We'll get used to the updates. I'm actually sort of excited about them now. I just want them to come so I can learn how to use them.

I love how Owlient used to say draft horses would not be able to be put in the game, lol.

To those who are disliking the updates just a thought :

Did you know how lucky howrse is to have all these updates - have a look at other online games and compare, some games never have updates - never.

Imagine you have played this game for a couple of years on the run, wouldn't you be bored when logging onto your account to see the same things over and over again?

There are always tweaks on the updates that people dislike - nothing is perfect but we just have to get over it and move on - there will always be things some we don't like.

Just so happens - I've been working on a little advice topic in my forum for this very purpose:

Click to display
Repair your boxes Sunday night (or sometime before the update)! This will allow you more time to gather resources as well as remove the worry that you might not have enough resources to repair your boxes.

If you have the means to make Mashes and Manure - do so before the update. After this, it will take longer to produce these items. This will help ensure you have a good stock of them.

Save your equus. This will come in handy for buying resources later that you can not get through missions (Ex. Sand and Wood if your Center is in the Mountains)

That is to everyone's luck. 1,000 passes is too much and doesn't make them in the slightest special. After you spend your first 100 you realize you still have 900 left and they aren't special anymore. The same thing has happened with divines and specials...

Yeah, it is too are luck. The 1,000 passes aren't too special after you spend the first 100. The same overuse of divines have happened too...

Sorry, thought my laptop wasn't working. *blush*
Is the only way to gain resources going to be doing missions or will there be alternatives (not buying from the shop though)? It's just that I don't have boarders in my EC

So I guess now will be a good time to change all crops and droppings into mashes and manure?

Also on the subject on complaining. Just like to point out that we have as much of a right to voice our dislike as you do to voice your love for the changes that are coming. Everyone has different opinions and that should be respected.

I've also seen a couple of mods saying to repair boxes on sunday evening

The updates really aren't so bad - once they are active, they make a lot more sense.

Yes, this game is about breeding horses - but not all of us care about having the best horses, being part of the GP race, breeding teams, etc. Some of us just play around on here for fun as we can't be with horses in real life.

The EC side of things however is just another side of caring for Horses. You will always need a place to keep your horses, and not everyone can afford (or has the space) to have their horse right in their own yard on their property. That's where a Stable or Equestrian Center comes into play.

The owner of the Stable needs to make sure that they have enough space, enough food, bedding, etc. at all times so that your horse is cared for, and that you are getting what you paid for. Of course to do so - they need money. Some of this comes from your fee to board your horse there, some of it probably comes from other sources like:

Offering Riding Lessons/Trail Rides - some stables have their own Stable horses and/or *with the owner's permission* allow their boarded horses to be used for the purpose of teaching others to ride and/or go out on the trail to take in the sights

Offering other lessons - the stable I used to ride at offered various other classes to learn things like proper grooming, horse care, etc.

Selling goods - Some stables I've found actually sell various other goods like homemade horse treats, hay and grain. Those that are actual farms as well I've seen selling fresh produce, eggs, etc.

So to me, these changes actually DO help to make the game more realistic, while adding in an additional challenge. Those who care about the Breeding side and having the best horses can still continue to do so - sure, they might have some new challenges to overcome, but somethings might actually become easier.

Those who prefer the EC side of things, now have more to play around with, thus reducing the current monotony of it (extend board, plant crops, rotate meadows, harvest crop, rotate meadows, plant crop, repair boxes, harvest crop, and so on)

I will be honest and admit there are some changes that I do not like coming up:

Resources used to repair boxes and the like
Crafting of some items *cough* mashes and manure *cough*

And I will be honest and admit that there are some I love:

More greenhouses and meadows for crops
The ability to craft certain items *cough* water troughs, 3* tacks *cough*

And then there are some I am indifferent to:

The removal of the Meadow and box actions
The addition of workshops *they are not required, and may or may not make things easier for some*

In the end though, I find that I can still play the game the way I want, and that I can still have fun doing so.

Thats what I was saying before, We are so lucky to have a website that updates constantly. I was on howrse when there were vaccines and had those old coats, and to this day, i miss that stuff so much (even though one of my horses died of colic) And I have been on howrse quite sometime and wouldnt mind tweeking, but big changes make me upset honestly default smiley (lol)

Missions, Buying them, UFOs and/or Growing are the ways

Click to display
All centers can grow Crops and Cows for Leather, bedding, and other items (fodder, oat, etc).

Missions will only bring in one kind of resource - and that resource is based on where the Center is located:

Mountain: Iron
Forest: Wood
Beach: Sand

All centers will be able to buy resources from the Store. This will be the only way that a Center will be able to get the other 'Mission Resources'

Ex. A Center in the Mountains will only bring in Iron with Missions - if they want to craft boxes, they will need to buy Sand and Wood from the store.

It's possible in the future that other ways will be added (Ex. winning them from promotions) but at present time, these are the only known ways

I really have no problem with most of these changes, but it is the fact they keep putting all these big ones on the game too quickly. I do like the monthly changes but I feel that Howrse are just adding these EC changes too fast and need to give us time to get use to them.

I will agree there (true, there was a 2 month gap between the last one and the current one, but I still see players asking some of the same questions about those changes)

Looking on the bright side ~ to quote the Preprod EC Time Line:

Click to display
Equestrian center prestige

These changes will take place towards the end of March

Water troughs and 3*** equipment will be taken into account when calculating equestrian center prestige.

As is already the case with showers, water troughs are taken into account in the equestrian center comfort rating. You need one per box in order to receive the highest prestige value. So head to your workshop and get to work!
3*** equipment provides the best prestige value; 2** equipment is no longer sufficient. So head to your workshop and get to work!

Draft horses

These new features will be released in May

Two draft horse breeds are added to the game!

Draft horse breeds work in the same manner as donkeys, meaning they can breed three times in their lifetime.
They behave the same as other horses (BLUP, competitions, training...).
Mission earnings are twice the earnings of a regular horse: they earn twice as many skill points, twice as many Equus and bring twice as many resources or Equus to the equestrian center.
Players can submit creations for draught horses in the creative space.

What's next?

The equestrian center overhaul is almost done!

We will make the final adjustments as we go.

Stay tuned...

So it seems that after the final March tweaks, there will just be some final work done (probably small things of tweaking this, fixing that, etc) and then we will be done with EC changes

That was years ago.. The company has been sold since then and stuff. That's why we're getting things they used to think wasn't going to be possible.

Actually, no. I wouldn't have minded if the game was like it was when I started playing in ~2007. I also don't really mind the changes but I wouldn't have been bored of it .. default smiley :p

Nope, they are destroyed with the meadow (tested this on my US account where I don't exactly care if I lose something)
