Do you think this mare would make a good cross with a Quarter Horse? I'm trying to produce barrel racers. If not, what breed would be good with her? Possibly an Appy, although I don't know much about them. For some reason, I just don't really breed with them.
By Retired breeder, 20th June 2010 17:19:43
sorry skyyie never did anything with barrels so I have no idea
By Retired breeder, 20th June 2010 17:30:31
I've had this six skiller for a while, but I haven't really trained it much. I think I'll throw a CT on him, BLUP him, then eventually bolt him, and breed her.

Well I wanted like a surprise, something good in dressage or stamina.

hOrsElUvEr95, some breeds are harder to get there wins and sometimes comps take forever to run, that may be why he has 11 wins at 6.
By Retired breeder, 20th June 2010 19:32:43
Arabians are easy to blup and are good at dressage and stamina .
Starting out with experience in the breeds BEFORE you cross them is a good thing. Its a advantage that I use all the time. I bred and blupped purebred TBs before I started to cross them, same thing with hanoverians. And I am doing mustangs right now so I know what is easier to blup and help with other things.
By Retired breeder, 20th June 2010 19:33:18
If you want high dressage and stamina. You can do that.
Try crossing arabians and irish hunters .

default smiley ;)
Tabby- you can always do the classic Arab/ih and get dressage and stamina along with great go, stars and skill.

I could, I really dont know what to cross.default smiley (lol)

I trained Irish Hunters,Arabians and Thoroughbred before I started crossing.
You can also start with and Arab/ih and then breed it to a pure horse and then it'll have the dressage and stamina along with a nice gp
