i'm working on Mustangs that will be great at Show jumping. any tips for training a Austrailian pony/ Irish Hunter horse?(thats what tthe foal will be)

wow i just had the strangest luck. i went into our kichen and smelt brownies baking and desicied that if the foal my mare was going to have was a dark color it would be named Baking Brownies. i was also hoping it would be a girl. My mare foaled and the foal was:

Okay, I'm thinking about mixing a fjord in with my dressage/barrel horses, cause I noticed that they have a good amount of stars in speed, but I don't want the GP to go down to lower than 700 D:

hmm i would wait for the breed to develop. or breed a dressage/barrel horse to a fjord then breed the foal in to the horses. i'm not sure if it will work but it might

True, I could just wait til the GP goes up, and possibly until someone mixes frizz into it.

I bred a fjord to a 795 GP mare and the result was a 7* foal. The GP won't reach over 700 even in the top crossed fjords for a while yet.

I don't think I would be looking for a pure one just yet [I sure don't have the patience for it]
But if it is crossed, I will need over 700GP, if you get that, could you PM me or something?

I just produced a 25* 789.98 cross with really good over all skills, im very proud of it but I didnt use tears so Im going to pop it in the sales and see if I can do even better

What are everyone's thoughts on outcrossing? That is, crossbreeding horses, and then breeding them back to a pure horse until they show up as "pure" again?

I ask because this happened, very very recently, to my breeding group. I won't name names, but you can figure it out for yourselves what breed I'm the elite of.

The skills are wrong, and it isn't truly a "pure" horse, even though it shows up as such. How will this affect the skills of the later horses? Will it eventually, like all crossbreds, start gaining less GP as time goes on?

I was wondering the same Mazerath! I am currently breeding Brumby crosses because I wanted their Dressage GP to go up. But now I see that the elite purebred horses have a pretty good dressage GP, and now dressage is better than trot and that hasn't been like that before. They were crossbreeding them and now they show up as purebreds again...

I noticed the same with Brumbies, blueberry, and I did some digging in the elite's line of ponies. They jump GPs suddenly at several points, and you're right about the dressage. It used to be their worst skill and now it is their best. Not pointing any fingers, but it's just my observation...

Perhaps. But isn't there some built-in bug? Like fractions of a skills would end up with no gain in certain areas.

There was some discussion in the GP Talk thread quite awhile ago about breeding crosses back to pure....apparently the skills will eventually revert to the "true" skills of the horse. I would have to go back and reread the thread but the waffle is pretty thick and I don't have the time.....

But if you breed to horses of the same breed lineage, the skill will remain top without going to other purebred studs who have jump as their lowest.

Ok, so I just saw one of these crossbred purebred Brumbys that had 17 stars. Less than a month ago they were still at 7 stars and no crossbreeding with dressage as the worst skill. I know that the GP race is going pretty fast, but 10 stars and a switch from dressage to trot as the worst skill in less than a month seems a bit strange to me...

I recently made a cross between IH and Standie, presenting as Standie. Blupped her and covered 4 times. Newfie, Shetland, Fjord and Canadian.

With Newfie, Shetland and Canadian I wanted to create a trotter foal. With Fjord I wanted to get better GP and dressage.

I also have an adult mare, trotter Newfie, crossbred with Standie. She's 650+ GP and the newborn foals are 540+ for the Fjord and the rest over 700.

If someone else is working on creating trotters out of those breeds (and crossbreeding Fjords), you are welcome to drop me a line and a friend request. I haven't been much online lately, apart from the past few days. And will have an offline period also in the future. So my breeding isn't really that active, and these are mainly just skilling projects / competition horses.

diome I'v tried crossing frisians and fjords yesterday. But I used my frisian found mare so the turnout isn't that great
