I know that if you breed two purebred horses together of different breeds you'll get the breed of the father. What if you breed two crossbred horses together, each being 50% breed X and 50% breed Y. They are both of breed X themselves. Will the foal always be of breed X as well or will it be 50/50 chance of either breed?

Here's a better explanation using those breeds (first being the father, second being the mother). All caps is the dominant breed.

FRIESIAN/Arab x FRIESIAN/Arab - will produce Arabian foals
FRIESIAN/Arab x Friesian/ARAB - will produce Arabian foals
ARAB/Friesian x Arab/FRIESIAN - will produce Friesian foals
ARAB/Friesian x ARAB/Friesian - will produce Friesian foals

Personally I always go classical but she looks like she could be good at some lower level XC comps because her skills are low she'd stay in Rookie comps (while blupping) if you keep her any one skill below 950.

Ingenuity does offer covers but not above sales release. Their current release is 6270.

Hmm, just a quick experiment with my rather shiny Gypsy mare and the best stud on the public market resulted in Dynamic Duo.

I might have a fancy list of breed skills and competition requirements in my forum, but I can't decide on the competition he would best suit, and whether the skill range is suitable or whether he'd be consistently 4th and 5th, just like the mare's first foal.

I would suggest Reining may be the best way to go.
If you look in my forum, I have a list of the competition requirements.
As she has low Gallop, but higher Stamina and Dressage, you can beat the system by being eligible for low-skill comps, but having the secondary and tertiary skills boosting the average.

You can switch between Disciplines until the age of 5, so try Reining and if that doesn't suit, enter her in about 3 or 4 of each competition and you will soon see what her best average results are. Enter more if possible, but make sure you know definitely before the age of 5!

I know my above suggestion was already for Reining, but I also think the same for your little guy. If you're disliking the Cutting project, I suggest quitting while you're ahead so to speak.
I know once I go downhill on a project there's no recovering!

Or, try Showjumping to really mix it up. Either of those I think maybe would suit.

I've never done the whole cross breeding thing and was wondering where a good place to start would be. Would it be smart of me to take my highest GP purebred and breed it with the highest GP purebred in the sales a few times, then just begin with pair breeding, or what?

It completely depends on what your goals are, if you want a highly skilled cross horse then yes, maybe that would be a good way to start however some people crossbreed in order to improve/decrease a certain skill of the breed, for instance a Gypsy x KWPN will heavily increase the KWPN's Stamina and may mean it excels in that in competition. It really depends on what you're after
