The NIB FAQ:

What is a NIB horse?
A NIB horse is a horse that is not inbred; every horse in its pedigree appears only once (with the exception of Ouranos and Gaia). Horses with "Horse Disappeared" in their pedigree are generally not accepted by NIB breeders unless the horses in question were bought before the horses disappeared and have verifiable pedigrees.

Are there green star NIB horses?
These horses have lower GP than green stars and other top horses, as not inbreeding limits the breeding availability and is slower to progress than breeding brothers to sisters and so forth.
**Misabel edit: The first Green star NIB horse was created on February 21, 2011 - a 6th generation Connemara pony with a star in stamina. He was the end result of a lot of hard work and effort, but now that some dedicated breeders have shown it can be done, we all have something to shoot for!

Are NIB horses considered better than green stars or inbred horses?
Goodness, no! Nobody here is attempting to make that claim. Just like the Zero GP horses, these players choose to play the game in their own challenging way.

How can I get involved with NIB breeding?
It's simple! Start by purchasing a few foundation horses, or horses whose pedigrees can be tracked down and verified as non-inbred. Then carefully breed them to create foals with good GP's and skills that are not inbred!

By Retired breeder, 2nd December 2009 07:31:00
and I am willing to help others out as well. It's 2 passes per use so just send me a PM of breed, gender (& color if you care about that).
I must charge at least 2 passes per foal.
By Retired breeder, 2nd December 2009 09:01:56
Yeah, I was surprised to see that had no upper limit on it, too - hopefully will give NIBing a bit of a boost.
By Retired breeder, 2nd December 2009 09:21:57
Hey guys, just posting to say I'm more than happy to supply you with affixless 'custom made' foundations if you need them...

They cost me 2 passes so as long as you'd pay something over that its cool.

Inner Chorus has bought a good 20 off me default smiley (lol)

Just drop me a PM if you're interested default smiley :)
By Retired breeder, 2nd December 2009 10:23:41
Wow, I can almost relate with the gelding thing!!

I discovered that I had been bidding on one, and my fingers were VERY crossed!! Someone did bid though, at the last second.
By Retired breeder, 2nd December 2009 11:06:35
i still dont get this NIB thing...default smiley :(
By Retired breeder, 2nd December 2009 11:08:46
bridget-xxx, be warned; creating multis, even to be helpful to make foundations to sell, is cheating and against the GUC. So please help yourself and don't make multis default smiley :)
By Retired breeder, 2nd December 2009 14:03:42
That's not a multi account, that's a restart, so nothing to worry about. default smiley :)
By Retired breeder, 2nd December 2009 14:31:52
.....................I haven't made a multi-account and I'm not sure quite where you got the idea that I have or would?

I'm talking about getting foundies via the new BM item....not via making multi-accounts
Personally I'm a little annoyed with the new BM item. I can't afford to spend passes on foundies all the time (at all really), and if that's the way it's going to go I may as well walk away from NIB breeding. Or accept the fact that I'll never be able to keep up, even with the GPs in NIBs. And I thought I was doing pretty well... very depressing.

I imagine it'll actually be pretty difficult to consistently find players under 20 days who buy passes to buy foundie foals from. I also think a lot will start coming through auctions soon...so keep an eye out!
Ah well, I'll never keep up with you anyway Inner Chorus, especillay now. So it really doesn't matter either way. default smiley ;)

Rymskynx - that's how the game is though.....many players cannot keep up with the 'top' players.....but for NIB you have a chance to start afresh....you can pick any breed.....perhaps pick one that no one has got far in yet?
I'm already an NIB breeder of Newfies bridget-xxx. So far my best GP is 362.2 and I've been working up to that since I started playing Howrse. Far too much work has been involved for me to want to start over. default smiley ;) I have no asperations to be "top player" even in the NIB world, but I was hopping to at least reach a greenstar in NIB Newfies before enough others did that it would feel a bit like an accomplishment. I'm just going to go back to my little corner of Howrse and not worry about it though. I love my little Newfie pixels and that all that really matters. default smiley (lol)

Rymskynx - i am sorry you are feeling disheartened. I am a NIB Connie breeder, and have not bought passes with real money since i gave up GP breeding almost a year ago. If you train, blup and fully bold all skills, you can get good results with lower GP foundies, not just 351.20 GP ones. Also, in my experience, GP breeding is not about a race for the best GP. I have found within Connie NIB circles, its about getting good line, good skills and the best GP you can for the stage you are at, and working with other breeders to make progress. The thing with NIB breeding is that all of us will continually need to blup foundations and 1st and 2nd gens etc to keep raising our GP as each raise in GP needs a whole new set of lines.
By Retired breeder, 2nd December 2009 16:08:21
I'm sorry you feel discouraged - but for me NIB isn't about competing, it's like a personal project and each distinct line is valuable (which isn't the case in the GP race). I'm not in it to be the best, just to breed newfies that I believe to be good quality and to see how far I can get. I also haven't recently bought passes - it's very possible to support your NIB breeding with equus and passes earned in-game.
Well as always now I feel like an idiot. This is why I keep to myself. So I'll leave you all to it and go back to that. Definately good luck everyone persuing NIB breeding, and Happy Howrsing to all. default smiley (y)

Don't feel you need to go, honestly - this topic is a good place for NIB breeders to support each other and discuss breeding/training tips, etc. Besides, at some point most NIB breeders will need to work together (I'm thinking by gen. 6 I might need to compromise my plan and bring in horses from other lines).
By Retired breeder, 2nd December 2009 16:24:12
I am feeling your thoughts about the higher gens Inner Chorus as i am currently at 5G, and the amount of blupping to produce a 2nd 5G to breed with is mind boggling. By 6G i will need a straight jacket!
Rymskynx, please dont go on my account, if i have offended you in any way i am sorry. I think i misconstrued your earlier message as i have just visited your page and realise you are a very established NIB player, and my advice was aimed at someone new to NIB default smiley :)
