With regards to the dowels.....could they be cut down in scale to use as posts (one on each side) to secure the horse for outside wash racks?

More customs!

By Retired breeder, 11th June 2015 23:05:39
Hmm I suppose they could... default smiley :)

That last one looks an awful lot like a Safari, is it?
By Retired breeder, 11th June 2015 23:09:38
I worked painstakingly on a saddle pattern for like an hour or something. It's fairly complicated. In total I think I have 9 leather pieces, 5 leather lace pieces, 5 wire pieces, and 4 jump rings. (The girth isn't going to be attached to the saddle therefore it needs two buckles, and I like double ring buckles...) Now I have too glue it together, and hope the power doesn't go out while I do. It's thundering and I've seen the power flash like 3 times in the past 5 minutes...

Aww I forgot the stirrup leather keepers! Make that 7 leather lace! Gotta go cut those!

Make that 5 or 6 power flashes too default smiley :s maybe I'll wait a bit...

Well now I have all the patterns for the leather pieces of an English saddle! Yay!
That horse definitely looks like a Safari, and I'm pretty sure it is.

I love the first one!

Cool! I should make a pattern! Either a safari or a reshaped schleich.
By Retired breeder, 12th June 2015 00:20:26
No, I think it's a safari, because the muscle lines are harsher, I guess, and the end of the tail is nearly flat. Other safari horses have both of those things, but I haven't seen a Schleich with either.
By Retired breeder, 12th June 2015 00:59:02
True, ya. I have seen some poeple tae parts from schleich horses and put them together to make a new model!
By Retired breeder, 12th June 2015 01:34:35
Yeah. Shoestringstables did that. She's amazing! default smiley :o Or they actually resculpt their manes or tails, or forelocks too. I'd like to try that, and also try bending limbs and heads and tail, and maybe eventually totally resculpting- legs, necks, etc.

Oh yeah, my saddle!

I finished it! It's cute but I made a few mistakes...
I forgot to add the stirrup bar, so they're not adjustable now.
I forgot to put the piece of wire to shape the knee roll inside, so now it's beneath the flap, visible when buckling the girth...
I made the girth way too short for the size of horse the saddle was made on. (I can make another though...)

Otherwise, I'm quite proud of it! Right now it's just decor... It might be PSQ if there was a rider sitting on top though! (To hide the lack of stirrup leathers default smiley xd)
I ordered the curly foal and the hanoverian stallion from a friend from Instagram and I'm sending her the appy stallion and the Trahkner foal as a trade! New models here I come!

My customs aren't half bad but like they're not as good as the ones in the pics...
By Retired breeder, 12th June 2015 13:47:31
Same! Actually I could do nearly as good as the second one though, and the last would be fairly easy...
By Retired breeder, 12th June 2015 14:24:26
J, why would you want to give away those models?
By Retired breeder, 12th June 2015 14:27:42
Maybe she had doubles, or liked the others more.
I would buy the models for her. But the trade is cancelled since her dad won't let her unless she has doubles of the models.

By Retired breeder, 12th June 2015 18:59:32
I like horses with sour expressions... They're realistic...lol

default smiley (lol)default smiley (lol)default smiley (lol).

It just asked me not to overuse smileys. Those are signs, not smileys! default smiley (lol)

Ok seriously again? No such thing as that!

Have you guys considered using nail art studs? I found a 300 pack of little round ones (perfect!) for less than $2. I also found a 1000 pack for $2... So they're perfect and cheap! Most standard ones are less than $3, and I found like a 5 or 10 pack of wheels for $8. The multi shape packs would be perfect for decorating western saddles, and the round studs would be perfect for English saddle skirts, or embellishing a bridle!
