How should I pick breeds to cross with Standardbreds?

Depends on what you want to do.

Hi everyone.

So I posted a while ago, asking for advice on crossbreeding and I have finally bred my very first foal. Here he is: https://www.howrse.com/elevage/fiche/?id=52687270

My next question would be - is there a way to know what breed any crossbred foal will be?

Thank you kindly, all input is appreciated.

Well, popped a message over to some old friends to see if they can help me out as I think I figured out where I'm going with my cross default smiley :)

Perhaps I shall resume my Paint/Selle crosses. They were very easy and I believe did well in rankings too. I shall call them Pelle. Now, to find a Selle mare to breed from.

I'm aiming for good western pleasure horses, Standardbreds are my basis breed, I've done some research and I think a Standardbred Friesian cross would be a good way to go. Is this a good cross? Or are there other breeds that work better with Standardbreds for this?
I had an appy mare that did well in pleasure.

When you cross breeds does it matter which breed is the mare or stallion for the transference of abilities? I'm thinking of crossing Friesians and Standardbreds, not sure which way I should cross them though default smiley :s
50/50 breeds will always take the breed of the sire

Does anyone have any good crosses for dressage comps?
I kind of want to try breeding dressage horses but can't figure out what type of cross to do it with

Perhaps try a Lusitiano dominant Nokota cross. Those seem to be the top Dressage breeds.

In terms of abilities, it doesn't matter which parent is which breed as the foal's genetics are an average of the parents'.

How about this little guy?

I really like his skill set - I think for BLUPping him he could win a lot of gallop comps - if I'm right. However, his IBS are rather low default smiley (o)

Doesn't mean he can't be a good skiller, though, if that came over incorrectly. default smiley :$

Quick question. I bought this mare lately:飞飞 Feifei and now she's been hanging around in my barn for a few days I decided to wait a bit before killing her off.

Any of you who wants a foal from her? default smiley ^)

Back Again...

Kind of prophetic, since I haven't posted here in ages. But that's because as I said previously, I have like 30-40 or so crosses just collecting dust because I'm done with them, but they can still be bred, so all I can do is wait for customs being wanted.

Not sure what I'll breed the Crio mare to next, but I love surprises.

Now, it's waffle time...

I lucked out on the cover, as I run a Vanner team and a team member had picked him up to boost our own GP.

I think I need more waffles...but not yet. default smiley xd piggy cage to clean.
I'm also working on a QH mare, somewhere in the 4000s range on GP, and a Selle somewhere in the 8000 range I think. Other then that, I'm not crossing much because I hate having so many dust collectors.

Apparently I've lost my touch with BLUPing Thoroughbreds, but once she's done and I breed what I need, let me know if anyone wants a foal from her.
上海妹, I would totally not mind a foal from her! I don't have any good Mustangs, sadly. Or good blupped stallions either. default smiley :(

What teams work with crossbreeding? Don't mind if the foal is gelded.

What do you guys think of him?

I'm trying to breed a nice line of crossed dressage horses
I'm not looking to win any rosettes or anything like that, but just ones that'll do decent enough

Do you think I should add one more breeding of Lusitano to them, or leave them 75%/25%?
