Anyone know where I can get grosgrain? (It's the material most people use for model horse bridles)
By Retired breeder, 31st January 2015 15:48:28
I'm lucky that the toy store I go to to get schleich gets new models all the time, but no one really goes to it, so they have a few retired mint condition models. I also have an Aunt who lives in Stuttgart (Germany) and there's a large toy store there, so whenever we visit her, I buy a ton of models
If I go to our toy store it can be up to 9 bucks per horse! If I go to farm and fleet it's 6 bucks per horse. Even the little shettys!

Mine price cheaper than that, $5 for the average sized ones, $8 for the drafts/adult cows, and like $2-3 for the little ones, like the puppies and the mini shetties.
Our stores go by the coloured tabs on the legs. Regular horses including drafts are 6 dollars

So do ours! The schleich company doesn't regulate how much each color is worth, so each store can do their own pricing.

Wow the regular horses at my store are 8$!!
By Retired breeder, 31st January 2015 16:14:26
Yeah, the store I go to prices cheaper

Same here fizz2! Um, I just use pleather, I got it at hobby lobby, or micheals for like 5 bucks a bag.
By Retired breeder, 31st January 2015 16:20:48
Ok thank you. I was having trouble finding grosgrain that wasn't too wide
By Retired breeder, 31st January 2015 16:27:57
Ya, Pleather is thick, but it is really nice for saddles!
By Retired breeder, 31st January 2015 16:29:13
Ok, thanks! I'll definitely try to get some

Ya, hot glue comes off of it really easily though, so you have to glue the suede side, otherwise it wont stick.

BuckThornStables is no longer together! I watched some of her videos and she is giving away most of her schleich to move onto breyers! So very sad! I will miss her videos!

That's sad.
She said she lost interest in them and grew out of them. She wants horses you can show. Plus she's moving into a trailer home and mist of her horses will be packed away! I wish my parents would let me buy from her!

Lol personally I love Schleichs better!! They have a lot more varieties all tho I have 4 bryers. I have the applosa black Morgan and foal and the golden horse of the year (from 2014)
By Retired breeder, 31st January 2015 16:58:25
Same. You can show schleich, though, their shows are just harder to find. But at least she's not completely leaving the model horse world
SheI got still be leaving her schleich videos. She said they were bad quality. Which is very untrue.
