Four colts and counting
Hey, so I know this might sound a little weird, but are there any crossbreeders out there who would be willing to take me under their wing and teach me the basics about it?

You will have to forgive me as this is my first crossbreed, but is she a good place to start my little crossbreeding side project ? There weren't any Arabians at the level I wanted to breed with so I decided to start a little side project default smiley xd

Looks good! I love an Arab x Selle, they're good little compers, I did a couple in the past such as Bonsai who won a rosette in both XC and SJ. Can't wait to see when trained up!

Just as a heads up, a lusitano and Tennessee cross makes horses good for trial class.

Hit me up. I've got about 5 years of crossbreeding experience--not as much as some of the folks on the game, but I know my way around it.default smiley ^)

So I bred this girl to experiment, and now I have a few questions
https://www.howrse.com/elevage/chevaux/cheval?id=62545679
She is equal part Lusitano and Irish Hunter as her highest percentages, so is it possible that if I use the same sire and dam that her siblings could be Irish Hunters instead of Lusitanos, like she is? Or are they all going to be the same breed? And how is the breed decided in this case?

Awesome! I found it out accidentally through my mare Europa, its just a shame that her GP is low. But I love it when horses are great for multiple competitions.

Best cross for cutting?
By Retired breeder, 3rd April 2020 17:44:30
I crossed a Lusi and a Criollo and got a Western Pleasure horse. Someone explain to me how that was possible.

The foal's GP is an average of the parents, and because Lusitano's trot GP is so high, it makes trot one of the top 3 skills for that particular cross.

But if you have a horse that really excels in stamina and dressage, then it can dominate low level pleasure (and/or reining comps). This one isn't a cross, but this purebred Paint has nearly 1500 Pleasure wins because I never trained up trot.

I have a cross - GonnaCarryThatWeight - who is Lipizzan 50.0%, Selle Français 43.8%, and Tennessee Walker 6.3% who seems to be good at cutting but I know that it is not particularly simple to get that combination. And, he also has reverse of what the top skill should be.

For a good cutting horse I recommend something with high stamina, dressage and speed. So maybe a gypsy vanner, for high stamina and dressage, cross mustang, speed and stamina, could work.

Okay team I've been away for literally years. What's going on? Apparently my last project was a KWPM/Selle Francais bred to do something pretty unclear.

What's a high GP these days?

High GP, is like, 16000+.

I would absolutely love to, but I've kind of got my hands full atm... and while I do own (one) TB, I have no paints.

Just something I think is worth looking into- does anyone have a list of the teams that support crossbreeding?
