What exactly is good and whats not so good?

Please PM me the answer
Roisin
ilovebessie, I have a thread in my EC's forum specifically for those who want to sell their crossbred wonders. If you'd like to post some for sale there, I'd love to have you!

I produced a pair of these this morning and am excited to see how they turn out in the comps. Plus, I think their cross potential is good too, with those huge skills in speed, gallop, and dressage!

They be pretty default smiley ^)

cassie, what's "best" is based upon the results you want. If you want an unusual skill in a given breed (like a super-fast Friesian), you'd cross to improve that skill. If you want allstars or six-skillers, you'd match up breeds that balance one another out.

I crossed Irish Hunter and Fresian, I got a pretty good well rounded Fresian Stallion, will be crossing him with my Throughbred Filly once she grows up to bring up the Speed. But I'm already up with the 21* Fresians with my cross breed.

Now, do crossbreds tend to get higher stars then pures or vice versa? I'm considering crossing but I'm just curious for now. Like I'm sure it depends on the stars of the family and all that jazz, but I am truely curious....

Carrie- It depedns on what horse you decide to cross. Some crosses have better stars than purebreds(Peruvian Pasos)but they are harder to get. if you really want one of the top gp horses you have to know math to know if your going to get that breed you want. Most of the time you have 5+ horses in the horse. I know Pasos are hard becuase my breeding partners and I "run" Determined Pasos and we don't get that many foals that are Paso. It takes forever to get one you like.

sorry I got overboard.default smiley (lol)

Someone has posted in negotiations that they want a horse with ALL breeds in it.. I'm pretty sure that is impossible.. it is, isn't it?
It's not technically, I don't think, but only 5 will show up.

mega, that's going to require a little bit of work, to keep the kids from falling out of the Appy breed.

The best way I can think of is to make more crossbreeds (50/50) that are dominant in the skill you want the kids to have - for example, if you want a trot-ranked horse, breed a pure Appy to a pure Standie, then breed the resultant foal back to your mare. As long as the stud is a pure Appy, and is bred to a mare of another breed, the foal should turn out Appy.

@cryfenril- I wasn't necessarily talking about appy rankings, I just like to see my horses in them =)
But I would like to breed her to an appy dominate cross that has good GP and such.

@chicken-Hmm... maybe.. I'll go look.

i want to do cross breeding, what breeds are good crosses?
By Retired breeder, 14th July 2010 18:43:27
Thanks horselover!

Rainbow- All horses make good crosses. I would start with a breed you train most so you know what your doing.
