It's about time the NIB breeders had their own corner of the world default smiley ;)

The NIB FAQ:

What is a NIB horse?
A NIB horse is a horse that is not inbred; every horse in its pedigree appears only once (with the exception of Ouranos and Gaia). Horses with "Horse Disappeared" in their pedigree are generally not accepted by NIB breeders unless the horses in question were bought before the horses disappeared and have verifiable pedigrees.

Are there green star NIB horses?
These horses have lower GP than green stars and other top horses, as not inbreeding limits the breeding availability and is slower to progress than breeding brothers to sisters and so forth.
**Misabel edit: The first Green star NIB horse was created on February 21, 2011 - a 6th generation Connemara pony with a star in stamina. He was the end result of a lot of hard work and effort, but now that some dedicated breeders have shown it can be done, we all have something to shoot for!

Are NIB horses considered better than green stars or inbred horses?
Goodness, no! Nobody here is attempting to make that claim. Just like the Zero GP horses, these players choose to play the game in their own challenging way.

How can I get involved with NIB breeding?
It's simple! Start by purchasing a few foundation horses, or horses whose pedigrees can be tracked down and verified as non-inbred. Then carefully breed them to create foals with good GP's and skills that are not inbred!

Wild I believe I posted the answer up above default smiley ;). Skills have nothing to do with GP, only BLUP and GP of parents. Skills and tears are all just a bonus for the future foal default smiley :)

FQ - thanks but.....I know that part -- what I was wondering is what influence, if any, skills have on stars --- or is it ONLY GP that influences stars.....'scuse if I'm being obtuse but it's been a rather looooong day....default smiley xd

..perhaps i dozed off during that portion of the GP-Star-Skill class....default smiley :(
Skills still have nothing to do with stars as stars are determined by GP and skills have nothing to do with GP default smiley (y)

Thanks for clearing that up.......default smiley :) It was just that skill-star connection, or lack thereof as the case may be...that had me a bit befuddled.......

default smiley (k)

Going out on a limb here....but I suppose foundation unis are as rare as hen's teeth? Saw one today in another horse's pedigree and had myself a bit of a drool.....default smiley ;)
Yes foundation unis are rare. There were only 5 or 6 foundation arabians, 1 or 2 have been haven'd or passed.....*sigh* Mine is safe with Sionnach default smiley ^)

*gasp* WHO would allow such a thing?!

I'm off to wander around the auction....I'm selling the unfortunate product of a newbie breeding experiment (newf x connie)...so feel justified in buying something else....(purposely ignoring the unicorn purchases of the last few days) default smiley ;)
I believe I got my other shutterfly mare for 20ishk also so I haven't done to bad. I am winning a whole bunch of auctions that I forgot about default smiley xd and now don't really need if I only need 32-64 pairs of foundations to have enough for greenstardom. I have nearly 80 sets default smiley xd lol

Nice purchase, FQ....um...what's 8hh?

Some delights in the auction for foundation newfs...including a *reserved* sale which, of course, I had to bid on....default smiley (6) Unfortunately I'll be at work tomorrow when one of them closes....fingers-crossed, I guess.
Wild if you send me the link I can watch it. I have tomorrow off.

8hh= 8 hands high. Sorry I own real horses so know the terms default smiley :$

I thought so.....(the hh)......just didn't know that size mattered...default smiley (lol)

Thanks heaps for the offer to watch....I'll toddle off and get the link....

Some very delusional peeps selling in the PS....default smiley :o

Does anyone know, is it terribly dire for a horse to be trained too far along in jumping but okay elsewhere? There's one in the PS almost worth the risk.....default smiley (o)
Send a link to that one too Wild and I will let you know. You breed ponies, much different than horses not to mention Newfies have hano like skills. Nothing like arabians default smiley xd.

The original shutterflies, the ones from the advent calender, came in the form of mini arabians of both genders. So far I own two mares, 8hh and 8.3hh. Arabians generally stand 14-16hh. One of my Shutterflies are called Crazy Midget for this reason default smiley :p

You have no idea how funny that is about the shutterfly arabs...I had one...but didn't even notice her size....default smiley (lol) Sunny83 has her now....default smiley ;)

I pm'd you re: the newfs....default smiley :-)) I think the problem is that the little blurb always tells you to 'concentrate on the such-and-such' skills which is sometimes counter-productive to getting wins....

Off to walk the hounds....will check back in a while....
By Retired breeder, 19th January 2010 23:45:45
Do shutterflies produce normal height arabs?
Jumps up and down* I have got 3 wins so far today. Pretty Birdie got her first 1st place, Heartache (351.12 GP stud) got his 6th or 7th and Eternal got his 14th default smiley :-)) *crosses fingers* Hoping the rest of my comps go similarly lol

just had a bit of a look, there is a 6month old shutterfly foal, both shutterfly parents although neither are 100blup, it is 11.1hh at 6months so im guessing they produce your standard arab foal. default smiley :(
By Retired breeder, 20th January 2010 00:12:33
its in auctions, dont know how to link it but you can search for arab horses 100% pure with less than 350gp. named shutterfly foal
By Retired breeder, 20th January 2010 00:23:53
Congrats on your flurry of winnage, FQ......here's hoping for more of the same...default smiley :-)) default smiley (y)

Congrats on yesterdays comps!

Got my babies in and heading off to bed.

Good luck everyone!
By Retired breeder, 20th January 2010 08:57:49
Forest, not sure how to explain - I meant 'control' in the context of an experiment; All her previous foals are from before GP's went up, so I won't have a good comparison. (she's a foundie)
From comments here, My experiment should be succesful... *insert evil laugh here*
default smiley (lol)
