foundie stud Nutty (F) under (M) Sinserray Non-Inbred PSH has gotten 4 wins under my supervision. They are mostly XC, and he can get into 4-8% comps! Everything else is a bit higher, so it seems that schedule is working for him. I judt don't want to train or anything and mess it up. Well, I'm off to go "toss him in some comps" and hope he wins. default smiley ;)
*Crosses fingers and toes*
By Retired breeder, 22nd January 2010 02:11:59
Okay, I just got him in so many comps, he can't get in anymore without aging him and he has 31 energy! What's the secret? 10% XC comps! They only take around 4-6 energy.
By Retired breeder, 22nd January 2010 02:17:04
I'm a huge fan of low-level showjumping competitions for that reason, some only take 2% energy-- and they take less of your "day" than XC do. 1.5 hours for a Jumping comp, 2 hours for a XC.

And energy doesn't matter much... stroking at the end of the day with 0 energy gives 12% back-- give a turnip and there you go, over the 20% you should end your day with. default smiley :)
By Retired breeder, 22nd January 2010 02:40:11
Jeteska, I literally couldn't do any more comps because it was almost midnight. He had 31 energy! haha you just can't beat that.
I must be picking the wrong competitions because I entered mine around 5:00 and I still have over 40 left to run. Don't think it's going to happen before update. Guess I will have to wait until morning to see if I get any wins.

@Pintar5: Ah! Well, that happens sometimes. XD

Sometimes competitions can take several days to run for breed-specific comps of unpopular breeds (Hackneys I always have that issue and sometimes Marwaris).

It can drive me crazy... although sometimes I forget I've entered then and it's a nice surprise if it ends up being a win! Actually had one foundation do that for her last win. I'd given up on her and let her fall out of board for awhile so I didn't get too frustrated... come back to her and... she's got her wins! If only we were always that lucky. default smiley :p
Inner Chorus, an answer for you if you don't have one already (better late than never!) :

Two of the original six foundation Arabians are gone from the game. I own three of the four remaining and know the whereabouts of the last.

I also own two of the foundation Purebred Spanish Horses and could point you in the direction of the owners of the fifth and sixth if you are curious (would rather not post their usernames to the public in case they would object). Hope that will help your thirst for knowledge!

Does anyone have a GIMP tutorial in their EC or something? I know that giz has one for mane/tails that I will play with on my horse drawings but I don't know anything about anything on there so I was hoping someone had decent explanations possibly on here
