It's about time the NIB breeders had their own corner of the world default smiley ;)

Curious about NIB horses? Want to know what a NIB horse is? You've come to the right place!

The NIB FAQ:

What is a NIB horse?
A NIB horse is a horse that is not inbred; every horse in its pedigree appears only once (with the exception of Ouranos and Gaia). Horses with "Horse Disappeared" in their pedigree are generally not accepted by NIB breeders unless the horses in question were bought before the horses disappeared and have verifiable pedigrees.

Are there green star NIB horses?
These horses have lower GP than green stars and other top horses, as not inbreeding limits the breeding availability and is slower to progress than breeding brothers to sisters and so forth.
**Misabel edit: The first Green star NIB horse was created on February 21, 2011 - a 6th generation Connemara pony with a star in stamina. He was the end result of a lot of hard work and effort, but now that some dedicated breeders have shown it can be done, we all have something to shoot for!

Are NIB horses considered better than green stars or inbred horses?
Goodness, no! Nobody here is attempting to make that claim. Just like the Zero GP horses, these players choose to play the game in their own challenging way.

How can I get involved with NIB breeding?
It's simple! Start by purchasing a few foundation horses, or horses whose pedigrees can be tracked down and verified as non-inbred. Then carefully breed them to create foals with good GP's and skills that are not inbred!

freedomreins - I saw your horses in the comps - you had some in a show with one of my oldies and some by themselves. I threw some fillers in the ones where you were the only one entered, and too bad there weren't more thrown in. I find that the best way to win comps is to train appropriately and work with other NIBers to fill. Having a network of NIB fillers in your breed is a definite plus.

When choosing which shows to put your horse in, make sure to check the other horses already entered to see if yours can win based on the three skills for that show type (ie show jumping looks at jumping then speed then dressage) Remember to consider bonuses as well. Also, enter the lowest possible difficulty shows that are visible to the horse to try and keep out of the ranges of monsters.

If you're ever showing again just drop me a message with what types of shows and the horses name and I can throw 2 fillers in each of the comps

Thanks always, I did try to check what horses I was running against but sometimes the best options were still far better than my horses, lol. I'll definitely make a point of trying to always enter the lowest ones available, that's a good tip. Thanks!

Okay I'm off for the weekend so I get to play a bit while I do homework. I worked my competitors tonight. Most of them are low level just starting out or are older and seem to have decided not to win anything. I might get them done sometime before they are ready to retire default smiley (lol). We'll just have to wait and see how well they do I guess.

How is everyone doing, I feel like I miss out on everything when I'm not able to get one as much throughout the week.

Definitely barring myself from the auctions.. if you notice my amazingly depleted reserved I just went gung ho and spent all my money on an ungamed foundation. Which will be great... but I'll have to scrimp and scrounge for a while to get back some equus lol.

For those wondering about how competition wins are chosen, moderator 'funnyone' has a post in her EC's forum about it, broken down by percentage.

I win almost all of my competitions without the aid of Black Market items (not counting CT, as it doesn't do anything for competitions) by picking an ideal competition for that breed and training in the two second-best stats for that comp.

Oh dear, I've just been searching through my herd and half my horses have disappeared parents in their line somewhere default smiley :( I've been gone for about a year and a half so I guess they've disappeared in my absence. That's so sad, half my herd is basically worthless now default smiley :'( I couldn't even sell the colt I had up in the auctions yesterday for 800e.

freedomreins, sorry to hear about the stroke of bad luck. I had the same thing happen and lost about 15 foals.
I am keeping all my foundation horses from now on and maybe...just maybe with a trusted breeder might use an outside horse.

I tossed in my two cents on Misabel's idea......I know the input from Ow makes it look a bit doubtful for anything being done but I think we ought to at least put it out there that NIB programs are a valid aspect of the game and worthy of being paid attention to....default smiley :p

Getting wins for Caoimhe...in a very teeth-pulling fashion...the foundies are evidently on strike...

If you come up with a vaccine for fourth-itis, can you let me know? Yesterday's results were pretty grim. Typical, the IBs I'm BLUPing as a comp booster got *her* wins.....it's always the ones I'm in no hurry to breed. default smiley ;)

Haven't done anything with my foundies in days default smiley xd. Might go do something now I suppose but I'm feeling lazy. Monday and Tuesday I will probably catch back up, no work default smiley :p. It's superbowl weekend so terribly busy this weekend default smiley xd lol

Good job on that lovely find Sandstar, my only guess on it going cheap for you is that it's a different breed. I believe arabians are the most expensive so best not to base other breeds prices off of them default smiley ;)

Yay, finally we're going to have under 20 win competitions default smiley (l) *happy*.

Although actually I came here to mention I got a 350.10 Friesian foundie stallion in a trade, he has CT and a GA and is 7 years 4 months, doesn't have too much training done either so he should be BLUPable. So if any of the Friesian NIBers want him let me know default smiley :). Technically I didn't pay anything for him so I just want him to go to a good home default smiley (lol).
