The NIB FAQ:

What is a NIB horse?
A NIB horse is a horse that is not inbred; every horse in its pedigree appears only once (with the exception of Ouranos and Gaia). Horses with "Horse Disappeared" in their pedigree are generally not accepted by NIB breeders unless the horses in question were bought before the horses disappeared and have verifiable pedigrees.

Are there green star NIB horses?
These horses have lower GP than green stars and other top horses, as not inbreeding limits the breeding availability and is slower to progress than breeding brothers to sisters and so forth.
**Misabel edit: The first Green star NIB horse was created on February 21, 2011 - a 6th generation Connemara pony with a star in stamina. He was the end result of a lot of hard work and effort, but now that some dedicated breeders have shown it can be done, we all have something to shoot for!

Are NIB horses considered better than green stars or inbred horses?
Goodness, no! Nobody here is attempting to make that claim. Just like the Zero GP horses, these players choose to play the game in their own challenging way.

How can I get involved with NIB breeding?
It's simple! Start by purchasing a few foundation horses, or horses whose pedigrees can be tracked down and verified as non-inbred. Then carefully breed them to create foals with good GP's and skills that are not inbred!

To take a screen shot--hit the "Prnt Scrn" button and then open up any image program (such as Microsoft Paint) and paste. The print screen button copies a screenshot which you can then paste and save as an image.

Wow, I've been slacking on my NIBs recently - lack of time, mainly, and it's made me realise I'm just not active enough in this game to BLUP all the foundation foals I seem to have accumulated, so a lot of them have to go.

I'm still keeping my Newfs and a few others, but yeah, I really need to concentrate on my main breed, fun though bidding on auctions is!

@bonnieG--look up above your F10 key, which is above 9 and 0. At least on my laptop it is...

Another NIB Quarter horse due in a few days for me...then I think it's time to start shopping for new mares with different lines...
By Retired breeder, 8th February 2010 17:00:02
Well done MissManson!

I haven't won a competition in almost a week. It's pretty disheartening default smiley :( As long a horse has full training, I think that by the time they reach 20 they should just automatically get 100 BLUP. LOL.
By Retired breeder, 8th February 2010 18:12:45
Please remember to follow the form exactly, including the "My NIB GP Entry" bit, or else I won't be able to find your entries. I almost missed one today because that part was lacking default smiley :)

Also, only horses with finished games can be entered, to keep it uncomplicated default smiley :)

Inner Chorus if any of those foundies you are selling off are Connies please let me know. I am always looking for new lines.
By Retired breeder, 8th February 2010 20:16:33
Nope, no Connies in there - they don't seem to be as popular as other breeds when it comes to starter horses.
By Retired breeder, 8th February 2010 20:34:30
Wow..some people..lol...I have had lots of people asking me to be on their list..I check their howrses and let them know which howrses are inbred and what ones arent..hence a mare being on both sides of the parentage..and they all come back as technically they are all inbred they all come from two howrses...I have to remind them kindly that kinda like we all come from adam and eve does that make you my sister..? I wonder..why i that difficult when things were explained to me..lol
By Retired breeder, 8th February 2010 20:36:59
I mean was I that difficult when I was told the difference between NIB and inbred..lol...
By Retired breeder, 8th February 2010 20:53:21
I totally don't get that line of reasoning - it seems obvious to me that Ouranos and Gaia are creator figures rather than real horses... It's a bit of a logic fail in that if all horses on Howrse are inbred as they all trace back to O and G, then you'd have to think of all horses, ponies and donkeys as the same breed, LOL!
By Retired breeder, 8th February 2010 21:34:30
How many foundations are needed for 1*? 120? well, 25 down... that leaves 95 to buy... I'm gonna need more money...
By Retired breeder, 8th February 2010 21:39:52
lol..Sandstar that is the story of everyone..never enough money..never enough howrses...lol...and then we wonder where I time goes when we start working them and look at the clock 3 hours later..lol
By Retired breeder, 8th February 2010 21:41:15
uh huh then I get outbid on a nice cheap morgan when I'm asleep ^_^
By Retired breeder, 8th February 2010 21:45:20
does anyone have a 100 BLUP PSH?I really need onedefault smiley (lol)
By Retired breeder, 8th February 2010 21:58:16
I still stand by my figures of 32-64 foundations to greenstar and I have no idea where y'all are getting that 120 figure from... My explanation of my numbers starts on page 92 and continues on page 93. =)
By Retired breeder, 8th February 2010 22:25:31
hmm I just thought I heard it somewhere... I hope you're right Jeteska
By Retired breeder, 9th February 2010 01:26:29
I've got a bad case of thirditis. four 3rds! Arg, that's even after I gave him spurs..... *Curses PSH stallion*default smiley (li)default smiley (lol)
By Retired breeder, 9th February 2010 01:27:27
I think 32 is too few for a greenstar. From 32 you get 16 foals, from 16 you get 8, from 8 you get 4, from 4 you get 2, and then one. That's five generations...and I don't think that's close enough for a greenstar. Heck, 3 generations is just a little over 360GP. You might be able to achieve it in 10 generations, if you pushed really hard.
