The NIB FAQ:

What is a NIB horse?
A NIB horse is a horse that is not inbred; every horse in its pedigree appears only once (with the exception of Ouranos and Gaia). Horses with "Horse Disappeared" in their pedigree are generally not accepted by NIB breeders unless the horses in question were bought before the horses disappeared and have verifiable pedigrees.

Are there green star NIB horses?
These horses have lower GP than green stars and other top horses, as not inbreeding limits the breeding availability and is slower to progress than breeding brothers to sisters and so forth.
**Misabel edit: The first Green star NIB horse was created on February 21, 2011 - a 6th generation Connemara pony with a star in stamina. He was the end result of a lot of hard work and effort, but now that some dedicated breeders have shown it can be done, we all have something to shoot for!

Are NIB horses considered better than green stars or inbred horses?
Goodness, no! Nobody here is attempting to make that claim. Just like the Zero GP horses, these players choose to play the game in their own challenging way.

How can I get involved with NIB breeding?
It's simple! Start by purchasing a few foundation horses, or horses whose pedigrees can be tracked down and verified as non-inbred. Then carefully breed them to create foals with good GP's and skills that are not inbred!

Hell0 default smiley :)

I am a NIB Standardbred breeder. As I have less than 20 days on Howrse I just bought 13 Gaïa Foals (and there is more to come !) to start my breeding farm and I need advice to plan the next generations for my horses.

Any help will be appreciated ^^
Sаtine
I've found barrels working well for a boost in wins for Blupping all sorts of horses. They certainly helped my one foundation Russian Don mare who has gotten all her wins. default smiley (y)

Satine, that's a very good start for your NIB breeding! Are you a completely new player to Horse or a restarter? Good luck with your Standy project. default smiley :)

I think I started avoiding barrels because when they were first around the wins didn't count towards 100 BLUP - I should maybe think about incorporating them again now.
Sаtine, I know little about Standardbreds, but I wish you luck!

Ok, I'll try that. Thanks livelyblueyes.default smiley :)

Natisah - I have some NIB mustang, all foundations for the most part. I believe horselover1981 may also have some. If you need coverings my lone blupped boy is available, and I have some unworked foundie foals I may be willing to part with default smiley :)

livelyblueeyes - you sniped some foundie Connies out of my hands at the auctions! Nice work default smiley ;)
By Retired breeder, 2nd December 2009 21:48:00
Thanks Rivenwood! I'm going to fully blup my mare first though default smiley :)
By Retired breeder, 2nd December 2009 22:01:26
Heh, yeah I can get brutal in the auctions default smiley :) but you know I am always willing to offer up covers once they are blupped. default smiley :)
The foundie foals I have .. will be waiting until spring for games. Especially since I have a heap of horses to get BLUPPed.
I have only managed to BLUp about 4 horses so far this week. It is going soo slow( then again I have been lazy and .. like today I have not even worked half of my horses lol).
Anytime you want a cover let me know default smiley :) Heh I would pop a pm over every now and then for a cover from ya but lol I can never seem to PM you lol.

*sigh* you know I have such a pet peeve. When I go to the private sales and a horse is listed BUT it is only listed as an advertisement for another horse the player is selling in the auctions. ,.. mm yah that drives me nuts. Especially when the horse they use to advertise is a pretty good foundy.. and they use it to advert a starred uni.
The evil side of me is like hrmm.. should I waste the 50,000e and grab that horse just to be spiteful? or should I be nice today.. the more the day goes on .. the more I lean toward spiteful default smiley :) What can I say I have an evil side.

livelyblueeyes - I am in the process of blupping a foundie connie myself. First time in a long time I've blupped a horse...I am generally too busy working to have much time to play!

And there's no hard feelings about the auctions. I fully expect to be outbid and find the competition a bit fun, really. And it's always nice to see foundies go to a NIBer! default smiley :)
By Retired breeder, 2nd December 2009 22:28:05
Livelyblueyes that's one of my pet peeves to! Its either the perfect horse for 200,000 equus or its just a advertisement in the way of real sales....drives me nuts default smiley :k
I can't believe we finally have a NIB Forum!!!! Yeah!!!!

I breed mostly NIB Arabs with some QH and Mustangs. I'm almost done with my arab foundation horses & will soon concentrate on my 2nd gens, although I have produced some 3rd gens. I do plan to try for a pure NIB greenstar, but it will take awhile.

My highest 2nd gen horse has a gp of 356.77. I have a foal that should reach 356.93 after games.

I can't find the code to create a link, so that will have to come later!

Hmm i have a question, is a foal from a foundie called a first generation or a second generation? I get those confused...
I totally give up on getting wins. I'm stuck at 15 and have been since before my last post. I guess I'll just go for bolding now. Sahara is almost 14 so I think I should just get his training done so I can get some breedings out of him. And then there is the issue of Shock Wave, Valhalla Rising, and Pacific Vortex. I haven't been working on them too much lately with my attempts to finish Sahara. I've got 12 wins in gallop, 3 wins in trot, and none in any others. However, I've got 19 second places and 23 thirds in gallop. Maybe Howrse could say that every 2nd place counts as half of a 1st place for foundations. It would really help.

► Inner Chorus: I have to admit that I have already played on the French version of Howrse. But it was a while ago, in the first months after the game has been created ^^

► Lady Leurona: Thank you ! I wish you the same ^^
By Retired breeder, 2nd December 2009 23:10:09
Vag111 sorry things arent going well....i would suggest going some more trot comps there probly the easiest because he has a low trot level.
I just got my 20 wins with my mare geargia! default smiley xd took me so long.....all i need to do now is bold all her skills...thank goodness ahe has arms default smiley (lol).

Im not an NIB breeder myself but i do have a foundie uni friesian that i have been thinking of putting up for sale if anyone is interested default smiley ;)

I thought i would pop a note here before i put him in sales at weekend. His name is Oliver Twist
By Retired breeder, 3rd December 2009 01:53:11
Hehe ..it's all good Riven default smiley :) Actually I believe it was you who taught me how to actually win an auction when I truly want it ages ago. I mean like wayyy back when Horwse had a chat room.
I actually miss the chat room days at times. I remember logging on here, taking care of my horses and hopping over to the chat room and chatting up a storm with folks like Nethien, Blackhawk Stud, Xabbu, You and quite a few others.. most of which seem to no longer play.
Man a 351 GP foundation was unheard of in those days. Us NIBer's were struggling to even get to 351. Man... a 351 horse back then was soo hard to freakin get.
I know when I came back to the game .. I tried soo hard to get my old Horsecreek Valley horses back lol. Then I turned around and sold them when I realized the whole gp thing had totally changed.
By Retired breeder, 3rd December 2009 02:01:16
Right now I'm trying to work on a NIB hackeny line. I have two 2nd gens, but I can't get any BM items because I can't buy passes, so things have been slow. Really slow. default smiley :-x
By Retired breeder, 3rd December 2009 02:17:43
I will not deny it is a bit harder without passes but it can totally be done.
I can totally empathize with all those trying to get 20 wins on already trained foundations. I think us NIBers could get awards for the most amount of 2nd places in competitions. I'm currently trying to get the last wins for a bunch of poorly trained foundations I have and I keep on getting pages and pages of 2nd places.

I soo know that feeling always. Sometimes I truly wish 2nd place counted towards BLUP. You know like you would need 40 of those whereas with first you would need just the 20.
HAHA if that was the case I swear I would have my foundies/NIB's blupped soo much faster.
However, th epartially trained Foundies is how i happened on the barrel race wins. *sigh* they would come soo much faster if more people entered the low end barrel races. That I must say is the one drawback on those races. The wait for them to complete. Would be nice if they went through either way after a certain time frame.
By Retired breeder, 3rd December 2009 08:52:16
Do any of you use fillers when going after comp wins? I'm tempted to start using them as the low-level newfie comps seem to be taking ages to run, which is frustrating as I'd like to see whether my horses have their wins before I continue training them.
By Retired breeder, 3rd December 2009 09:02:25
I don't believe in inbreeding
But I just found out
one of my horses have inbreed grandparent default smiley :o
