Does anyone here do Appendix horses? (Thoroughbred/QuarterHorse) I just started doing them, and i've been really happy so far. I'm still training my crossbreds, but i like them a lot. I was just wondering if there were others out there!
By Retired breeder, 26th June 2010 23:13:08
Hm.. I have 26*, but I don't want to sell them even if 3 passes.. tempting, but oh well.

IndianSummerStables- I used to, but I have stopped to pick up on Tb/Paints. I've still got a few mares left over, one that I am training to try to sell her for pass (took a pass to make her). I've also got a 20* stud in training, and he will be offering coverings relatively soon if you are interested (and one 19* offering now).
By Retired breeder, 27th June 2010 00:00:24
Hey guys, H.I.M is offering coverings again if interested. The better the mare the lower the price (100BLUP and it's 500e). PM me.

Hey, you know how some pure breeders have been using this complicated use of cross breeding to make very high starred "pure crosses"? After much crossing they eventually breed back to "pure" and the end result is a "pure" horse with like 50GP points higher than the real pures. What is y'alls opinion on it? I at first thought that it was very ingenious, whoever thought of it, but I'm also thinking that it is abusing the crossbreeding and the pure crosses that you get at the end aren't like the true pures at all (genetic skills are altered aren't they?).. it kind of rips off the pure breeders who really work hard with their pure breeds too. So I'm amazed, but then again I disapprove. default smiley (lol) I know I will somewhat use this with Wild Cat to make a Tb/Paint cross with more jumping skills (breed to a jump horse, then breed back to Tb/Paint), but we won't use it to jump GP for a breed.

I did post that in my EC forum rose, default smiley (lol) but I didn't call it that. Besides, if I remember correctly, there weren't any more views or comments than there used to be so i don't know...

Did you? lol, well I didn't know. I brought it here to discuss anyways.
I am at a bit of an impasse here. Got a TON of high-GP allstars and double-stars, but am running out of time, passes, and patience. I am back up to almost 200 horses, most of which are foals/Gamed foals/training youngsters, and I haven't the time or energy required to work them all.

My question to the crossbreeding community is this - would it be better for me to just toss them all into the auctions and hope for a quick sale, or to hold my ground and keep trying to get a good price for them?

I have a "core" of BLUPped adults and a handful of foals I'd like to keep, but the rest are just too numerous for me to even THINK about. It's depressing, because I put a tremendous amount of effort and time (and passes!) into breeding them, but I have to sleep sometime, and I am starting to get fussed at for buying passes.

I need to trim back to the most useful of my crosses and let the rest go, no matter how good they are - but I don't know how quickly the numbers are going to increase again, and I am torn between ditching them now and taking a severe loss, or waiting too long and having them become obsolete.

What would you guys do in my situation?

Crfenril I would sell some and then blup the rest one after another
Mingy, I have been trying to do that, but the crosses are progressing at such a rapid rate that doing so without spending multiple passes on each one (don't even wanna *think* about how much that would cost!) means many would wait for weeks, if not months, to be trained, by which time they'll be outdated.

I would like a breeding partner for TB/Hanos, I use primarily Excelsis Deo bloodlines, but also use Dunamis Iluminai. I need someone with good Hanos or atleast some info on the best bloodline combinations for the above breeds. Thank You, and just PM me if you'd like to start business together!default smiley ;)
I thought I would try a little crossbreeding cause I was bored with just breeding my Friesian horses. Plus I wanted a little more speed in my lines. So I crossed a TB with a Friesian then found some other horses like Irish hunters and Hanoverian to breed to. I did i for the fun of it and have sold some in the public sales area. I thought it was a lot of fun. I have a stallion right now that is a cross of 4 breeds again just as a whim but I like him and his stats are nice. I do have an affix for my crossbreeds but not sure If I should post it cause I don't want people to think I'm advertising here. If interested in know what it is send me an email. But I will continue to dab in crossbreeding and having fun breeding my pure lines. But generally I breed with Irish hunters, Thoroughbred, Hanoverians, Friesians and arabs.

Its a lot of fun to see the different combinations of stats and stars though I have been trying for high stars I think they sell better so normally have 16* or better. Its just been a blast and can't want to see my next batch of foals. they are sooooo cute looking. default smiley :d

Have any of you peeps got a busy crossbreds for sale thread in your ec forums. Mines a total fail and I'm wanting to sell a few. We so need a crossbreds for sale/buy thread in the negotiation forums.
By Retired breeder, 27th June 2010 12:53:23
foxxxyblonde, I have a QP crossbreed if your interested.
By Retired breeder, 27th June 2010 12:58:03
I'm not interested in buying, I just want a decent ec forum where I can sell a few of my crossbreds for the price they are worth instead of selling them at a total loss.
By Retired breeder, 27th June 2010 13:01:41
Hmm....sorry. You can't advertise in my EC forum.
