The NIB FAQ:

What is a NIB horse?
A NIB horse is a horse that is not inbred; every horse in its pedigree appears only once (with the exception of Ouranos and Gaia). Horses with "Horse Disappeared" in their pedigree are generally not accepted by NIB breeders unless the horses in question were bought before the horses disappeared and have verifiable pedigrees.

Are there green star NIB horses?
These horses have lower GP than green stars and other top horses, as not inbreeding limits the breeding availability and is slower to progress than breeding brothers to sisters and so forth.
**Misabel edit: The first Green star NIB horse was created on February 21, 2011 - a 6th generation Connemara pony with a star in stamina. He was the end result of a lot of hard work and effort, but now that some dedicated breeders have shown it can be done, we all have something to shoot for!

Are NIB horses considered better than green stars or inbred horses?
Goodness, no! Nobody here is attempting to make that claim. Just like the Zero GP horses, these players choose to play the game in their own challenging way.

How can I get involved with NIB breeding?
It's simple! Start by purchasing a few foundation horses, or horses whose pedigrees can be tracked down and verified as non-inbred. Then carefully breed them to create foals with good GP's and skills that are not inbred!

Just organized my non-black NIB Hanos and produced two first gen foals - one was my best first gen so far: GP 356.24 before games, so 357.44 after.

I definitely have a foundation and auction addiction... but I also have my equus being fairly depleted and I am worried I'll keep on spending all of it and not be able to buy a spectacular find in the sales... aw well, equus is there for spending right?

Best of luck with all you showers out there. If you are showing hanos or open breed comps, let me know as I have oodles (yes oodles!) of fillers that I would love to throw into the show and help you out with.

Q: What training schedules/programmes do people use here if blupping and bolding without bm items?

It's taken me to 20 years with my mare and she's not bolded yet. I'm worried I won't even get a foal from her.

Sandstar, I am BLUPing my foundie PSH stallion, he's 8 something and 60+ BLUP. Try looking for a BLUPing schedule in the BLUPing/Training OT in the Events maybe. I got my stallion from Yankee Lady, ask her who was BLUPing the horse Nutty (that she sold to Pintar5) and maybe she'll remember. Good luck.default smiley ;)

Urg,no luck with comps, even with my 9* ib PSH mare. (You gotta make a living somehow, and it doesn't come from NIBing!default smiley (lol)) She caught seconditis. 1 first, 2 seconds, a third, 2 fourths, and a fifth. BLUP mare!default smiley (li) She's like 17 (immortal) and still not BLUPed!default smiley :(

My training programme is adapted from Storm Sire's one and I have used it successfully in the past on Hanoverian, Aussie Pony, Paint, Quarter Horse, and a few other different breeds. It involves training speed and dressage to the full, full short rides (different ones dependant on breed) and then competing only with tub of grease. I have varied it slightly for my own use, however Storm Sire's regime provided a brilliant base to work off. I followed it dilligently and it was brilliant, except when my horses refused to get any Tubs of Grease.

However, I am going to try one I found that suggests training dressage/gallop and long gallop rides to max those two skills out. Followed by barrel races. I haven't fully tested this one yet, but as long as the horse/pony has decent gallop/dressage GP and low speed, it should be okay to use. I don't know how this is going to work on my Morgans, but I am hopeful (if it can work with a Morgan, I would think that it will work fine with any other breed with low/average speed). I think I have one foundie kicking around with zero BMs and something like 15 wins in barrels... somewhere.

I wish I could help some folks with a few fillers, but as I am testing different training methods and attempting to earn more equus with the horses I currently have. I don't currently have any who are that badly trained/bad health/skills and such that would make good fillers. Congrats to those of you getting your wins!

I also have to apologise to the owner of a foundation paint horse, I think it was a paint anyway, might have been a TB. I entered one of my comp horses in the same race this morning before it hit me that it was a foundation. I am very, very sorry for that.

Off to bed now, I think. I need to be up early tomorrow to start hunting for another EC booster (very, very tempted to start on my own, but for that, I need money! and lots of it! and a lot of BM items)

Sandstar12: The last time I BLUPed and bolded a howrse with no BM items she was finally done at 20 years, 4 months. CT makes things a lot easier, since you can bold out in half the time. The trick is knowing where to get your wins so you don't use precious time that could otherwise be training running more races.

Abria had a case of seconditis this morning, but I guess it's okay since it helped out Auto. ~_~

There's no way I can work on two breeds at once (I neglect with only one as it is), and much as I hate BLUPing Hackneys as a breed, I'm too attached to mine, so they stay.

However, next new breed with gallop, dressage and speed as top 3 skills is MINE...

Hey everyone, I have an NIB Hanoverian colt in the auctions with 7 hours left. Asking only 800e for him. He should finish his games at 351.43. He has a 'horse disappeared' in his lines, however I owned both his parents and can assure you that he is purebred and not inbred. His name is Technicolour, please check him out!

Also, I might be willing to sell one of the twins that was born today... she is a Hanoverian filly who will finish at my highest GP ever, 360.30. You can see her on my page as Serengetti Foal 2. freedomreins horses disappear from the lines because the disappeared howrse was owned by a player that hit the delete button. All the information on the howrse goes away and no one can tell it's pedigree.

Unfortunetly this means that most (and I mean almost everyone) will not buy a horse with a disappeared line, even with screen shots

digger, unfortunately sales ads aren't really allowed though you are allowed to place want ads or find breeders for what they breed and PM them. Good luck with your TB though

I'm at my grandparents so haven't done any comps or training in the last 2 days. Computer is too slow lol. I will be back at the grindstone tonight though. I also signed up for babydow if anyone is interested in finding me on there default smiley (lol)

@foxy3000123: No, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have mentioned it. I'm sure I've done the same thing. It's part of the game.


From a technical standpoint, I can't even imagine all the space the horses on Howrse take up. The database must be -enormous-. If every howrse that existed continued to exist, it would eventually lag up and overload the servers so much everything would crash. They had to draw the line somewhere... and while it makes things difficult for us sometimes, that's where the line got drawn.

That's part of the reason I try to avoid making my (inbred) horses immortal, it just adds to the server stress. Once they're no longer near the "top" of the game, I get a pass from them and the server gets a slightly smaller load.

I'm sure the server is absolutely huge, I don't debate that at all, it's just disappointing that it then affects our horses later on.

Jeteska - that's an interesting thought on the immortal vs. mortal debate. I've got a couple that aren't and I'm still waffling over whether to p.stone them or not -- granted they'll slide down the ranks as the stars increase but they do continue to churn out a decent living from comps....hmmmmm..definitely food for thought though!

Forest - AAAAAHHHH Babydow!! I went there briefly -- I might have been deleted by now -- it was somewhat amusing and then I found myself mildy disturbed at the idea of *training* babies....default smiley (lol) But then again, I'm a bit off the beaten path, parenting-philosophy-wise......the whole competition thing freaked me out a bit....default smiley :o

Assorted *yippees* and congrats on everyone's continued successes -- I'm still waiting on a whole whack of comps to run but have squeaked out a few wins in between bouts of seconditis.....

I've entered a lot of my horses in multiple competitions today and come out with only one first! default smiley :( I don't have a lot of passes and I don't intend to buy any more, so most of my horses only have a timer if they have anything from the BM at all. It seems like NIB breeders have a bit of a disadvantage because we have lower skill levels with our horses. I understand this, and I'm not going to start inbreeding just to win competitions, but do any of you have any suggestions for doing well in comps without spending a whole lot of passes? How are the results calculated, is it always the horse with the best stats or is there a degree of randomness thrown in there? Any advice would be appreciated. It didn't use to be this difficult to win! Thanks default smiley :)

I feel your pain, it feels as if I can't buy a win lately....and I don't have spare cash for passes to help out! The worst part is that I got a little crazy in the auctions, and now I'm trying to BLUP 15 horses at once. Eek! default smiley :o

Re: dissapearing horses, much as I hate to be That Guy who pimps their forum ideas, I posted an idea last night suggesting Howese look into an alternative way of handling deleted horses. Hopefully enough folks like it that it'll get a look! I'm on eggshells right now because I'd bid on a nice 1st-gen filly and her foundie dam....won the filly, but lost the dam to someone I suspect may be multi-accounting. It'd be a shame to have to get rid of the filly if her dam goes *poof*.... default smiley :(
