I've lived with cows my whole life. We name them bet never go do anything with them (accept our 4h projects) they are amazingly dumb most if the time. Trust me, once you have to chase the same calf back into the fence 4 times in the same day, you won't care. And this is my first year doing quite feeder calf for 4h, I love my calf but now that yes older and not cute anymore, I won't really care getting rid of him. Plus I get money! My family is not rich so we butcher our bulls and sell some of the meat. Plus sometimes we joke that our cow's ghosts roam arounddefault smiley (lol)

So, for some people it's hard, but it's not hard for me. I've watched one of ours get butchered. We thought it was fun.

So anywaydefault smiley (8) I'm working on maple curiosities episode two!! It will hopefully come out soon!

I know right!
The only time I cried over selling cattle is my first year 4-h steer and my steer from a long time ago.
I love Buddy (last years bottle baby) but I got almost $2000. You can make a good amount of money raising cattle right.default smiley (y)

Ok so on my Schleich todo list:
fix the plastic saddle's girth
Trace and make another of that saddle, but pleather.
Assemble, decorate, and attach the new stall doors
Cut and attach the ropes for the tie stalls
Put in the toothpicks

If you haven't guessed, I'm upgrading my barn! Redoing the bars and doors, and putting ropes across the little stalls instead of doors, so it just works better. I REALLY hope I can get a YouTube for my birthday! I found out a way to make super cute latches (the kind a horse could totally undo, but still functional for Schleich!) and matching hinges!
By Retired breeder, 30th October 2015 15:54:37
Awesome Jo! Instead of upgrading my barns I'm customizing horsesdefault smiley (8)
By Retired breeder, 30th October 2015 16:16:25
I would be, but I've run out of customizables default smiley (lol)I also need to build a hot walker and fence with our new bamboo skewers! Yay! Right now, the body is drying from its first coat of paint. I need a YouTube default smiley (lol) grr... But I still have most of a week and a very long swim meet to get through...

I've tried to make customizing videos, but it doesn't work because I have a familydefault smiley :@
By Retired breeder, 30th October 2015 20:04:44
I am getting some new paints and some matte finish today *finally*. I would make customising videos but I'm really bad at it, and I threw out the stand for my iPad because I didn't know what it was for default smiley (lol)

default smiley (lol)default smiley (lol)default smiley (lol) yes! I just be sitting there making a movie, a sister comes home, slams the door, and starts blabbing. Like, excuse me?! default smiley (lol) That's why I'd film when my dad isn't home, nobody is coming home soon, and everybody is tucked safely away in their bedrooms on their electronic devices.

Yes show us
It was hard enough saying good bye to my steer I had for school "Ices Coffee" as we called him. Cause we took him to the royal show and part of it was a carcus class. I still don't get why people get an animal as a baby, bottle feed it then sell it. If you can't look after an animal you shouldn't have for it in the first place unless of course you family situation changes.

Someone offered me over $300 for a orphan lamb but I would never sell them because the other person could kill it. Give it life and then slaughter it I think not
Sorry for the rant guys. That's just alot of my opinion rolled into one post

It's not that we can't look after them. It's just the way the cattle business goes. Breed, raise, sell, Repeat. Living with it your whole life you get used to.

I havent looked at my Schleich in a while due to my new horse, but I hopefully will see them soon.
My Western bridle's throatlash snapped and I couldn't fix it, so I just cut it off. It actually looks fine now. XD
