I've been crossbreeding for a while and I just came across a new one for me... I bred a mare using a Hera's Pack, 50x50 Barb & Teke. It was going to be two fillies, but with the VIP perk I was able to choose one colt and one filly. I was half way through blupping the colt and realized he had the wrong breed order... I checked the filly, and she was Teke first then Barb, which is what I needed. But the colt was somehow the opposite. WTH! Has this happened to anyone else? I swear I've used Hera's on crosses before and have not had this happen. Now I need to go back and look at some of my other crosses...

Filly, now bolted to a colt...

Colt half-blupped (that I have no use for if anyone else could use him.

I have never had that happen that I know of, and I love doing twins. That's really odd!

Has anyone found a breed that they 'click' with?
I find I can train and BLUP any Gpysy Vanner with far more dedication and success than any of the other breeds, even those Thoroughbreds I bred fervently for a time.

So I'm looking for my next 'forever' breed to pair with my current GV beauties.
I have that entire breed-skill list in my forum, and yet nothing comes to mind as a project.

Ideas anyone? I'd love to hear your story.

Arabians had always been a favorite for me. When I had been strictly "purebred" they were the breed I always went back to. Even had a Team for them that took up 3rd in GP.

Now, with Crossbreeding, I'm partial to my Appaloosa dominant Selle crosses. Focus more on them than I do my Paint dominant. Already 3rd gen. in and plan on getting a fourth and maybe a fifth gen. this weekend.

What competitions do you put them in? What's the best success you've had with them?
Or, are you more partial to their trainability, rather than as a performance horse?

I breed my Vanners because they're easy... easy to train, and they pay for themselves. They always win more earnings than they cost to breed and raise (bar the BMIs, but I factor those as bonuses from previous horse sales) so their investment was worth it.

My favorite would have to be Marwari. Crossed with an apply and made appy Dom, they rock gallop trot and a bit of show jump. Training was easy, however I didn't get my wins until fully trained. I don't think it was until about 11.5ish years that I got them all.

I'm partial to anything crossed with a Selle. My Crio/Selles (One of my mares has definitely paid me back from breeding her) are actually one of my favorites too. I'm currently breeding Vanners because those are what I've bought recently.

I have a Vanner colt ready to blup (I'm lazy, been on vacation to see my family, and still have finals to take default smiley :() but I'm not sure what to breed him to. He's a 7600 gp colt. Would an Arab make a good cross with him?

I wonder if it has something to do with switching the gender before they're fully born, using the Hera Pack VIP perk. I'm going to test it on the 4-way cross I produce from them. I know I've done it on past crosses. I need to go back through my horses and see if there's any variation in breed order on twins.

The Appy/Selle do really well anything Speed. So Trot and Gallop with a bit of SJ thrown in for skill gain. I think I like them because they are so easy to train. I can usually have my 20 wins by 5yrs and then it's just a matter of finishing off training and bolding which I can have done by 8yrs. Then just wait for 10 yrs. Beaching in Jump usually puts them around the top of the Appy Jump charts too. In fact, my most recent blup, Epitaph, will make #2 in Appaloosa Jump at the time of the update.

Yup, it was the Hera Pack. Just birthed the 4-way twins and they were both going to be fillies, so I had the second one switched to a colt as I was picking the color and the breed order is totally different.

F Barb 4-Way
Akhal-Teke 25.0 %
Barb 25.0 %
Arabian Horse 25.0 %
Gypsy Vanner 25.0 %

M Barb 4-way

Gypsy Vanner 25.0 %
Arabian Horse 25.0 %
Akhal-Teke 25.0 %

I think KWPN crosses would be a big thing for me. I have Crio/KWPN, Mustang/KWPN, and Walker/KWPN that all make easy BLUPs and rankers. In fact, I will typically comp my Crio/KWPNs and Mustang/KWPNs (if Crio or Mustang dominant) after they are BLUPed, as even just the BLUPs rock breed only XC and SJ. I also LOVE my stamina KWPNs.

The crosses I breed vary all the time because I like to change it up. I do quite like Gypsy crosses with high speed genetics though. I bred two of them on accident as it was just for fun and I wasn't concerned with breed dominance and they killed in classical speed comps because the purebred speed genetic is so low.

If it is half TB, it will show 50% Arabian and 50%Thoroughbred in the Genetics tab, but on the Characteristics tab, it lists the dominant breed.

They will not age if they were not put to bed. (Unless you use aging points.)

Oh, he looks amazing, HB!
There, I bolded top 3 skills, beached and got his wins. I'll let his new owner decide if they want to finish training or just leave it for lower comps
