If both parents are 50/50s of different breeds, it should take the sire's 2nd listed. It follows different rules if the parents both have the same breeds.

I currently am working on multiple breeds. But one cross. Lusitano x Friesian. Commonly known in real life as Warlanders. I gave them their own affix “of the HL Warlanders”.

The ones I have are still young and getting trained up. I have two personal colts and two fillies. A fifth I placed in my sale barn tab. All have been pretty good so far in terms of IBS and GP. Once my personal ones get trained up I will start offering covers and breeding more Warlanders.

Oh guys thank you so much help on the breed-logic! I'll be gone for a week but I will definitely try out breeding Cheng Jun and let y'all know how it works out!

What skill set do they end up with??

Adding to my gallopy stock here's my newbie;

Karnival - TB x Paint Horse x PSH

Didn't bother doing my research beforehand and it's evened out the skills a little from my other gallopers therefore not in the runs to win a rosette but good comper nonetheless.

Then a funny lucky thing happened to me. Found a pure Arab mare in the sales with 13974 GP, nice to breed crosses from and only 100 passes. When I bought her realised she was actually in foal to a top pure Arab stallion meaning the foal then had 140022 GP. Team release is only 131998. Then sold the original mare for 150 passes more than I bought her for.... #oops. Gave me a nice Arab mare to breed from though, did the same breeding as my previous mare who won me two rosettes Capsicum to produce this little filly:

Nice skill set but will be lucky if she wins some rosettes.
Anyway. She might be the last cross I do for a little bit. Seeing as I now have an pure Arab mare only 60GP from the top Arab horse....

I really enjoy PSH crosses, especially since the public release horses are now above 13000. If the gp gets high enough, I'd like to cross them into my western crosses instead of tb. Very nice horse, thanks for sharing

I would think it would be a good cross, especially if the breed is friesian and you could find a decent number of breed specific dressage comps.

Couple of technical questions here....

Imagine I have a line of crossbreeds. They are all dominant in a particular breed (lets say Arab, just to have an example), so as I breed through generations they will all stay as Arabs. On the other hand, they all have a top skill which is not typical for the breed (lets say Gallop). They are currently well below top GP for Arabs.

The questions:

1) I know with purebreds the GP gain gets less as you approach the top GP for the breed. Is this the same for crossbreds? Will the GP it works on be for the named breed for the foals or parents? Will it take into account others in the mix?

2) If you stay as one named breed for several generations, will the skill profile stay the same as you start with (eg gallop dominant in my example) or will it gradually change towards your dominant breed (Arab in this example), so you'd lose the high gallop?

Are your crosses 50/50?

It's a hypothetical situation: assume they are 51/49 so they'll stay the same 'breed'!

Would Selle x Akhal-Teke be a good cross?

Could be a good jump/cross country mix. It would probably be better to make the Akhal the sire as that way the foal would be Akhal. Selle's are so good for Jump that mixes tend to struggle in breed only comps.

If they were all the same crosses, say Arab dominant Quarabs, then yes, you would end up with the same skill set. It's the same with Crossbreeds as it is purebreds. With the GP, crossbreeding is nice because you can get high gp jumps for breeds that arent as popular. Your foal's gp ranking would go toward the breed it is listed as, and the higher gp you go the smaller the gain because there arent horses with 4k+ more gp than yours to give you that jump.

Dear Crossbreeding Enthusiasts,

I am looking for some brilliant and creative ideas (in other words I am rather perplexed in the matter). I saw someone had previously bred a horse with over 2000 genetic potential for each skill and thought that would be a fun little side project, and having succeeded in my endeavor, now what? Does anyone else have a similar experiment or experience with such beasties or a vivid imagination? I could start a line of them, you could use them as a 'neutral template' for other breeding endeavors, you could train them to compete (though likely not excel) in all competition types...any other ideas? What do you do with a horse that is quite literally a 'jack of all trades, master of none?'

Go crazy, be creative, have fun, what can you come up with?

@Skylark maybe you could start a line of them to try to get it to be one of the top horses?
