submitted a ticket about this top panel. I don't know if they'll listen, but it literally starting to provoke attack of nausea and headache, it have neved ever happened during the years I played here (and on other sites I visit actively, it is fine, I'm switching tabs and my eyes are resting from this horror). Who even thought it is a great idea to design something like THAT? :| I can't even run from it when scrolling down, it chase me lol. trying not to look at this for now, but it's not that easy.
maybe it is really strange, but it is how it is.

As a longtime Howrse member, I echo the complaints with the updated user interface, especially the fixed top header and revised navigation bar. The new website design contradicts existing principles of web development, especially functionality, visual appeal, and a user intuitive interface.

From a user interface (UI) standpoint, the fixed top header bar is nonintuitive and aesthetically displeasing. The fixed header covers portions of the main website content, thereby reducing the overall functionality of the website. Furthermore, I find the frosted glass effect to be visually unappealing. In turn, the web developers replaced the previous header design with an awkward and unattractive alternative.

Another complaint includes the revised navigation bar. I personally do not understand the decision to create a new top-level category, thereby shifting the other top-level categories to the right. As a longtime Howrse member, these changes contradict my muscle memory.

Along similar lines, I question the design choices for the new top level category, “Today.” After hovering my cursor over the category, the page displays different webpages horizontally. To the right of these options, the navigation bar displays negative space with the frosted glass effect. As stated above, I find the frosted glass effect to be visually displeasing—moreover, the frosted glass covers sections of the website. Likewise, I wish the web development team would eliminate this category and move these options to the top of the banner.



In short, I hope the Howrse development team listens to the community’s response regarding the updated user interface.

hi. returning long-time Howrse player here. i really dislike the new interface. the fixed top bar is bothering me and this was a very unpleasant thing to come back to.

what, exactly was wrong with the old one? as the saying goes, if it aint broke, don't fix it.

It's one thing to make us get used to a new look, but I can't even open other Howrse versions in a new tab anymore... So many unecessary clicks. And I couldn't even figure out how to get to the forum for a moment. Plus the blurred bar is really annoying.

As a laptop player I can safely say this design change will massively hinder my gameplay and enjoyment of it. It is absolutely awful and it triggers migraines.

Just... STOP pandering to mobile. I would not touch the mobile version with a barge pole. I want the old-school desktop experience; if I wanted a mobile version I would not be on this game to begin with.

Well this is an ugly and poorly designed ui, why shift everything over? Why put a permanent reminder at the top that chases you and makes it annoying to the eye? The frosted look is causing me to try to avoid looking at the top, I can't imagine how much it is hurting other players that might have other vision issues besides just glasses or contacts. Rounded edges, shifting the whole design to the right, it is like coming back to your home after being away and someone has moved all of the furniture.

It is not intuitive design, it makes the game look childish instead the familiarity of the older layout. I've been here since the game pretty much started, I've been here through the changes and the addition of money grabs by owlient (now ubisoft, shocker that they are further messing with their player base by making the game headache inducing). I don't get only daily like I used to, because the game isn't fun with everything they keep throwing at us. The promos or events don't have time to land, they are gone within the week for most of them (i've missed two in the times I've not been on), then they cater them to items that aren't that useful or even worth the effort of trying to get them.

It's irritating that the game developers (or ruiners) are treating the players like this as if they aren't driving away their paying players.

I can only second what others are saying; I also thought it was a new bug or glitch in the site and came to ask if anyone else was experiencing the same problem, but then of course the forum wasn't where it was supposed to be either. I agree it's seriously messing with my muscle memory... like someone coming into your house in the middle of the night and moving all your furniture six inches to the left so now you're bumping into everything constantly

I've tried to accept this new look but that top header that keeps following me around when I scroll has got to go! It's 10xs worse than the notification bar that pops up that I don't like either.

Post horse-care update:

- The events banner should be put back in its old place. Currently where it is, when you go to feed your horses it opens the pop-up EVERY single time because the "feed" button is right there and there's no way to select the fodder amount and avoid mousing over it.

- The stupid moving bar that follows you down the page is completely unnecessary. The only (very minor) benefit is that the page-back is now readily available without having to scroll, but the fact that it's in the way when you're doing horse care isn't worth that. Being able to see the weather/equus/passes is not necessary. I don't look at those often enough to need them constantly there on the page.

- The rest of the layout is technically fine, if they want to condense the dropboxes and make them outlined/rounder I don't really care about the little aesthetic changes. I liked it better before, but it's not a big deal to have a fresh look. But the two things I mentioned above genuinely affect gameplay in a negative way.

Can't do ANYTHING on mobile anymore. Can't find horses, can't enter the Prix, can't participate in events. Nothing. THIS is why we need to test it before it goes live. Worst update ever.. of ALL time

I also just want to clarify. After having read some more posts and see that the mobile people are having a hard time. I do not use mobile and just my laptop with the classic version and I am not liking it. I feel for all you mobile users.

Bad update. I could maybe get used to the extra clicks to get to forums etc (although I did mostly stop looking at the employees page and rankings after those got buried deeper, and stopped doing rosette hunters as often because I wasn't looking at the rankings) but the header bar is a waste of space and the blur effect is worse than a solid color.

There's a big gap between the tan page and the headers on most pages except Forums and Horses, is something holding a space for the ads even though I have a VIP subscription?

I've played Howrse for 15 of it's 20 years.
I am not being dramatic when I state this new UI update makes me want to simply delete my game and all 15 years progress. It is the ugliest thing I have ever seen, it's an eyestore, it makes playing for any length of time unpleasant on a physical level.

Really really dislike this new set up. Please put it back the way it was.

- The menus/drop downs are too massive & block half the page.

- The "Today" button is especially invasive when trying to work a horse & accidentally mouse over it.

- I don't need the top banner to be static. It cuts off yet more of the working page that already is not enough room without scrolling up & down to use.

- Why is the font so huge? Yikes.

The new design is a nice surprise and the improvement is especially noticable on mobile. The way they're intentional about keeping the game nostalgic while improving what's necessary really shows, chefs kiss!
It'll be interesting to see how this potentially improves the ratings on the App Store/Google Play and attracts new players.

It's triggering a migraine for me too, I submitted a support ticket asking for, at the very least, a toggle option in settings to turn off the blurred static bar. It's an accessibility issue. I work on computers and play Howrse in my free time, before this I have never had an issue with screens triggering migraines (admittedly I use a blue light filter on all my monitors/devices, HOWEVER there's literally nothing I can do on my end to fix the static, blurred bar).

Contrary to some opinions, I like the new changes. It looks cleaner. Especially like the fact that the events aren't always flashing at the top like they use to. (which I found annoying) However the Howrse logo bar should stay where it is and not scroll down the page. I do play on a computer and not mobile so I can't say how that is.

I hope Howrse realizes this is literally worse than the Trophy update fiasco. At least with that, players could continue normal gameplay without issue, even if all their goals and achievements had been stolen from them.

This is substantially worse for literally no benefit.

I came back to play for nostalgia so I am not a fan of the new update. I'll bet that much of the audience that's come back would agree as well.
