It's about time the NIB breeders had their own corner of the world default smiley ;)

The NIB FAQ:

What is a NIB horse?
A NIB horse is a horse that is not inbred; every horse in its pedigree appears only once (with the exception of Ouranos and Gaia). Horses with "Horse Disappeared" in their pedigree are generally not accepted by NIB breeders unless the horses in question were bought before the horses disappeared and have verifiable pedigrees.

Are there green star NIB horses?
These horses have lower GP than green stars and other top horses, as not inbreeding limits the breeding availability and is slower to progress than breeding brothers to sisters and so forth.
**Misabel edit: The first Green star NIB horse was created on February 21, 2011 - a 6th generation Connemara pony with a star in stamina. He was the end result of a lot of hard work and effort, but now that some dedicated breeders have shown it can be done, we all have something to shoot for!

Are NIB horses considered better than green stars or inbred horses?
Goodness, no! Nobody here is attempting to make that claim. Just like the Zero GP horses, these players choose to play the game in their own challenging way.

How can I get involved with NIB breeding?
It's simple! Start by purchasing a few foundation horses, or horses whose pedigrees can be tracked down and verified as non-inbred. Then carefully breed them to create foals with good GP's and skills that are not inbred!

I bought specific horses as fillers - mostly untrained/low training ones with a GP similar to foundation-level (so they don't gain too much skill through comp entry). I know some players use other NIBs though, just need to make sure they will not accidentally beat the horse you're BLUPing. I have toyed with using some of the NIB foals I have culled from my breeding project as future fillers.

Ugh I was going to bid on a white Morgan filly foundie, waited till 20 seconds for refreshing the page and of course my internet stopped so I lost her default smiley xd
Well, I've gotten three foundies cheap in the private sales and a black 2y2m male in the auction for 2000e so I guess it has been a good day default smiley (lol)
By Retired breeder, 18th January 2010 18:22:24
Skriblerier - default smiley :( sorry to hear that....I've lost one or two that way...the mad scramble and then pfffft...curse of ye olde spinning hourglass...

Inner Chorus....hmmmm...okay, thanks for that. I was going to shelve a 1G but perhaps I'll keep him around for filler....poor wee thing...default smiley ;) Then again, I could go and rummage around the auctions...

*whistles innocently*....but it's for a good cause!! default smiley :o

Hehe my 10yr old daughter plays as well. MM occasionally anyways. Usually boils down to me going "Holley how about you do mommy a favor and enter those horses I sold you into some comps with Mommies horses?" Other than that she rarely plays anymore. Hubby has been about the same. So essentially I beg them to fill for me on occasion. I tend to use my NIB horses I choose not to breed for that. I just avoid dressage training.
Generally speaking most of my filler family horses are NIBS I just choose not to breed as I like a sibling of theirs better lol.
" ( If anyone is every interested in those horses as a purchase just let me know I do not usually toss them in the sales)
By Retired breeder, 18th January 2010 18:43:36
I have used my foundies as fillers when I got desperate to wait Don comps to run and didnt have money to actually go and buy some fillers (and now when I tried... ofc someone outbid medefault smiley (lol) )

If someone got nice don fillers for 20% cross-country... poor Checkoff has again been alone waiting my EC comp finally start... its been soooo many days again default smiley :@
Well I'm not necessarily...eh..."dedicated" to the auction process. I have the reserve to bully on the horses I want sooooo....I tend to default smiley xd. lol I do try to back down if I noticed someone of the NIB community is really on my tail bidding on a horse buuuut...doesn't always happen. You can almost guarantee that I will not back down any anything immortal, anything with MA, anything with GA (well maybe..if I have the coat already you might get lucky), or anything with a GP of 351 or higher.

Personally I would be more inclined to be a tad more competitive with a player if I knew they were on the top of the list and were bidding on horses that I am bidding on but that could just be my natural competitive behavior default smiley xd

IC good job on getting your horsie to 100 BLUP at under 11 years old. Because I tend to fully bold when I have a horse with MA I somehow don't finish up until after 11 years....hmph lol though I think some of the ones I speed train could probably finish before 11 if I would just wait on the whole bolding business.

I read someone really only pays attention to skill gain *looks around* can't for the life of me remember whom. I really do try to tear every mare I breed on foals I plan on keeping for maximum skill gain.

Hooray, I have finally convinced myself to start comping some of my horses that are just 1-4 wins shy of being done default smiley :k Maybe now I will get somewhere.

Riven how many pairs did you say would most likely be needed to reach green starrdom?

Shadowbird I will take a look at my random dons I have floating about but I think they are foals.....Mostly I have adult Marwari's that I might be able to fill in comps for someone but not entirely sure what their training and skills are for either default smiley :$

I don't use either breed...don't know why I have them default smiley xd

FQ I only got him done and bolded by that age because of the Nyx Pack. The extra time plus 2 x strokes make the difference, not that it matters hugely whether you get them BLUPed earlier or later as long as there's time to breed - matters more for mares I guess as I like to try to get several foals from one pairing and an old mare has less breedings unless immortal.

I once worked out what generation we could reasonably expect starred NIBs, but I can't remember it and have a feeling it has changed since. It could be worked out by calculating an average GP jump per generation and how many gens it would take to get to green star level, then figuring out how many horses that is. The short answer? A LOT.
By Retired breeder, 18th January 2010 19:08:20
grr I lost the next one too, I thought i had her. I stink at auctions, I really do default smiley xd
By Retired breeder, 18th January 2010 19:11:53
I'm a slow blupper...they're usually around 11 1/2 years old or something....but that's because I'm cheap and nostalgic and I like them to be turned out in the meadow every day default smiley (lol).....

....now that the price of turnips is coming down I may be inclined to crack the whip a bit...default smiley ;)

For.The.Record.....I have walked blithely by TWO foundie newfs in the auction....TWO!!! In favour of some sad, forgotten thing to use as a filler....

I think I should get a prize....

Anyone got chocolate?
default smiley :-))
I do! ....but I ate it default smiley :$

If any of you notice:
Pintaloosa
Eternal
Soaring Skies
Golden
fire
Mac
Dark Purple
Pretty Birdie

These are the horses that I currently am working, though I have today off so I might add more to the list.

You may add fillers or place your own horses against them in comps to try for wins. I will feel better if another NIBer.

Golden only has one more win to go *claps hands and jumps up and down*

I must learn to finish my sentences default smiley xd

"If any of you notice these horses 'in comps'"

"I will feel better if another NIBer 'wins against them in competition than if a monster does' "

>.<

IC I was curious about how many pairings would be needed so that I could buy enough foundations for that and leave the rest for other NIBers. That way I can focus on just training and I can feel as though I might be getting somewhere. I'm currently at about 90 mares and 6-70 stallions, so at most 70 pairs at the moment. And then I can worry about placing tears on some mares and bolted other mares to get more stallions default smiley *-)

Woohoo, found a 21 year old non immortal mare that had 100 BLUP for 23k in the PS, bolted her to add another stallion to my herd. He is only bolded in his top 3 skills but still has 360% skills. I am half tempted to immortalize...if he wasn't only 350.23 GP I might lol

Lucky FQ! I myself just found a 100 BLUPed, 18y mare loaded with BM items for 500e and 2passes, had no qualms about buying her default smiley xd
Gosh prices for morgans sure has skyrocketed.
By Retired breeder, 18th January 2010 20:32:05
Yay! Finally some more NIB breeders. I know it's not Sunday, but I have an Irish hunter baby at 355.53 before games. The interesting thing is that she is 2nd gen...I remember when I used to breed nib aussie ponies and a gp gain like that took 6-7 generations...

But good news, another 100 BLUP Irish hunter stallion will be offering coverings, look for RunningShoes. Foundation, 350.9, and 5 bold skills (nearly 6)!default smiley (l)
I have spent more than a few passes on purchasing non 100 BLUP horses but try to only do so on horses I absolutely love....doesn't happen too often as I have a lot of competition when it comes to good arabians. default smiley (lol)

runningshoes it is a pity you can't access PS, I have a nice IH with 350.86 GP that I would send your way default smiley :(

2 days right, runningshoes? PS makes it so much easier default smiley ;)

You're good at finding the gems Forest Queen. Wish I had your eye for it default smiley xd

I haven't BLUPed in a few days, poor foundies just staying in the barn and waiting default smiley (lol) Concentrated a bit on my IB Hanos to earn money default smiley :k
That one I won in auctions, forgot it was ending and still got lucky. Another one just ended too, 351 mare that I bolted and placed a GA on for 10k. Mostly after studs as I have about 20 more mares than studs default smiley xd

Morgans right? How much do you tend to spend on them, you can PM me and I will take a look about to see what I can find default smiley :p

FQ -- YES, the monsters are at large today.....

Seriously -- you have a GIFT!! Such treasures at such bargains....

Question -- um, possibly an eejity one.....did unicorns come from foundation stock originally, or was there some form of transformative experience that one could purchase? default smiley (o)

Believe it or not I lost my filler that I was bidding on.....didn't think there'd be much competition out there but....I have to say I do prefer the convenience of the PS...could do without the pass-hemorrhage I'm experiencing from there at the mo though......default smiley :o

Maybe I should go back and look at those foundies after all.....
By Retired breeder, 18th January 2010 21:34:14
Sorry, busy strolling Auctions and seeing if I could free some of the fillies there default smiley ;)

Depends on the howrse of course, but 500 - 2000e is the most common prices right now (and then there's the passes *sigh*) Sometimes I'm lucky, like today, and get to grab the foundies before anyone else does it.

I was dumb earlier, 100 BLUP mare with BM items to 30k and I didn't buy. STUPID. When I got back to look after her she was gone. default smiley :-x

I've been debating buying that 5th element, but I will never be able to get the wins off him as his Stamina is trained default smiley (lol) Burned myself on that waaaay too many times now.
Really, morgan filly? Did you buy her? Any possibility I could buy her off you if you did? default smiley xd
