Ok, so i see there is a big debate between the free new players and the pass buyers. Here's my take.

1)Howrse is a game that is designed to make a profit for it's developers. Therefore, the pass buyers will always have a leg up because Howrse makes money off of them. However, I would say that over half of players do not buy passes. So, howrse has to try to accommodate both sides. In case you haven't noticed, it's a bit of a messy process. If you 100% can't handle not being able to reach that last tier, you have two options. Quit or Pay. For me, I've chosen to see if I can beat these good horses with mine. And I can sometimes. I've learned to settle with being second best, but not rolling over in defeat.

2) The top teams and breeders put A LOT of time and often real money into where they are right now. So don't think they got there by sitting on their hands. They have every right to defend their hard work. Because of their work, you can look up how to BLUP and Skill. They are the reason you don't have to figure this all out by yourself. So be a little more grateful to them for their work. I certainly am, even if sometimes their horses make my life more difficult. I know that it takes work. I've played this game for almost 4 years, and got my first divine THIS YEAR playing Etria, which isn't event part of howrse. I got my first rosette this year as well, after a lot of work and grinding out Skills based on tips I learned from them, and adapted to fit my style of doing things.

3) If you are a new player, success in this game isn't easy. But you can do it. High up on this page, and in my forum, I have a message for you guys. You can do it. Everyone here was you guys once.

4) The key here is that if you want to be good, it takes work. There are no hand outs. especially for free players like myself. That is why some high ranking players are so irritated, because all of their work means nothing if new players can just come and get success so easily. Even if the uni is 2000 to the top GP. Going from 2000 under top is a lot easier than a basic 350 gp to top GP, especially for top GP breeds like thoroughbred, selle francais, ect. No, that is not an exaggeration. Howrse's developers didn't just come in and raise everyone's GP. Players put in he work to push it there, 1 skill point at a time. Some of these players have been playing and working on their breeds for a long time. So please don't expect them to be happy with this new deal.

In the end, play your own game. No one says you have to be in the wacky GP race, You can go for best EC, or work with the rare breeds who don't have the massive teams pushing them up. You have options and choices. So respect others choices, and make your own choice.

Alrighty. I've been searching through the last few pages, and I'm a bit confused

What is the divine doing with the uni GP? And now we have the chance of possibly getting a pass every 3 days?

This is a new system of getting passes. It will be like the loyalty pass system we have now except it will give you a pass at 30 points and you can get up to 10 points per day.
this will replace the pass horses we have now.

Ok, the uni GP thing

The upcoming plant divine Kaktos will give out a unicorn foundation when he is pruned. The issue some of us have with it is that there is a small handful of uni breeds that do not have high GP, such as Newfoundlands whose top GP is 3907 and foundations out today have a GP of 2970, which went up from yesterday I think. The difference is less than 1000 points. Kaktos will give out rolling gain foundation unicorns that will undermine the work done by uni breeders as some of the breeds will have foundation GP that is awfully close to the top GP on the game.

Most of the breeds, like Knabstruppers or TBs, or whatever, aren't an issue because their top GP is 7000+. It's just that there are some breeds that don't have high GP, and those breeds are the reason why some of us would like to see the Kaktos foundation GP lowered, or at least put to a set amount. since it increases so rapidly.

I've already posted this before, so it's probably redundant for some people.

On 4 servers (CZ, IT, BG and RU) pass horses are no longer a thing. The 31 passes we can get per month now are reduced to a possible 10 passes per moth. The loyal pass meter we have now will max out at 30 points instead of 300 and in order to get passes you have to earn a total of 30 points to get your pass, with a max of 10 poiints earned per day. Which means if you're lucky enough to get 10 points over the course of 3 days then you can get a pass every 3 days.

What happens to older horses: When you send your first 10 horses that are 25 years or older to heaven you will get Yggdrasil. From then on, every time you send a horse 25 years or older to heaven you get tree rings for him that you can use to age him up. His appearance will change and you'll eventually get a photo album where you can scroll through all his appearance changes. Aside from the appearance change thing by adding these tree rings he does nothing else except that you can rename him. He offers no gift, you can't care for him which includes entering competitions.

I created an account on the CZ server to play around with it myself, and from November (when it was implemented) until February players reported issues with receiving the 10 points like they used to, meaning it was taking them days to get a single pass. They went through about two more updates to it until April where Admin reported it was finally "fixed" and that it should be easier to get points now. Players have reported a more consistent earning in points, but others are still frustrated as they aren't earning 10 points every day no matter what they do.

I've only logged on the CZ a couple times since the most recent update and received no more than 9 points the days I logged on and worked my account. It's not a reliable system in any way even if you do get 9-10 points the days you log in. If you miss one day of logging in you're guaranteed to *not* get 10 passes a month

Seriously, this isn't' as reliable as it sounds, and we're going from the current 31 free passes a month to only 10 a month, and that's if you're lucky enough to log in every day and get a perfect score of 10 points every singe day.

the next one is
this post on the previous page gives info on the next event.

You can see all the ways to get passes for free under section 1.7 of the breeder's manual. We haven't had any changes to it.

You know, I would like this pass change more if we didn't have the vexing earn 10 points deal. Howrse, if you don't want us to get mad, then just make it so when we log in we get 10 points everyday like we already do. I'd like this change a lot more then, but nooooo, always trying to make it hard for us to get our passes, huh Howrse?

card packs will also be an option along with the jokers. You get a pack of 4 cards for one pass (or diamonds). You get 2 bronze cards, at least one of which you don’t yet have and 2 rarer cards. Joker packs were 5 passes (or diamonds) and contained...3 jokers? I can't remember. Not sure which weekends we'll see which Pack as they have differed in previous editions of this.

what's the point of forcing us to use the spoiler banner for literally everything in this thread if the whole point of the thread is spoilers? honest question.

That way if you use the forum search you won't have information spoiled if it pops up in that. Or if you are coming here looking for information/guides on the current event you won't accidentally see something about a future event

Hey, I'm trying to complete this cards promo, and I'm wondering roughly how many passes it will take also taking into account the special offers? I'm rather new to the game, so this is the first cards promo that I'm actually trying to finish, and I don't know what the likelihood of getting most of the cards is.

It will take about 20. Joker packs are 5 passes for 5 cards. And you need to buy 4 packs at least.

The debate on the Foundation uni GP probably now really belongs in the topic about the current event but it is being discussed here so I will answer here.

Concerning the gp of the foundation uni foals given by Kaktos: The base GP of a unicorn with parents Ouranos/Gaia is always a set percentage lower than the best pure unicorn in the game from the weakest unicorn breed. This is server specific so the gp of the Kaktos foals will be slightly different on different game versions.

This message was also posted on preprod towards the end of the last session, like me I suspect many players missed it
