Wow! Here we are sizzling in 102 degrees!
By Retired breeder, 22nd June 2015 18:05:54
Aww! Poor pengy, lucky J! I actually like it when it storms/rains once in a while!

I found a tutorials list on shoestringstables. It's awesome! You can make shark teeth for Arab halters from sequins, I learned how to slice leather (but sadly I wasn't paying attention, and packed Xacto yesterday! ;(
Ugh, the bottom of our sand ring floods every time it rains. It's awful - no matter how much we level it, it still turns into a giant puddle so we can't do proper courses -_-

Joey also hates the puddle, he puts his head up like a showjumper going to a metre fence to avoid the splashing default smiley xd

Anyways, what's the best model to start a collection off with?

Oh I also learned how to make realistic English stirrups (they're like half done). And how to make your own leather lace. Sadly my leather is actually pleather and can't really be cut into thin strips very easily...

The crafts I have waiting to be finished:

SM filly's blanket
Conch's blanket
Conch's western saddle and pad and bridle
SM English stirrup pair
Schleich English stirrup pair
Safari Arab halter

I think that's it default smiley xd

I suggest the Hanoverian stallion. He's my absolute favorite.
By Retired breeder, 22nd June 2015 19:35:42
I would personally go with the most popular horse, it used to be either the paint stallion or the palomino TWH stallion, I'm thinking at one point it was the Lippizan (not the one with dark hair) because everybody seems to have one, I don't know but maybe it was the Andalusian stallion too. Or just find your favorite! Try amazon, search Schleich horse, and look at them all.

For schleich, on amazon they have family sets. They have a camerague one that is really cool.
Thanks guys will do! default smiley :)

Oh yay pengy I can see your avatar now! If i had one like that, it'd be the Icelandic mare default smiley :)
By Retired breeder, 22nd June 2015 20:55:10
default smiley (lol) So I was going to post about how cut sequins make amazing corner plates for western saddles, and then they halfway peeled off. Really weird. Maybe they're just cheap...
By Retired breeder, 22nd June 2015 20:55:29
Oh cool penny!!!

Do you not have schleich yet?

Haha! Bad luck! *halfway through your tutorial and explaining how well they work* Plop They fall off!
By Retired breeder, 22nd June 2015 21:29:19
Ugh. Why do I have to live half a world away from everyone? Sorry I was getting some sleep. Today I'm finally getting back home so I can finish my customs default smiley :ddefault smiley (lol)

I used to have 3 bead organizers. I now have 2. I bet you can guess what the last one is now being used for...

Tack making hardware default smiley xd
Jump rings, clasps, chains, tiny beads, miscellaneous things (I found a pointless red plastic bit from a really lame and cheap "bead" set a while back. Thinking it'll be a perfect hot walker lever...)
By Retired breeder, 22nd June 2015 22:14:38
Alright so I made some embroidery floss-style spools from paperboard, and I'll put the long prices of chain on them. The tiny bits will be in the compartment next door to the big chains.
By Retired breeder, 22nd June 2015 22:17:08
Oh yeah! I made these little stud/nailhead things! I took some old slightly rusted pins (the ?flathead? kind. I don't know if that's what they're called but they DON'T have colored balls on the tops). Then I hacked off the tiny top parts and kept them. Now I have little studs for saddles and bridles, stablemate or Schleich! The best thing is that I would've thrown all the pins away anyways!

Awesome! I saw on shoestring stables their saddles....default smiley :o Did anybody know that there is a toy convention and schleich has their own boot of all new not out yet things in new York???
By Retired breeder, 23rd June 2015 01:15:19
OMG when?! I wanna go!!!
By Retired breeder, 23rd June 2015 01:16:36
Here's my tack to-do list for tomorrow:
Finish stirrups
Fishing-line western bridle
Paint the ugly gray pleather fuzzes on Conch's saddle to black to match
By Retired breeder, 23rd June 2015 01:22:42
I think it was in may, but they had products that looked so cool! I really want the 2015 advent calendar!
By Retired breeder, 23rd June 2015 02:02:03
Darnit! That's awesome!!

I made a ribbon and leather lace organizer out of the peach basket! However I plan to get lots more ribbon and lace, so I might just use the basket for hot glue sticks, and get another ribbon.

I also finished putting all my hardware into the organizer. I need more default smiley xd
