I've recently developed a love for Breyer and CollectA horses, to go along with my love for Schleichdefault smiley :) They all have nice qualities!

I have a ton of Schleich and a large barn setup. I tend to buy the sporthorsey looking models so I'm happy with alot of the new models! I don't usually keep the breed and or gender that they come with in the box. I like to decide for myself what breed they look like to make it more realistic for my barn. Some of the warmbloods I keep the same but alot of the others are changed. I change the genders of all the stallions to geldings unless my barn is standing one at stud or one of my competition horses is kept as a stallion. Almost all the other ones are geldings in my imagination. After all, what barn has stalls full of stallions for a lesson program? Anyway, just my quirky way of using Schleich, but I love them default smiley :d

That's a fun little take on itdefault smiley :) My own knowledge of real horses (breed conformation and such) is very limited, or more like non existent, so i just let them tell me what breed it is ha ha. I have no space for a barn either, so mine are on a shelf...and i have a problem...i literally just filled the shelf so now i have no more room for additional Schleich horses, let alone my new CollectA and Breyer collections! But i've no plans of letting that stop me!default smiley ;)

I have like ten schleich horses.... when I was younger, every time I went to Lancaster PA i'd get one for some reason
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Ok, yeah, I literally got one yesterday in Lancaster default smiley xd it's a running dun horse of some unknown breed. Named it Sphinx loll.
so yeah, I have an... interesting collection, I guess? Some great coat colors & poses. I named all of them a long time ago 'cause of some trash writing I was doing at the time.

I can't see the pic for some reason on my tablet, but I think the quarter horse you're talking about came out this year, 2018. If I was on my computer I'd look it up. Anyway, if the year on the tummy is 17, it should be the quarter horse stallion which I love... either way, congrats!default smiley :)

I don't collect a lot of model horses, but I do have about 10 or 11 Schleichs. I spend most of my money on riding lessons or a new pair of riding pants default smiley xd so I don't have a lot of spare money for model horses, but I still think they are pretty cool. (Although the thing that confuses me is why some people would want to spend so much money on model horses when they could spend that money on a riding lesson)default smiley (lol) default smiley (y)

I don't mean that in a mean way, I respect everyone's opinions, but that is just my opinion.default smiley :)

I don't know of any riding stables near me. And i'll be honest...all my life, since i was a little girl, i've wanted horses, and to live on a farm. Unfortunately i never got any or got to be around them. Now that i'm grown (and feeling a bit old lol) I am a little afraid of being around them because i don't know how to read them well or even talk to them, or how they like to be petted, so i am nervous i will make a wrong move or step, and i don't want to be bitten, stepped on, or kicked. After all, they are big animals as we all know. What doesn't help matters is that all of that uncertainty makes me even more anxious (i struggle with anxiety/tension, particularly in unfamiliar situations) and i assume the animal can register that and may be more prone to "act out" or not accept me. It may sound stupid, but although i love to be near them (the closest i get is when i see them in their stalls around rodeo time at the county fair), i am also nervous to be. And still, i am never able to be around them anyway, so the next best thing is to collect. In a way, it is better than lessons anyway, financially speaking, because its not a bill come due that you have to pay. You buy what you can, when you can. If you don't have the money, you don't have to pay.

Someday, i hope to become comfortable and familiar with real horses. At least one. Until then, i will collect every model i can!default smiley (l)

I personally kinda outgrew riding. A few rather bad experiences happened that turned me away from it.
Horses for me are more art than sports. I prefer to see them from the same level rather than from on top, between those two ears.
But then again, that is just my preference and I am not knocking anyone who liked to ride.

Guess who just ordered herself the first 2019 models. I am soon proud owner of the two new foals, the unicorn colt and the texas longhorn calf.
Nice, today I got out of my advents calendar a foal

I absolutely love how the horses and accessories have advanced over the years, but in my opinion, nothing will beat the early 2000's models! default smiley (l)
I no longer play with them like I used to and am selling a few pieces from my collection to save up for university. However, seeing how a lot of the accessories are being quite modernised, I think I'll definitely be keeping some of the classics for my children one day!!
Sigh...still haven't seen any announcement on who is to retire this coming year.

But congrats on ordering the new ones!default smiley :)

I have about 7 schleich horses, most of them are from Bayala, but there is no doubt I have hundreds of dragon, dinosaur and wild animal (not including horses) schleich! Some of them are a little old but I'm proud of all of them!
