Ive read a lot about rescources, but what are they actually for? I get the leather for saddles, but iron, wood and sand??

As stated in the Blog and time line - eventually, ECs will be able to craft their own items (such as tack, boxes, etc). This is what the resources will be for...While I can't think of much for Sand or Iron (beyond metal for tack) - Wood would be used to make Boxes for example

The Seal of the Apocalypse will be added close to or on Halloween. And that it will be done in a sale like the Bewitched Pumpkin and 5th Element were recently

If you're talking about the SoA, I assume that it will, just because it wouldn't really make sense to release a Halloween BMI during November ! Probably a little later this week, maybe even tomorrow

Wood would be for building/upgrading stalls. Iron, probably for something like horseshoes or tack buckles.... The sand, maybe for arena footing? Maybe this means we'll get to build/have actual "arena/rings", like we do tracks and stalls and fields?

The following is taken from the Blog (a place of free information) and thus does not require a spoiler:

Indeed, all the items that are available at the stores will be only created by players. And the price of these items will depend on the quantities you will sell and buy. So this economic system will be totally independent from us. There will be more interactions between you, players. This should make the game more strategic.

So yes, it seems resources (or at the very least, the items they can make) will be sell able

neat idea, the price reflecting the quantity. So the more there are available for sale, the cheaper it'll be? and if there's less, the price is higher?

That's what I gather from it - the old Supply and Demand system (this is what is in place right now on a few items (3*** tack, 3*** boxes, scarecrows, etc)

Famine is the most common SoA Coat. You don't even want to know how many passes it took me to get Plauge(rarest)! The most were Famine.
In order by rarity. First one is the rarest.
1. Plauge
2. Death
3. War
4. Famine

Howrse is starting to be more of a EC based game now. Why would we want to craft our own items just to make it available? Boxes, why can't we just leave it so we can buy them!?! What if someone really needs more resource, and can't do anything to their EC until they have some more resources?

I don't see an issue with it. I think it's an interesting twist that will make things "easier" financially, and a cool way to get boarders more involved in your EC.

I know. Thats the only good part about it! I mean, what if someone don't have enough resources? Then what do they do?

Buy the stuff from others ~ simple as that.

Personally - I like the fact that Howrse is making ECs more interactive in a way. As someone who does not do a lot of breeding (except for fun) and doesn't care about the GP races - my EC is really what keeps me entertained.

As for those who are in this for the GP race and the like - I feel it won't hurt them much (save for maybe a little issue at first with finding centers with all the benefits and best lesson gain)
