The NIB FAQ:

What is a NIB horse?
A NIB horse is a horse that is not inbred; every horse in its pedigree appears only once (with the exception of Ouranos and Gaia). Horses with "Horse Disappeared" in their pedigree are generally not accepted by NIB breeders unless the horses in question were bought before the horses disappeared and have verifiable pedigrees.

Are there green star NIB horses?
These horses have lower GP than green stars and other top horses, as not inbreeding limits the breeding availability and is slower to progress than breeding brothers to sisters and so forth.
**Misabel edit: The first Green star NIB horse was created on February 21, 2011 - a 6th generation Connemara pony with a star in stamina. He was the end result of a lot of hard work and effort, but now that some dedicated breeders have shown it can be done, we all have something to shoot for!

Are NIB horses considered better than green stars or inbred horses?
Goodness, no! Nobody here is attempting to make that claim. Just like the Zero GP horses, these players choose to play the game in their own challenging way.

How can I get involved with NIB breeding?
It's simple! Start by purchasing a few foundation horses, or horses whose pedigrees can be tracked down and verified as non-inbred. Then carefully breed them to create foals with good GP's and skills that are not inbred!

NIB rankings have been updated default smiley :)
By Retired breeder, 1st February 2010 22:17:59
Sunny83 - oh, I'm just chipping away at the heap...getting a win here and there, although for my 1G, it's like pulling teeth. I'm inclined to agree on the not having any IBS....it would certainly keep them out of that low-middle category where all the win-mongers hang out. default smiley :@ Caoimhe is at 11 wins now and a couple of my foundies have picked up a few but I slacked off over the weekend too -- for the same reason.default smiley (lol)

Ferret - I'm not sure how the Gaia foal thing works as it was slightly before my time -- and really, who can know the true value of such a thing when they're new?default smiley :( StartingRight and Obsidianmoon head up the NIB list -- just click on the link on my page (and most of everyone else here) and it will take you to a spot where all the breeds are listed and who is doing them. Or someone also mentioned earlier...a forum...tigerlily? Not sure.

I'm busy trying to get my EC comps improved and running...had to throw a few of my greenies under the bus for the purpose -- taking one for the team and all that default smiley :-)).... *shakes fist at level 8*
I was buying horses for ranking and look what I bought without realizing it:

Hi guys! I was wondering if you could help me look for a NIB australlion pony male from two starter horses, or a male starter, please? I need a mate for Weasel War Dance for when I get her good enough to have babies. I'd really like a white one, but I guess it doesn't matter too much.

I'm happy, I can get to do competitions with my arabian mare soon. I hope she does okay.
I wish you luck in those comps Ferret default smiley (y). Arabians are challenging but they certainly make you feel good when you get the job done default smiley (lol)

Demon Hunter did it, go that random win in trot default smiley :p. Now she just needs 6 more wins and she'll be completed default smiley xd

I got a hano stud all bolded for Yankee Lady, just waiting on 10 more wins *sigh* The torment of waiting on those wins lol

It is just so gosh darn quite in here as of late

Yep. Was just coming to congratulate you on Demon Hunter's wins! Sharrir is mine now and came in second in both *chuckles* Ah well..I'll get you next time!
Thanks, just noticed she got that other win default smiley (lol). I am happy to see she got two wins while I was bolding trot and gallop.

Yay, another win for Strawberry Lark. One more and he's done default smiley :-))

I just got an immortal TB foundie in the sales w/ CT and MB for 5k. I almost ignored him until I saw he was a foundation, so I grabbed him up. A few days ago I also picked up a immortal foundation SB, but I'm comtemplating selling him, since I have no use for him.
By Retired breeder, 2nd February 2010 13:34:15
WOOT! Nice purchases there, Sunshine1515!! default smiley (y)

I am utterly despairing over these comps....seriously, I resorted to entering open comps this morning (with the predictably disastrous results) because the newfie ranks are flooded with monsters and mini-monsters. Ack. I have no idea what to do...take a break and wait for them all to advance onwards?

*sigh*

Hi everyone! I breed, and have always bred, NIB Hanoverians and Newfoundland Ponies. I'm just returning after a very long time away.

I just wanted to ask - some horses that are bred from a pairing of two foundation horses have a much higher GP than I would have expected. I thought the foal's GP was roughly an average of its parents? Am I wrong or has it changed?
By Retired breeder, 2nd February 2010 14:44:41
GP gain is also influenced by how high the GP of the top horses in the game is, so as their GP increases the GP of foals born from foundies continues to rise. I used to get 352-ish from my foundation pairs when I first started and am now seeing 356-7!
By Retired breeder, 2nd February 2010 14:58:17
Excellent, thanks Inner Chorus! default smiley :) That's very good news!
Wait a sec.... NIB mustangs are only at 357.44??? I just bred twin NIB mustang unis and the GP before games is 357.23. So if I game one properly, I will have the highest NIB mustang? At only 358.43? Wow! Maybe I should start messing with my foundies again!

Yeah, you'd top the current best GP as posted here (not sure whether other NIB mustang breeders who don't post here have higher, but that's the highest I know of). Congrats on the NIB unis, by the way!

I'd like to encourage anyone with any kind of NIB program in development to check out the group forum at http://nib-list.obsidianmoonranch.com/. It's a really good place to connect with other NIB breeders, find stallions and horses for sale, and set up breeding partnerships!

I certainly don't have any of the highest-GP NIB Quarters out there but I'm getting increasingly proud of my little stable of 6. My foundation mare is getting up there in years but fortunately she's left me two daughters to continue the lines--or start new ones, as it were. I finally started advertising one of my stallions on the NIB forums listed above so hopefully I can start to expand and connect with other NIB breeders!
By Retired breeder, 2nd February 2010 18:12:16
Star Bar, I signed up for the forum there several days ago but it seems I am still waiting to be allowed to use it? My username is the same as this one.
By Retired breeder, 2nd February 2010 18:23:44
Hmm...I'm not an administrator so I can't approve anyone--I think the admins of those forums just need to do something on their end. The forums there have been quiet for a few days but hopefully it's just a slow period--you could try sending a game message either to Starting Right or Obsidianmoon.
