Finally a post just for us cross breeders. The purpose of this topic is for cross breeders to have a place to discuss their crossbreeding programs and to share crossbreeding secrets and advice with others who may be interested in giving crossbreeding a try. Feel free to talk about your crossbreeding programs and your achievements and failures in crossbreeding.
Please remember to follow the rules of the forum and be informative and helpful. default smiley :-))

Reminder to all.

Please do not advertise sales or items wanted in this topic. I can turn a blind eye to the covers being offered (as long as they are not blatant advertisements) because we are, after all, trying to help each other progress and there is no filter on public covers for searching for crosses, but items sales and items wanted do not belong in any of the public forums and we have a sales forum for horse sales so please, lets keep our topic clean of the ads.

Thanks everyone

There are reasons for rules and everyone is expected to follow them. There will be no posting of advertisements in this topic and everyone is expected to be respectful. Any disrespect towards fellow players or moderators will not be tolerated. Anyone posting advertisements will receive a forum ban without prior warning. If breaking of rules continues to take place in this topic I will delete it.

Thank you

If anyone has personal issues with another player, or needs something back from another player(items/passes), other than covers/fills-please take it to private pms...anymore posting here will mean an instant forum ban without a warning.

A reminder that this is not the place for trading/buying/selling BMI, horses or advertising or asking for someone to train your horse.
If any of these things occur, you will be forum banned without prior warning.

Sea- Thats great!!!

stallion lover, I think what best is saying is that there's an easier way for your horse to get his wins; the way you're doing it now is making it more difficult for him to get his 20 comp wins. Of course this only matters if you're trying to bold your horse in a hurry. If you don't care how long it takes then it really doesn't matter how you train.

Stuck on my cruddy netbook in my local Starbucks so I can't work on any horse at the moment. Worked out a timetable for my purebred Mars and skillers while at work and hoo boy it's gonna be an expensive affair. I have pretty much everything minus a C. Pack, a WoY, a MB so once I get my paycheck I can start on another dressage cross. *dies*
Stallion- thanks and he was 6 when he got his 20 wins now i just have to train him some more and then i can breed him

Sea- Hope you the best default smiley :)

Thefifth Estate- I know exaclty what she meant. I chosen to go this route. As you may not know but i've been training horses on howrse for 3 years now. I know all the tricks in the book, and I dont need to be reminded of my mistakesas I do know what I might of did wrong.
By Retired breeder, 8th November 2011 04:01:02
Yes, and while I've been here for a lot shorter (namely a 2-year absence) I've BLUPped/skilled my fair share of horses to 100 BLUP by age 10, and they've continued to be competitive in the races I bred/trained them for. But if that's how you want to do it, then go ahead.
By Retired breeder, 8th November 2011 04:03:15
The Fifth Estate- Well, im glad to see that you understand.
By Retired breeder, 8th November 2011 04:03:51
No need to get uptight about it. And no need to ignore the experience Fifth, or I have(not saying you don't). We were just offering some tips to help make it easier. No one was saying you were making a mistake in training it, just giving you advice on how to make it easier. If you can't take constructive criticism, or helpful advice, then at least ignore it, and don't be rude when we were just trying to help.
By Retired breeder, 8th November 2011 04:09:41
Bestfriend- How in the world was I being rude about it. I see this everyday. Since my ranking is low you always suspect that my experience is to. You and your other friends are always the ones showing off your fancy new exspensive horses while the lower class people watch in shame. You do not need to make a fight of this, this is a complete waste of my time as im going to leave right now.
By Retired breeder, 8th November 2011 04:15:13
Um, wow, let's not bring in elitism and classism here, and please don't pretend you speak for all of "the lower class people". This is only about you and some people in this thread.

There really is nothing wrong with people suggesting better ways to train your horses, just as there's nothing wrong with you saying that you'd much rather do things your way, thank you very much. It's because you say that so passive-aggressively that some of us take offense and reply to you about it.
By Retired breeder, 8th November 2011 04:16:37
So because we buy passes, and take pride in the horses we've bred/skilled, we should be ashamed in showing them off just because it "offends" people of, who you call, "lower class"? I'm not ashamed of them. There's nothing saying you can't have a "fancy expensive" horse of your own. And I don't recall saying anything about your ranking or how it relates to your experience? I don't appreciate words being put in my mouth.

Well goodbye then. I hope you have a wonderful night.
By Retired breeder, 8th November 2011 04:21:05
The Fifth Estate- Do you not know how offended I am right now. I was just told that I have not experience.... I love how none of you two even care about it. Its so condescending when someone ALWAYS has to tell you something wron about your horse. I do know I might not be the best trainer, but if you didnt know its very rude to correct me every time. For the last five months i've been taking in all of your critisism and I just had to speak up and you get all offended all of a sudden.
By Retired breeder, 8th November 2011 04:22:44
Bestfriend- EXACTLY!!! Thats what I try to do. I try to take pride in my howrse, but you type of people come and rain on my parade. Goodnight(c)
Please keep the squabbling out of the forum and stay on topic. Politeness and respect for one another is expected.

Umm I'm pretty sure that if we didn't care, we wouldn't be offering tips on how to make it easier on you. You're offended? How do you think we feel? We offer tips for you, and we're undermining your experience. We breed horses that we are proud of, and put them here to show others, and we're offending you. We breed "fancy, expensive" horses, and it shames you. We're not correcting you. We're giving you tips on how to make your horses better. And you take it as we're criticizing your every move.
enough please. its not getting anywhere and if it continues the topic will be closed. Instead lets just talk about cross's that we like, earnings we are going to make from covers, and the fact that I'm the most awesome player in the whole game. LOL

After all I'm set on world domination

Y'know, stallion lover, I like your horse. He's very well bred and has the potential to do very well in comps. My beef is not with how your method of training him is different from others'. It's the comments you add that are in complete opposition to what we see that determined what kind of responses you got. It's almost second nature for most people in this thread to offer suggestions on how to better BLUP a horse that's posted here; we *want* to help our fellow cross-breeders to the best of our abilities, even if the person in question isn't looking for it. If you had just said "thanks but no thanks, this is how I train" we'd have left you alone and we wouldn't have gone off-topic.

It looks like you'll be getting him to 100 BLUP anyway. Will you be offering covers? I wouldn't mind getting one; just need to figure out what mare I want to breed him to.
By Retired breeder, 8th November 2011 04:39:07
The Fifth Estate- Im to nice that way... I shut up
By Retired breeder, 8th November 2011 04:39:55
*** Changing Subject*** I might be giving coverings out I dont know.... If I do i'll try to give you some
By Retired breeder, 8th November 2011 04:55:53
I have some Paint/TB crosses thanks to a mare I brought who's been giving me some nice foals. It's just a smidgen of Paint left over now, though. Would this be a good breed to cross my TBs to again? I'm looking for horses that'll do well in gallop races for the most part.
By Retired breeder, 8th November 2011 04:58:09
I find that any gallop-oriented horse crossed with a Paint makes an excellent gallop comp horse so I would suggest using a Paint again.
By Retired breeder, 8th November 2011 05:04:17
Excellent. I'll keep that in mind and might start looking out for a good Paint to keep on hand, then. Thank you, Fifth Estate!
By Retired breeder, 8th November 2011 05:08:32
No problem! Sometimes it really helps to go back to the source to "replenish" a horse's skills. This is what I find fun about cross-breeding horses.
take a look at this. I was just having fun skilling up a new horse. I did NOT plan on it being an EC booster

I hate his name

I'm trying to think of a better name for him. that one annoys me.
