I want to try maybe even crossing it with a Marwari once more just to try and boost Gallop, but that's going to sacrifice a lot of Dressage I think which is what I'm worried about lol.

I too was kinda hoping for more Gallop, which is why I may try crossing this one with a Marwari again (or if I do the bolt gender switch, then that foal) to try and boost Gallop up. I want to at least be able to get rosettes

Problem is I think that may sacrifice a bit of dressage which is what I am afraid of. Maybe I should try TB instead and sacrifice Stamina instead which would be better since Stamina is the last skill considered for Reining.

I was thinking of crossing him with maybe a Marwari but they don't have any 12000 gp coverings rn. That doesn't bother me too mucn, I'm still willing to cross with a Marwari as long as I get a good horse that would get me rosettes. Is there anything better I could cross him with?

Also, if you guys know of any good cross for getting rosettes, please let me know!

If you go back a page or two, a few players have been talking about a very similar cross and you can see what they've been doing.

I've been crossing them with fjord, selle, gypsy, quarter pony, and arabians. the mix boosts the speed, and the resuting horses are great at cutting

High GP GV dominant Selle crosses are good for XC rosettes

Does anyone know of any high GP (at least 12,000GP) crossbred stallions that are 30% or less for each breed with no GV influence? I'm finally above the top Conn GP and would prefer not to go back in GP and my top mare is 34% Conn and 29% GV (High Hopes is the mare I'm talking about)

Hi I was wondering if you know any good breeds to cross with ponies as I am a pony breeder, but I don't know what to cross them with.

Do you breed many breeds or do you focus mostly on one or two ponies?

I cross many breeds

Most pony breeds are low in trot, you could try to bring up that skill. Many are also good in stamina and/or speed, which would be nice compliments to a horse that is good in gallop if you want to do western comps. To increase GP, you'll most likely have to look to horses and not ponies. I just bred the first Connemara (crossbred) over 12,000GP, but there are no other pony breeds that, for purebreds, are over 12,000GP. Connies have the highest GP at just about 11900, and I believe Shetlands are second. If I recall correctly, Shetlands are one of those pony breeds good in trot too, but I haven't bred a Shetland on here in years lol

It has been a long time coming- not too bad for being nearly 5000 GP below the GP race. All odds against us - GP, Skills, Breed, and Gender.

I just cannot believe it. Maybe my goal of top 10 isn't so crazy after all....

Yep, it's quite a bit. Lol. And almost ALL horses have Dressage as one of their top 3. Dressage is the overly done jock skill and Trot is the loner art kid skill.

Marketing question for you all:

I've been having a lot of fun with my drafts, particularly with "cheap breeding" (no items, breed mares young and studs at 6 then castrate, move through generations quickly) what I've been thinking of as "French Drummers" (F1 Percheron/Drum crosses). I really enjoy them and they make great work performers in the Western comps.

My problem is I breed more per generation than I need for breeding and selling the genetic rejects is getting problematic. No one wants them. I've tried doing a "value added" program where I raise them to 2.5 years so they are at least attractive as a breedable draft of a respectable GP, but still nothing. It's gotten to the point where I just sell them as newborns; they aren't worth the added effort of raising to breeding age.

I get that there is a bias against non-purebreds, but do you guys have any advice?

I never have any luck with sales unless it's a very old horse that hasn't performed in comps, so I'm not partial to him/her, and willing to sell for cash for EC projects rather than wait for a chance to get passes. I keep a nursery farm for foals that I'm not ready to work. It's very full of 2nd gen foals right now as my first all breeds group is just getting to be over 25 years old. Stallions that I don't want to breed get gelded and put to work.

If they perform then you can use them as cash flow and eventually passes. You can also Safe Haven nonperformers if you don't want to wait for passes. I keep a small group earmarked for promo objectives that involve Safe Havening horses so that I don't have to miss the obj, give up a horse I like, or buy a horse from market just for obj. You can sell the covers you don't want first. Drafts are so short on covers that I don't think a lot of people are that picky about that.

If you have the resources, people might be more interested if the GP is raised, but because they are crossbred that might not necessarily help. I have the same problem with mine, nobody wants them even though they are only a few hundred GP points from top GP. Maybe try selling after foal games are done so they at least have more skills?

Something I usually do is fund my favorite crossbreeding projects by selling "popular breeds", such as Mustangs. It might be worth having the odd 1 or 2 side projects so they sell and allow you to continue with the project you are most passionate about

Can anyone let me know which breeds cross well with mustangs? Want to start mixing them but not sure what might be good. Would Mustang x Appaloosa work well?
