BreezeCatcher, sell the turnips, not keep. It'll get more profit because if you have, say, 1,000 turnips, you won't need 25,000 fodder. Buy less and get profit. default smiley ;)

And I'm worried about new foal games; if you can't get 60 skills, should Howrse lower the number???

And what makes you eligible for being selected for a test server?

You can get full 60 gain with or without a shower, your horse just wakes up not very healthy the next day.

If you are a VIP then there is a link on our homepage that generates an invitation to the tests.

Fanta, but then how will you get more skills the next day if there is less health/energy/morale?

How I wish I had the energy to save up every pass I got from now on until I had enough to have a year of VIP account. Then I'd have the best Howrse year ever. -_- So not fair. By paying Howrse, you get special perks that players who work hard every day don't get unless they dedicate a portion of their time to wasting it on pass horses and the luck of the draw. No offense to pass buyers, but I believe some Howrse players that buy passes from the start don't deserve VIP accounts. I've seen several people who are less than pleasant but get the perks of VIP all the same.

I just entered my grand prix horses, and without a shower or the extra stroke you will come in below 20% to bed your horse down without turnips.

I see a race for shower stalls.

Good job I have nearly all the bonuses on my main server. *phew*

What should we start hoarding? I've sort of made a list:
Turnips (25x fodder)
Turnip seeds (25x alfalfa seeds)
A few infertile meadows
Droppings

It's better to keep your turnips so that you don't have to buy fodder.

That's the problem, you either have to Orchid the horse or not do rides until it's healthy again. With a shower you can complete games and have a healthy horse the following day.

I am a non pass buyer and have had the VIP account since it came out.

Pass horses hardly take any time at all. Buy a horse that's 30, age it once, pass. Do that ten times and you will have enough for VIP.

I think that if someone wants to buy passes then that is perfectly fine. It is their choice, after all and they shouldn't be "judged" for spending their money how they want to.

And in my opinion, anyone who buys the VIP account deserves the perks.

[spoiler]Fanta, not everyone has enough equus to buy 39 year old horses for the current market price. They're expensive and need a lot of equus saving to buy.

I guess so, but I didn't mean it that way. I just see a lot of unpleasant people, especially today, and more than once have they told me to shut my mouth. Ignore and leave the trolls, apparently, but some followed me and sent excruciatingly rude messages. My temper is flared but right now it's cooling.

Umm, the games are only for foals, are they not? So how can they do rides?

;D buy horses that aren't immediate passes and age them up yourself. That's what I do. I just collect a whole horde of them, and run them daily and they become passes or I could sell them for a lot if I was inclined at pass age. You don't -have- to pay for the 30 year olds at market unless you literally want to do -no- work outside of spending money. I'm pretty sure that should be common knowledge by now? haha

The foal games messing up the rides has to do wit the fact to get the 60 skills without a shower you'll have to lose some health. Since not 100% health = skill gain penalty, that's how it effects it. Basically you'll have less than 100% health for a while after the foal grows up, or you know, you just over trained your foal for the last few points you could LOSE the advantage by doing rides before 100% health anyways?? (that would make zero sense)

Evion, I have common knowledge. I don't do that; I'm referring to what Fanta said. I have a tab consisting of 9 or 10 AP farming and eventual pass horses; one's hitting 20 soon. Most are foals, but I got them for less than 1500 a piece and I think that's good if they give me APs and droppings and equus.

Either way I usually get my BLUPs done fast, before 10 years.

[spoiler] You guys are talking about the necessity of showers for full foal games. Perhaps showers are going to be one of the items in future production cycles, and therefore more easy to access, do you guys think so? Although metal and rubber and pipes do not seem to be readily available on either beaches, forest, or mountains...
By Retired breeder, 20th August 2014 12:34:10
Actually, I sell a lot of pass howrses, it's how I make most of my equus, and the price of them has dropped considerably in the past month! They used to go for 115-120k, and now are sometimes as low as 102k!
What happened to the cards? Are they coming?

That sounds like a good list, I'll collect some turnip seeds and extra infertile meadows along with the droppings and my giant turnip collection.

are a big problem with the new feed changes. Right now I have devised a new foal games schedule there, which will give only 59.4, not 60, to foals who do *not* have shower box, Grand Prix super water, or philotes stroke. Still working on it, but it may not be possible to get the full 60.

If they have a shower box then no change is required to my old games schedule, and getting the 60 is easy peasy. But without that, and with the new feed amounts, and non-existant turnips, they are currently trying to do games with 8% less energy available than in the past.

It sounds like foal games are about to become a serious problem...I need to turn my EC into the perfect place to Blup my Chincoteague Unicorns.

Discover the latest team improvements.

From now on, for the affix rating, the genetic potential that will be taken into account will exclusively be the highest GP born in the team and not the average of the 20 best horses born under that affix.

It is however still necessary to breed at least 20 horses to be eligible.

The Rankings
The rankings for both affixes and teams are merged on a single page. You will be able to find all the rankings per breed. They are updated daily.
The genetic potential ranking bases itself on the highest genetic potential for each team.

The maths for the prestige calculation is modified: it takes into account the genetic potential ranking, the births, rosettes, Grand Prix as well as the number of stars achieved for the affix rating.

The unicorn teams
Teams open themselves to unicorns and will have their own rating!
When you create a team you can chose to reserve it to a breed of unicorns. It is now possible to be part of two teams breeding the same breed as long as one of the teams is for unicorns.
The unicorn rating works the same way as the one for horses.

Thank you

Carrots, Mashes, & Food updates. I like these!

Click to display
By Ow, 18th August 2014 10:44:14
The way treats work is reviewed, here are the things that change:

Carrots

- A carrot gives +8% in energy and the action lasts 15 minutes
- The EC offers carrots to its boarders if it has any in its inventory. If it doesn’t have any, the boarders must use the ones they have in their inventory. It is therefore possible to buy carrots in the breeder’s store.

Mash

- The turnips disappears and is replaced by the mash
- The action lasts 30 minutes and can be done once a day.
- When a horse eats a mash, he gets:
o +10 energy
o +10 morale
o +5 health
- The EC offers mashes to its boarders, if it doesn’t have any the boarders must use the ones they have in their inventory. It is therefore possible to buy mashes in the breeder’s store.
- For horses over 25 years old the mash only gives energy and morale but no health

Food

- The grain become oats and fodder is produced by alfalfa crops
- The EC offers oats and fodder to its boarders, if it doesn’t have any the boarders must use the ones they have in their inventory. It is therefore possible to buy oats and fodder in the breeder’s store.

For the moment offering oats and fodder to boarders doesn’t count for the prestige. However, that will count in the future. Mashes count for the prestige the same way health mashes did previously.

Thank you

Pasture Cleanliness, Yay!

By Ow, 18th August 2014 10:43:06 1
Pasture cleanliness is removed.

- Grooms only have an impact on the EC’s boxes.
- The maths to determine the energy or morale gain or the amount of food intake when a horse is put in the pasture depends on the EC’s prestige.
- Floods cease to exist and storms don’t have any destructive impact on crops.

Any mention of pasture cleanliness has been removed from the game.

Thank you

Crop changes

Click to display
Crops are cleaned up! Discover the changes that apply to them.

Alfalfa

- You can now grow Alfalfa.
- Alfalfa seeds cost 30 equus in the EC store
- The crop grows in summer over 7 days
- Alfalfa seeds produce fodder once the crop reaches maturity
- It’s possible to sell extra fodder you produce but you cannot buy any

Turnips, Barley and Flax

- These three items are removed from the game
- Flax crop remain but only produce bedding

The mashes

- The three types of mashes are fused together to make a single type of mash
- The ingredients to make mash are visible on the mash making page
- A mash can be sold for 25 equus at the EC store and can be bought for 50equus in the breeder’s store.

Other changes :

- The price of seeds and fertilisers is reduced as a larger amount will be necessary to grow crops.
- The price for straw bedding is reduced
- To balance the crop yield it is reduced for summer crops and increased for springtime crops

Turnip crops that are growing when we make the change are transformed into Alfalfa crops. Barley crops are changed into oats.

What happens to items I have in my inventory?

Turnips => 25 x Fodder
Barley => Oats
Flax => Oats
Energy, health and calorific mashes become => The mash
Turnip seeds => 25 x Alfalfa seeds
Barley seeds => 5 x oat seeds

Thank you

Ooh! MUST READ for EC owners!!!

Click to display
Improvements are made on the meadows to make the way they work a bit more logical.

Non fertile meadows are removed from the game. If you owned any they are replaced by a fertile meadow of the equivalent size except for the big non fertile meadow which is replaced by two medium sized fertile meadows.

The fertility of these meadows will increase up to 100% over a few days.
The size of meadows, the number of horses they can accommodate and the seeds/fertiliser required to grow crops are reviewed.

Below is the size equivalence for meadows, the number of horses the pasture can hold and the seeds/fertilisers required to grow crops.

Small meadow (previously 3 acres) => now 5 acres => holds 5 horses => requires 5 seeds & 5 fertilisers for crops
Medium Meadow (previously 6 acres) => now 10 acres => holds 10 horses => requires 10 seeds & 10 fertilisers for crops
Big Meadow (previously 15 acres) => now 25 acres => holds 25 horses => requires 25 seeds & 25 fertilisers for crops
Greenhouse (previously 6 acres) => now 10 acres => no horses => requires 10 seeds & 10 fertilisers for crops

You now need 5 droppings to make manure.
The price of seeds has been reduced.
The seeds and fertilisers you have in your inventory are multiplied by 5.

Thank you

I've heard that lots of people are hoarding dung so they can make more manure later. Seeds are probably a good idea, I read that they'd be multiplied by 5 later. I bought a couple of large infertile meadows. They'll be turned into 2 medium fertile meadows, and it's cheaper buying large ones that will be turned into medium ones.
