Can we all say boycott?

I’m so mad. I already have horrible vision due to Kindle, I’ll be blind by 2027.

As someone who has been playing on and off since 2005, I have come back more than once after losing accounts due to inactivity, and I have come back after some of the other awful changes.

This change makes me not want to come back at all. As a mom who uses her phone to play on the fly when can this new update has really put a wrench in my ability to play. And I know I am not the only one. Saying things like "awesome new updates" don't actually make them awesome.

As sad as it is to say, I know we are all screaming into the void on this one. And I am afraid that because of this, this will be the slow end of this game. And honestly part of me hopes that is true. How can any company make such changes and say "we want to hear what you think" but then just laugh at us and say "Get used to it" and just get to continue on thriving. I know it could happen but I hope one way or another this will be a major hit and a lesson will be learned.

MILLIONS of games have mobile additions that function as a MOBILE app. Howrse already had one. There is Z E R O reason this change needed to happen. In a world where most people are on the go 24/7 they are going to access this game via mobile. And making this change makes that almost impossible. Those of us who access it on a desktop likely do so on occasion. Forcing us to do some more often is nearly impossible.

Maybe I just wasted 5 minutes of my time writing this or MAYBE someone running this platform will read this and many other replies like mine and and help reverse this awful change.

As others are also doing I'm only logging in to check the forums and see if anything has changed back and we've been listened to.

Disappointing to see they have not listened to any of us and think we should just get used to the changes, if they really wont do anything then this is going to be the games downfall.
I also have played this game for over 10 years (coming back only a few years ago again) and to see so many dedicated Howrse players also agree that this is too much and is quit level changes says ALOT.

Listen to your audience Howrse, the least you could do is allow an option to play the old version on moblie AND desktop (as a main desktop user). This isn't some amazing "enjoyable' experience as you say it is.

It's going to be really sad if we have to let this game go because of such a silly update. Guess we'll have to wait till someone makes a crack version of the game when this one dies, just like they did with Moshi Monsters.

My only complaint is that I can’t see my avatar photo on the app. Besides that, the new mobile/app layout actually makes me want to play the app version now. I did not like the old app layout. It was very confusing just how different the two versions were, especially as someone who’s really only used the desktop browser version (because the app was just that bad to me). It’s much easier on my brain to switch between the versions now because before it was like I was playing two different games.

I know this isn’t the majority opinion right now, but I like it!

In all honesty I find it hilarious, and they tick me OFF big time - they actually claim they have made the game better by doing the following:

- Slapping a floating top bar on the site, that activates every time you get even an inch to close to it. Centering the bar in a desperate attempt to try and make it as wide as the page itself.... failing in the process. Hover over achievements and you'll see how the goes out of bounds.

- Make the text in the bar gigantic
- All other text is so tiny I cannot read naught - have to zoom to at least 130-140%. (Playing on a PC, using a browser). That zoom does not even transfer when I choose to open a new tab.

- The interface blinks when ever you click anything.
- The yellow background color on text seriously messes with my eyesight now, as if it wasn't bad before the change.
- The game literally gives me headache and vertigo now. I just have to play for a few minutes and there it is. (Yes I wear prescription glasses)

I know you can install an app to change the colors, and I have used it many times before.
How ever I find it annoying that I only need to use it on Howrse. Have no problems with other games.

Again and again we have asked WHY they do not at least try to use W3C - is it really that had to use Web Standards? Is it really that hard to use best practices including using colors that do not give severe eye strain?
I don't even know why I bother any more, it's crystal clear they do not care.

Please please change it back! I miss playing my game folks!

I'm not seeing it mentioned here but apparently they sent out a message about the update on Discord... I, like many players, don't have Discord.

Me trying to play off my phone: squint, zoom, zoom, press, scroll, scroll, press, squint, zoom, zoom, scroll, scroll and its doesn't stop, the eye strain and headache is not fun.

Me playing off desktop: continuous memory clicking and ending up where I didn't want to go, obnoxious little bar that follows you as you scroll cue the headache.

Starting to really reinforce that they don't want this game to continue and want to slowly wean us all off so they can scrap it

Seems like our requests are not being considered? I really wish Howrse would say something to reassure us loyal players to put us at ease. I am feeling very stressed and sad (just to name a few feelings) every day I pray by some miracle that things go back to the way they were so I can enjoy playing again! Like it was all a terrible nightmare. Please Howrse I am begging you hear us and DO SOMETHING about it. PLEASE. THANK YOU in advance.

Okay. I have finally managed to get on here with my laptop instead of quick check-ins with my phone (using Classic). I've been in the hospital most of this week (I feel like a pincushion, lol) and could not get the lappy out although I brought it along.

Now that I finally have gotten a look at the desktop version from my laptop instead of my phone, this is okay. What I don't like is that even on Classic, I don't see a "breadcrumb trail" up top when I'm on my phone. Here on the lappy, it's still there, just with basically an updated look. That, I can deal with. (I rarely use my phone to play, but this week it was what was easiest to get to until today.)

absolute nightmare to try and take care of horses, every single time I use the actual mouse cursor to try and select an amount to feed, the "today" button pops up and blocks all the other care buttons. I don't always have two hands available to type in the amount I want to feed, so it's just annoying and takes longer to care for any horses. If it doesn't get moved, ideally back to where it was before, I won't be caring for many, if any horses. Also, the font doesn't even fit into a lot of the new rounded box edges on the site, like the "no unread notifications" button. You can really tell that the devs do not actually play the game and don't care about testing updates like this, because if they had tried to take care of any horses before rolling this out, they would have noticed that it's a major issue. Now you have to move a mouse cursor in big circles around the site so you avoid the huge popups that were never a problem beforehand, or take the time for every horse cared for to scroll a ways down the page in order to cut off the navigation bar that's way too close to the care buttons now.

Not sure what is going on but I have sent a ticket in regarding Laptop / Desk top users regarding the new mobile users update and am leaving it there as it's now the weekend. Busy weekend ahead

Hey all... I just figured out how to submit a ticket to them... I believe that submitting tickets will be much more effective than posting here. Although posting here is good for community solidarity.

If you scroll down to the bottom of the page (at least on the desktop/laptop version), in very small font on the bottom right is "contact us" and it will open a new page that allows you to submit a ticket by selecting "send a new request" on the left-hand side.

Sending tickets that are heartfelt and honest but still respectful and professional will hopefully be most effective.

I informed them that I have been playing on/off (mostly on) since 2007 and would like to keep on playing and that I have not had these issues in any previous version of the game or on other website. I mentioned the issues I am having are nausea and the banner covering up my a good chunk of my horses and that it is effecting my enjoyment of the game and that I may not be able to play the game routinely (or at all) much longer if this is not changed.

I hope to get a response from a person (I think you may have to select "email notification" at the end of the ticket message to ensure you see their reply). Hope this works. I truly have not seen more negative feedback about a change than this, so hopefully if we keep on in our numbers and similarity of issues- they will eventually hear us. It may also take them some time to revert the changes. I expect that the people reviewing these messages are not the same people that have the ability to alter to user interface of the game.

I will try to log on once per day to check messages but that's it. I can't do more than that until this banner goes away (nausea emoji)

Oh my gosh that "today" button is abysmal!! I keep accidentally hovering over it and it keeps popping up and disrupting my flow with blupping

I just want to add that I agree with the posted messages regarding the new mobile game design. It's impossible to use now and is just a copy/paste of the current website.

Don't like the new look bring back the old version as won't play to I get the choice

Quit fixing what ain't broke Howrse. If your team needs something to do, how about some new trophies to shoot for? Or make things valuable by discontinuing and retiring things. Collectors want whats rare, and pay a lot to get it. Every good collectors game knows this. Yet the last thing retired where some hello rays. That was so long ago and people had some time to get them all first, so most aren't that rare.

Why not put a stop to all those hiking journals? I'm begging! I really hate those actually, so I wouldn't collect them, but others might. The sales are clogged with horses in ugly outfits.

I hate the new place where they put the menu. So much unnecessary clicking.

I understand that many people are having much worse problems than I am but, for me, if they'd just pin the flipping bar in place at the top of the page I'd manage to get used to other small irritations. I always play on classic and usually on a pc or tablet. The scrolling bar just gets in the way all the time.

I’m sure all of this feedback has already been shared but I wanted to add my thoughts as well on the app!
- I strongly dislike the horizontal gameplay and prefer vertical.
- buttons are too small. Trying to feed horses accurately takes too long since the slider and the auto feed (where it would automatically jump to the amt of food needed) are gone. I didn’t look at rides/training but I imagine the problem would be the same there. Sliders for feed/rides/training are essential.
- auto comp should be brought back! It makes caring for many horses faster and easier.
- the horse page always reloads at the top of the page. When entering comps, this adds another scroll to the process, making it more time consuming. Even on desktop, it reloads lower on the page so you can skip this scroll.
- something needs to be done to easily show how many skills you gain from each comp to avoid over-competing when BULPING. This is shown by hovering over the comps on desktop and it used to be easy to auto-comp on mobile and keep an eye on your horse’s total skill number, but is now much more challenging on the new quasi desktop version. I don’t have a suggestion for how to fix this but I also wanted to flag it as a QOL improvement for the future.

Overall I dislike the new app update. It makes caring for horses more time consuming. If I wanted to play on desktop I would! I have heard that devs did this to better merge website/app updates, and if that is so complex then maybe they should hire another app person or even explore AI solutions because this app is not going to help grow the player base.

I wish they'd update the art of the horses instead of trying to change the layout. We've had the same art for years now, so that could really use a change. I know it would take a while with the amount of breeds there are, but I'd still love to see it.

Please change it back or offer us a choice.

The lag that followed the update has been terrible. Every time I load the page (farming or blupping), the new menu unfolds across the screen as it loads. It's terrible. And it slows everything down


At least now that I don't have the weekend promos continuously in front of me I'm less likely to waste passes trying for the divines.


I guess this is just a continuation of the normal "if it's not broke, we'll break it." And of course why bother asking for feedback. And even if feedback is asked for, it's generally ignored anyway. It's just a repeat of the recent "updates" that no one asked for or liked. You know, like the trophies, the ascent being made harder, sales being demolished because of the trophy update (coats that used to sell for passes are now fairly useless), etc. And then question why players leave the game
