New stuff (after the C__event)
Click to display

A couple images of this were posted on Howrse's Instagram story this morning as well.

New divine series: Tangaroa of the Maori horses

His perk *this is roughly translated*
Tangaroa has a tiki that you must complete mana.
to do this, dig three nests of turtles every day and see if there are baby turtles.
1 = 5 x mana turtle
2 turtle x = 20 mana
3 turtles = 80 x mana
When the tiki contains 800 x mana, Tangaroa offers you a gift:
1 x The 5th Element

The contest will be like a beach theme of the Halloween Trick-or-Treat at the Pony Club event.

It literally just started testing on Equideow, so I don't really have anymore pertinent information, and our test server will probably open next week anyway so we'll have a good translation of it.

But for anyone who'd like to know what's coming up after the Cards, this looks to be it.

so basically howrse must favour a few breeding teams consisting of 5- 10 members over a couple hundred thousand users, some of whom can't even get unis? You know, some times change is good.

The issue is that those few teams are the ones who put in the effort. They took the breed from, oftentimes, foundation level and brought it up to where it is. Any of those other players can just pick up a random uni in the sales for ~30,000 equus for the sake of owning one, but doesn't it make sense that the people who put in the effort should be the only ones reaping the benefits of that effort (i.e., higher GP)? As bezo said, you can earn the equus fairly easily and could get an uni if you wanted to. People in teams spent even more on their unicorns. We were are new players once so we understand what it feels like, but when you really think about it, it's fair to allow the average person to work up to the team level themselves just as everyone else did, not just be able to produce one right away.

I mean if you were on one of those unicorn teams and had spent years working with a breed building it up, especially with the effort unicorns require, and then Howrse decided to just give other players unicorns of the same level you had spent years achieving, wouldn't you be a little upset? I don't breed unicorns myself but it's not hard to see from their point of view.

Tangaroa

Tangaroa is one of the Maori horses.

Tangaroa has Tiki, which you have to fill with mana.
To do this, you have to search through three turtle nests, to find out, if there are any turtles:
1 turtle = 5x mana
2 turtles = 20x mana
3 turtles = 80x mana
When Tiki reaches 800 mana, Tangaroa will offer you a gift - 5. Element.

"Pactole" is Croesus' Fortune, and "eperon" should be spurs. I'm not sure either on the Hypnos' Blanket as the 2nd last prize as it seems oddly low-value at that level.

Tangaroa looks a little weird to me. Its back has some bumps where I expect it to be smooth, and the tail doesn't look like it's at a realistic angle. I feel like the artist went all-out on the anterior part of the horse, but had to meet deadlines or something for the posterior. default smiley :s

Not to incite a panic, BUT; the unicorns Kaktos gives are currently 2951gp and WILL rise.

That is quite literally only *1000gp* under the top gp of several unicorn breeds.

For instance, Irish Hunter Unicorns. They have a top GP of around 4000 and a sales gp of 1700.

The Kaktos foundies would be like if Selle Francias horses of 16,000 GP (yes, 16,000gp) were dumped into sales. (Since SF top gp is very close to sales gp.)

The admins aren't being very responsive to our requests to hold back the release of Kaktos till we can find a more reasonable solution.

I understand they are busy and changing coding takes *time and money*.

Preprod ends very soon. I fear that hundreds, perhaps thousands, of players will loose years of hard work and passes spent, building up from 350gp.

Please, if there is anything you can do, ask that they do NOT bring ridiculously high GP unicorn foundies to the game! We are asking that the foundies be proportionate to unicorns of that breed, but so far there has really been no reply to that. (Ex. foundies of 1200gp for breeds of a top gp of 4000.)

Thank you.

More about K___ and the gift he offers - please read it!

I've send a letter to contact us. Got a polite reply that contact us is for live features. That we should discus it on prepod. And we have, but do not get much feed back. We've been allowed to test the foals Kaktos offers (and thank you for that). Like lovetopaint says, he does indeed offer unis with a GP of 2951.

The test on prepod ends Monday the 22nd, so I don't think we will get the option to talk to the mods about possibly changing the GP on the uni foal offered.

Here is my letter:

Please reconsider the perk given by the upcoming divine called Kaktos.

The non unicorn foundation horses are now around 3000 GP.
If Kaktos is going to offer rolling gain foundation unicorns, a player owning the divine will get a unicorn that has 2940+ in GP. (And the unicorn offered will keep on having higher and higher GP).

It's outrageous. The GP race is way out of hand as it is.

I checked the overall GP on some breeds May 10th. Here are some numbers:

Top GP Arabians are 8070.74 GP - a foundie would get 2940

Top GP Knabs are 8160.79 - a foundie would get 2940

Top GP Vanner are 7272.77 - a foundie would get 2940

Examples from the less popular breeds
Top GP Brumby are 3077.38 - a foundie would get 2640

Top GP Morgan are 5646.03 - a foundie would get 2940,81

Top GP trakes are 4959.99 - a foundie would get 2940

Top GP Irish are 4844.42 - a foundie would get 2940

Top GP Holstein are 6277.29 - a foundie would get 2940

and I could continue.

It takes a LOT of dedication to breed unicorns.
I've got a Holstein team running with a good friend of mine. We have been breeding them non competitively from old foundie stock (350 GP), since December 2014. My friend uses public covers every now and then. But I haven't used them in a long time. And honestly I'm very proud of how far we have managed to go GP wise.

We're both very proud of our stock, and love the fact that their not high end GP horses.
Breeding unicorns is no easy task, and it shouldn't be either.

The competition is extremely fierce at the top of the GP race.
One of the reason we did pick the Holstein unicorns, is because their not popular. That means it's possible to play more laid back, enjoy each pixel horse more, and not jump around in vain, trying to keep up with the insanely high GP horses.

Our highest GP is currently 1.685.64 - and that GP is gonna be creamed by a foundation horse - surely I am NOT the only one who can see just how messed up that is?

Please do not let Kaktos offer rolling gain unicorns.

The game needs to offer players the option to enjoy breeding and working lower end GP horses. As it has been for years. One of the main reasons I Keep on playing, is that exact option. I can choose to have a few higher end horses, but can still have my main focus on lower end stock. Their just more fun - frustrating to work at times, but more fun.
If all we have are 8000+ GP horses everything will become pretty pointless, and you might as well cut down the number of breeds.

On prepod we were informed today, that the GP of the Kaktos unis won't surpass the dedicated teams. But what does that mean exactly?

Thank you for reading this.

All you new players, don't give up!! You can do it! You just have to put in the effort.
ALWAYS manage your equus. Set goals for how much you want to have in your reserve, and don't compromise. Don't forget to claim that free pass when you can. default smiley ;) Set goals for where you want your EC to be (number of boxes, quality, items available to boarders). Having an EC will help you earn money. If you buy cows and grow leather, you can make luges in your workshop and sell them. Right now they're going for over 7,000e a piece and even a few luges add up. Set goals for what you want to get out of this game. You get out what you put in. If you want a strong horse, work for it. get the playing skills! BLUP it and train it as best you can (if you ever need help, PM me. I do thoroughbreds, marwari, shire, hackney, and Arabians). Work hard at events, you might not get the divine, but you can get helpful BMI and other stuff. Always pick the highest GP covering you can afford if your looking to have strong skilled horses. Reach out to teams! Some will offer coverings (although they are usually max price). Don't worry! Do what YOU want.

Always remember that although teams seem mean and exclusive, they're only like that because, like me, they put in the time, and the work, and often for them real) money. Many teams will help you if you need it. Some mods and high ranking players have tips on their forums.

I know this because I was in your shoes once. I've been playing for almost four years. I've been on and off playing, but everything I have and own is from my own work. I had to find my own way to do things with helpful guides from more experienced players. So don't be afraid to ask. I do not buy passes, I do not farm passes regularly. I do not AP farm. However, I still have 22 immortal, GA, horses who I will keep for myself. I am not on a team. But I have put serious time into my thoroughbreds (my top breed). AND I have a horse with two rosettes which I worked extremely hard to win.

YOU CAN DO IT WITHOUT PASSES! You can have good horses without buying passes. It just takes work, strategy, and time.

But its not. Its still about 1000-2000 away from top gp. And unis are hard to breed. Just because a team is monopolizing profits of a certain uni breed doesnt mean that Howrse is doing anything unfair. To make up 2000 points in gp is very hard for regular breeds and incredibly hard for unis.

In my opinion, it will just bump up sales release a bit just as if someone had bought and bred unis himself and tossed them into sales.

Lets see :
How many players will get this new divine? Id say most of the top players or ones that will be spending passes. That excludes get rich quick players seeking to "dump" sales for unis, its not that profitable. You would have to spend 20+ average passes (not guaranteed price) to get him and then care for him every single day and then you average about 1 uni every 6-8 weeks.
That you can either : bolt and give out covers, most of which wont be used because a lot of people see unis as a money pit. Or throw into sales for 20 passes hoping to get your return on the divine. Which you wont be getting as no one will buy it. So in the end you might profit 3.-4 passes out of the divine. Hardly worth the effort and no I dont see howrse changing it.

The gp race is way out of hand. Teams monopolizing gp and then getting annoyed when someone breeds privately and "dumps" sales still 3000 points below their current!

Now if this divine was in hops and you could potentially be getting 10 unis of a higher gp and could start a reasonable team with that then id understand the concern.

I personally dont see this new divine being a big threat to anyone, so you might have to up your sales release by a bit. It happens all the time when team members get angry and leave, throwing all the top horses into the sales.
