HellOw!

If you like to cross-breed, this is the place for you!

On this topic, you can discuss your crossbreeding programs, share your secrets, and advise other players about it.

Compare different crosses with the ones from other players, and brag about your achievements in crossbreeding.

It's not allowed to advertise horse sales!

The forum rules and the game rules also apply.

Have fun sharing!

For low level XC, I'd do stamina to jumping since dressage is so high already.

^ Thank you! And oh my goodness, I am so frustrated right now

I went on a long hiatus and came back and entered over 1000 comps with that boy to only find out that once you win 20, you are removed from all pending comps. default smiley :'(default smiley :k

I just bred a filly ( Wicked Wind ) that is now number one in selle stamina!

I'm planning on breeding her to Million Eyes who is currently the number one in fjord stamina.

The foal should be Fjord dominate (I hope lol) We shall see though....

Nice! Edenm!
Does anyone happen to have a sort of intro or crash course in the basics of crossbreeding and how to benefit from it? I would really appreciate any information you'd have for a beginner.

Most crossbreeding is done for fun or to boost certain breeds skills in one way or another. So you could say that benefits are catered to the breeder. Like for me, I breed Morgan crosses mostly because Morgans are an underrated breed and also I wanted Morabs but Howrse hasn't added them in yet.

I would think though that if you're doing it for skills and/or GP, I'd suggest doing a spreadsheet with the breeds, their skills, and current highest GP. So say you want to take a Morgan and increase its Gallop skill, you can easily see what breeds have Gallop in their top 3 and their GPs. You can use this to predict GP/Skill outcome -->Cross Spreadsheet

Adding on to what moon said, I cross breed for a fun project. It keeps me occupied. I also cross with the goal of getting on the most wins leaderboards. Right now I am focusing on the cross country boards with a horse that is 83rd most wins and another one I am bringing up. I also breed a breed that is not yet on howrse, the Freisian Warmblood.

Does anyone know if crossing a KWPN and a Selle would result in a better skilled horse for xc or show jumping? If that makes sense, I guess I'm asking if crossing the two breeds would give a high skilled horse is both parents have high skills

Aegidienberger - Peruvian Paso x Icelandic Horse

If you haven't tried that one yet.

Looks like it'd be better suited to show jumping if you go by their top 3 skills.

I breed mostly Arab, shagna Arab and their crosses. Followed by quarter horse and thoroughbred and friesiens. I also have some other breeds lipizzans, paints appaloosa etc I mostly do it for fun and try to breed horses with most genetic potential

Hmm, looking at the Google images of the breed, I'd go Icelandic.

update on my previous post.

Million Eyes x Wicked Wind = Rebel Runner

He is 12889GP and fjord dominate! His dad is number 1 in fjord stamina and his mom is number 1 in selle stamina, so I am hoping to get over 4100 in stamina, and possibly beat Million Eyes for the top spot in fjord stamina. He will do great in cutting comps, reining, and WP.

Also just produced this girly, and she's got a decent skill set and a pretty good GP. Any thoughts?
Will the breed percentages ever even out to 33% by breeding twins together down the line with this horse and its twin?

I'm new to cross breeding and this is only my second time breeding more than two breeds together so not sure how it will work out

Unfortunately no. The percentages will stay the same. There was a person that had it down to a science in having 3 breeds about even, but I couldn't tell you who it was it's been so long. If my understanding is correct, it'd be better to breed it with a horse that has higher percentage in Aussie and KWPN, like a 50/50. See how that looks, then breed the resulting foal back to the 3-way. If that makes sense.

Horse A(3-way) x Horse B(50/50) = Horse C
Horse C x Horse A = Horse D

If that helps the thought process. And you'd basically breed Horse (X) back to at least one of its parents until things even out.

Hello, so I recently bought this girl, and I'm trying to BLUP her so I can eventually breed her with a KWPN (or something, like that, I still can't decide, lol). But I can't seem to win any competitions with her. Anyone have any advice?

I would train speed and enter her in low level show jumping, gallop races, and trot races.

No problem, I wish I had kept up with that breeder or at least copied her formulas into my own EC forum (crediting it back to her obviously). It was an interesting and long project from what I remember.
