Powder is at 10096.09. she has 952 stars and I think after being trained she will become even better. I'd like to have some feedback at what u all think of her please. They have the highest GP I have ever seen so I might breed a line of pure GV's with that potential

If she's pure, we can't really give you advice here. This forum is just for Crossbreds.

I saw Fivinyn784 rant and I wanted to know if I was breeding good quality pure GVs. I think I might see if I can sell them for a lot but I only have 3 purebreds and Splash, a GV is a crossbred. I'm not sure what to put him in or that I should try and sell him.

Keep breeding GVs if that's what you desire and enjoy. You're breeding good GP horses and with the popularity of GV crosses there's money to be made.

However this forum is mainly for us to discuss our crossbreeding endeavors and as such we cannot offer a whole lot of insight on purebred breeding as we might not specialize in that particular breed.

This is what I meant when I replied to @Serena. It wasn't meant as a shut down or anything, it's just not allowed here as this forum is just for crossbreds.

Using GV's, especially right now, is a good project to have though since they currently off the best GP boost.

On another note, finally finished ℛ℮ṧυяя℮¢тїøη. Only took me two days Still have one more cross skiller to go then I think I'll jump the bandwagon and try for a Prix runner. That would be three skillers in three weeks I don't know if my checking account can handle that

@Asfridur - I popped out a couple so far. I'd like a Friesian dominant one, but apparently mixed up the sire's breeding, so going to work up another (this time Friesian x Lip).

I'm working on improving the jumping skills of my fjord stock while still keeping the fjord look. What are some good breeds to cross with a fjord so that the resulting offspring have better jumping skills?

Ah yes the 4 way issue with the dominance turning the wrong breed. Been there done that

If you breed the colt and filly you listed you should end up with a Friesian since that's the dam's last listed breed. Might want to breed a tester foal to be sure, but if that works it'd be the quickest fix, and you'd end up with the same genetics.

@Asfridur, I generally avoid backbreeding, whenever possible. Just my own preference. Was planning on keeping them even percentages, but depending on how they train out and comp, I may adjust.

@Legs, that'd probably work too. I'm asking Lip team what their highest GP release would be and when. If at all reasonable, I'll get a Lip mare, put a Friesian cover on her, and use the resulting colt to breed on to the PSH/Lusi mare. The Lip is the most annoying part of the puzzle b/c lower GP and availability. If getting a new mare doesn't work out, then I'll probably just breed my two foals together.

I was just wondering if anyone can give me some information on Cross Breeding? To be honest the only thing I know if the foal will be the breed of the sire, I do not know how skills pass on to the foal ect... But it's something I would potentially like to experiment with. Could anyone give me a bit of a beginners introduction?

For basic 2-way crosses, the skills of a foal are simply an average of the parents’ genetics, with some mostly negligible variation - so if you’d like a rough estimate of what your foal’s skills will be, just look at the GP skill set of the parents, add each skill to each other, and divide by 2.

Four ways (and up) are a bit more complicated and involve some ‘rules’ that even I forget and often mess up after years of crossing. If you’re just starting out then I’d recommend beginning with a 2-way and work your way up. As for what breeds, it all depends on what you want to cross for. I breed crosses for a specific skill set because I like making compers, but it varies from person to person based on what goals they have in mind. If you really have no idea, just throw a couple breeds together and see how they turn out.

Crossing can be kind of daunting if you’ve never done it before, but it’s actually quite easy and really enjoyable once you get a feel for how it works. Hope that helps a bit.

Rule of thumb for an even 4-way cross (25/25/25/25) is that the resulting foal will be the sire's second breed listed on the genetics page, which often times (at least in my experience) has been that horses dam. .

Although, it can happen that the sire takes on the grandsires breed, and still lists that breed second on the genetics page.

After that, it is basically up to which ever breed has more percentage in your cross. Someone years ago managed to breed an almost perfect 3 way (33.3/33.3/33.3) but I believe one breed was actually 33.7 or so. I can't remember who it was and how long ago it was. If you want to develop a line that is going to remain a single dominant breed with the GP boost in other skills with the help of other breeds, I would suggest starting out with 3 2-way crosses of 3 different varieties (ie. Fri/Lusi, Fri/GV, Fri/TB), this way you have extra Fri genetics to keep it your dominant breed.

I would be interested in seeing what this pair throws. Something tells me it may end up Lipizzan lol But I would also breed them a couple of times to see if it changes since the breeds all have an equal percentage.
