You can sell them!? But they disappear at the end of the event?? What's going to stop someone from buying a full-priced Ephemeral that they think is just a high-GP Appaloosa and then having it vanish when the event's over? default smiley :o That seems like an *astonishingly* stupid decision, unless I'm somehow misunderstanding how it works?

Oh wait, I think I did misunderstand, it's two high-GP Appaloosas you get as a prize for playing...? That's still in bad taste imo since even if it's only "near" the top it's still "buy your way into winning the GP race and jumping ahead of everyone who spent years of hard work and playtime" but it's better than opening up an event that just allows everyone on the server to scam people. default smiley (8)

They plan to award 7th-20th place in the rankings (where your highest Ephemeral GP is counted) – in this case – regular Appaloosas, 50-100 GP lower than the best horse (I think for this breed).

Future Ephemeral editions will use other breeds, so this will be devastating for less popular breeds. They can have their best GP as much as 2,000-3,000 lower than the best horse on the server, so the difference in GP between generations can be as much as 30 GP. For popular breeds (e.g., those focused on Grand Prix), this is also devastating, as there will be players who will want to take advantage of the opportunity to easily take over the breed's ranking.

Teams set their maximum GP that breeders can sell, and the game developers want to bypass this limit.

I think it is two different categories. Like "Appaloosa, which in future will be same as god and could not gave a foals. I never see info about selling to other players... Is it means, that every player can have own etermal horses and when they will go away, would be only one on account same as divine, which can't gave you a new foals...

So... It's not a same, yes?

The event involves breeding Ephemeral horses, which represent the breeds available on the server (this time, it's an Appaloosa). At the end of the event, you'll receive one, which will be a special horse (Heritage series), meaning it can't be bred or sold.



Another issue is the rewards in this ranking.


The reward for places 7-20 is a regular Appaloosa with a GP 50-100 lower than the current Appaloosa on the server. AmOwzing confirmed on the forum that this is a regular horse that can be bred and sold.

This will be even more devastating for teams on regional servers, as 100gp would be much easier to gain by players who've paid to win these new Ephemeral horses. Years of time and effort completely wiped out. It's not a "chance to show off your breeding talent", it's a chance to show off how much money you're willing to spend.

It shouldnt impact teams at all if my understanding from what others have posted is correct, the Ephemeral horses will disappear at the end of the event except the top one each player breeds which will become a heritage “divine” unable to be bred or sold. So it’ll be like another water horse or greek god just a high skill divine that will eventually be pretty useless.

These ARE NOT Ephemerals. These are normal horses. Check my messages above.

There's a lot to go through in this forum that I very well could have missed it, but while the season is active, is it known if the ephemeral breeds can only be bred with each other, or if they are also able to breed with non-ephemeral horses? I suppose the comment about regional servers is especially fair given that 50 GP rarely equates to 109 generations on most servers (in some cases it is simply 1). I can imagine the pushback if ephemerals are able to breed with non-ephemeral horses given that it would make the difference between a temporary pinch and a permanent wipeout for the leading team.

Maybe I read with close eyes, but there is nothing information about selling to other people.

So we could not sell anything of them.

And we could not bred it, when the horses are gone and we will have only one, which became spesial.

So Teams are in safe.

You get an Ephemeral, which is a divine, at the end of the event just for having bred 5 foals of your Ephemerals. As a divine, those are useless decoration with no functionality.
Then for the GP ranking two of the prizes are high GP Appaloosas, which are NORMAL; BREEDABLE and SELLABLE horses that are 50 to 100 GP away from top GP.

Ephemeral horses cannot be bred with other horses, but they have low GP (if I remember correctly, they start at 350). The problem is NOT the ephemeral horses, but the normal horses that are among the prizes.

The problem also affects this server; for example, Kerry Bog has 27,800 GP here, while the best horse on the server has 30,860. The difference between their generations is about 30 GP.

The point of my question was to see whether the developers had any safeguards to protect top teams from being completely toppled in the span of a season. After looking at the prizes, it appears that they actually believe that this is a good thing. I'm going to suggest that it is not, and I imagine that there are fairer ways to induce competition on the game.

On my primary server there are players who have diligently put their time and money into maintaining the same breed for over a decade—before teams were even an official thing, and when affixes had to be custom-made by each team member. Many of these teams have stuck around for so long that they've almost become institutions on their respective servers, and it's honestly an insult to those that have stayed long enough who now have to dread when it's their turn to have the rug pulled out from under them...

@xElis I misread, thanks for the clarification.

I think I am going to withhold judgement until I see how competitive this is. Because that is fourteen horses going out, so would mean a few things would have to line up in order to topple top teams:

1) The winners of these horses have to coordinate their efforts, so either reach out or know each other and decide to either start/join a team, because each player only gets one.

2) They will have had to spend — potentially, and this is where I am a little unsure — a lot of resources to rank that high in the first place so are probably heavily invested in the game to begin with, and would have to continue to push and spend lots of resources.

3) They still have to catch up and outpace the top teams, which will presumably not stop their hard work.

It just seems like to me the sort of people who are going to be in a position to win these prizes are the sort of people already heavily invested in the game. This might be different on smaller servers, so again I am not sure bur I don’t know I believe it spells the end of the current leading teams.
