This thread is here to show off your Retired Coats. This is not the place to post non retired coats. **The two exceptions would be coats that have been pulled (brief discussions) and the pre release coats.

REMEMBER:

******** absolutely no sales talk, no talk about spares or how many extras of a copy you got and selling them to fund your RC habit this is just a place to talk RCs

* although links and graphics are ok on this thread, they are not allowed normally on public forums

* any negative or unkind comments on artists or coats (or anyone!) will be removed, and depending on the case, it might mean an instant forum ban.

* DO NOT use this as a place to sell your horse/coats-if you feel the need to break this rule, it will mean an instant forum ban...

** Sales ads are NOT allowed in any public forums. Asking for spare coats will now be considered a sales ad. This includes stating that you plan to sell a coat, or point out coats for sale in sales.

* Do not use this place as a spot for rants or complaints-About coats/BG/or each other.

* This is not the place to ask players to price your coats, or to ask others the worth of a coat, you can check uses on your own by hovering your mouse over the gray apple and price it from there.

* This is not the place to bring up the subject of stolen images. Keep in mind that the rules of the BP used to be very different, and many old coats are from that time.
There is not any reason to bring that up, or report the coats.

*Please do not do a coat countdown for soon to retire coats.

* Please do not post coats that are currently in the GA and have either not retired, or will never retire.

* Please do not post coat/bg combos or ask opinions on them, except following coat release.

* Some coats may be removed in the future, whether that be for problems with the coats itself or just because they're clearing room on the server to allow other coats to be uploaded - if you're buying retired coats, please keep that in mind. If you want a permanent copy, I would recommend saving the graphic to your computer

* How to discover who many uses a New GC coat will retire-There is now a coat countdown in the GA, and it will show how many have been used and how many uses there are left.

** There is now a new creations directory which shows all coats. Go to Community>>>Directories>>>Creations>>>Click more criteria, and on the left hand side is a gold and silver apple. Click the silver apple and search to see all retired coats.

* To see who created/how many uses/name/or if you have it already of a RC coat, simply click on the silver apple, and it will tell you.

*** Posting links to other player's coats is NOT allowed and can mean a forum ban.

*#*#*#* If players feel the need break the main topic rules, such as sales ads/coat countdowns/spares-you can expect an instant forum ban without any warning prior to it *#*#*#*

My coats will be available for a couple of days.... but only on reservation.... default smiley ;)

I think most of the retired coats are a lot nicer than the ones available now.
Not all of them, but I don't think some of them should have been taken off.
The thing is, some of them were "nicer" because they were directly from photos or copyrighted material and had to be removed. I don't think Howrse removes coats for no reason, and the artists of the coats can deactivate their coats at any time as well.

I was just putting a ga coat on and realized 3 of my retired coats are back in again,is that possible?I mean I checked before I bought these horse and you could not place the coat on,now they are back in the ga coats.
By Retired breeder, 16th June 2009 03:42:34
Yep,I just clicked on my coats again and they still say it's retired but how are they in the ga gallery for selection?
By Retired breeder, 16th June 2009 05:54:44
marlie, go back and read the past few pages . . . then you can be as confused as the rest of us.
By Retired breeder, 16th June 2009 06:00:49
Although I understand about the situation going on......I am confused by the craxor thing (no offense) but.......how is it ok for someone to retire a coat, re-activate it a few month's later, retired it again, then re-activate it, then retire it again a few hour's later?? Do they get to start over on their pass earning's? What would the purpose be? JUST CURIOUS This is also changing my way of thinking about collecting. Although I have several hundred retired coat's, I now see the problem----what good are they to collect, trade or sell if I can just wait for Craxor to re-activate her's (they seem to be one of the most valuable....hence, the example) I was planning on to continue my collecting.....of the "real" retired coat's (I do think the current one's are a coding problem) but.....why am I wasting my money/passes now? It is my option to spend my money/passes/time on this game, but I feel cheated that I did not have all the "rule's, example's, situation's & what-not presented before me to make a choice.
By Retired breeder, 16th June 2009 06:03:18
Another thing.....I feel just as bad as you other collector's & I am honoring any refund's for any coat's I have sold that are not retired.
By Retired breeder, 16th June 2009 06:46:38
The owner of the coat can do whatever he wants.... activate or deactivate the coat default smiley ;)
As my coats seem to be valuable, I will activate them for a very few players, to keep their value up.
As for CraXoR or anyone else putting their coats up on the black market again:

Nobody can reserve the coat but the coat maker can agree to put the coat back open to the public for that friend. If someone were to happen to catch the coat on the public market at that time then they could also buy the coat.

I have seen the CraXoR coats sell for 10 passes because they are really nice coats. I spent like 35,000 for one retired coat but it was stolen art and few made. Unless the maker does not exist any more you cannot guarantee that it is not retired. Some however are definitely not coming back though but it seems that some players including one from 2007 still have active accounts. Get some passes on your account and it does not dissappear is a rumour I have heard.

I can tell you for sure that the one on Satisfying Snickers in my Connies and my paint named Logow is retir3ed as athe owner is gone. My hunter Silver Bells has a blue and white coat that was pulled for reasons I cannot say publicly..

http://static.howrse.com.s3.amazonaws.com/production/goldenApple/555-normal1.jpg
Place that in a window then change the number to 556 then 557 and keep going.
There used to be a coat 556 but it does not now exist. My forum has th ecoats I have found for my friend and you can see that I have checked up to 173 so far and those I have listed are the only coats available from 100 to 173.

I recommend naming coats something like RC 101 or Coat 101 so that you can see youru collection and avoid duplication. I am going to have to buy more passes to make up for the cost of buying coats.

The coat artist has the power to active or deactivate their coat, and I think it's always been that way. While I understand the frustration on the part of collectors, retired coat collecting isn't really one of the "goals" on Howrse and I don't really know how they could monitor or enforce coat retirement (outside of obvious copyright issues) without removing the power from the person who made the coat, which would also be unfair.

Well, that is true that it would be unfair but it also unfair for me to buy or sale a so called retire coat for 30000e when it goes back on the market and can be bought cheap like the very common coats,I think it should be they can bring a coat out of retirement to sell to a friend but not be able to sale publically, although I guess,it would be hard to inforce that as well.Maybe a coat should only be allowed to be up for sale for a certain period of time and after that time it can no longer be used anymore,I don't know,I just know for a collector, especially a new one like me,are for the most part getting ripped off,and even though it isn't the goal of the game it is a major part, otherwise this forumwouldn't be here,no offense to anyone who pulls their coats out of retrement, but I will not be buying their coats if I feel they will be back out again, with all the creative ways howrse has found to make this a very interesting game,I know they could find a way to fix this as well.
By Retired breeder, 16th June 2009 17:37:34
Something else, the mod's post says to make sure the coat is not avalable before you post the pic of it in this forum, again, how do we know,I just don't get it,I went and bought a coat for 45000e just because I saw it in this forum and 2 days later,it was back up for grabs.
By Retired breeder, 16th June 2009 17:44:44
we are in a free world !

let the coat owners do what they want

I deactivated my coats because I got all the passes I could out of them
I didn't ask the players to make a collector out them...

So, when I want to activate them, I do...
And if you are lucky, you will get a nice valuable coat for nothing (except the GA of the BM)

Ok, to be fair---after talking to you Craxor---I'm ok with the answer's I have recieved---that's all I asked for were answer's. I am positive that your coat will still have the value it has alway's have, you releasing a few more is not going to change that. I also am going to be fair in saying that I am sure that this problem will be solved---I know thing's happen--I know that I am out money & passes on the 15+ retired coat's that went retired last week, but I have a feeling it was an error & they are not retired. So anyhow, like I said, I was mainly looking for answer's, I went out & seemed to find what I was asking, so I am ok right now---just trying to be fair. I had NO intention on "bashing" Craxor or anyone else that create's & retire's coat's.....I just wanted info! Thanks
I bestowed CraXoR's wonderful coat on my TB skillie yesterday! It was only coincidence that I happened to scroll to the last page chronologically because I normally don't but when I saw it I knew that it was the most suitable coat for Sir Gallahad.

I really don't have a problem with a creator being able to "unretire" their coat - that's always been a part of the game. However, I don't think the coats that started all this fall into the same category - I think a coding issue or other glitch on Howrse has resulted in many of us spending tons of money and passes on coats that aren't really retired.

If we click on a coat and are taken to the page where the coat is not shown, we should be able to feel confident that the coat is not currently available. It is utterly ridiculous to have to scroll through pages of coats to see if it happens to be there. It's also ridiculous to buy a coat for a horse and as soon as it's on the horse, have it appear retired when you click on it.

That's what I think needs to be addressed!
By Retired breeder, 16th June 2009 18:59:03
CraXoR,,the way you have put it into words seems to me you are doing exactly what I said should be done, you are only allowing a few folks to get the coat,my problem is with a certain coat, that you did not create, that only went retired for 2 days and now can be bought by as many people that wants it,I think the way you are doing it is fine.I just wish other players would follow the same way.
By Retired breeder, 16th June 2009 19:30:49
I also have no problem with what CraXoR has chosen to done - in fact I think that if coat creators want to bring back retired coats now and then, that's the best way to do it. Thre coats uses were still limited and it will not (in my eyes) have been significantly devalued by letting a few people use it over a couple of days. It was just bad luck that I ended up paying passes for a horse with one of the coats just before they were made available again, but hey, I have doubles of those ones now...

Hoping the glitch will be resolved soon. It's not good for collectors or coat creators to have coats fasely lead people to believe they are retired when they are clicked.
