Wow, they really do! Wild Mustangs naturally would anyway. This is like this Lusitano situation all over again default smiley (lol)

I really don't want my Gypsies to change though default smiley :( Their current coats are so beautiful right now, that's why I chose to breed them default smiley :(
I just came to say that I like the new Thoroughbred coat. I guess I got somehow used to them since I wrote my last post (well, the majority - still no fan of Gypsy Vanner, Mustang and Friesian), and I realised the old Thoroughbred and Hunter etc. coats looked slightly cross-eyed to me, while the new ones don't.
I am no horseman, so I can't judge how accurate the breed representation is.

Does anyone know what the donkey will look like?
These newer coats have more anatomy problems than the older ones did... I'm an equine artist, so of course I've got to critique them. XD They need better manes and tails, especially since most of them you can't even see their mane... The Arabian looks pretty good. The Thoroughbred looks too bulky and not thin enough. The Curly looks okay, I guess. I do like the new Akhal-Tekes, but they don't have the same gloss and shine to their coat, plus the tail looks way too stiff and not flowy enough. The Mustang...oh lord.. It's face looks a bit too thick and bulky, as does the neck. The mustang should be a thinner, too, since wild horses generally are, right? The Gypsy Vanner has close to no feathering which is characteristic to its breed. The long, curly mane and tail fit it perfectly on the old coat, but is now straight and shorter on the new one. The Shetlands are supposed to be stocky, with thicker legs. Its body looks too big compared to its legs. The Friesians are lacking feathering, like the vanners, but I never really liked the older coat, either... I think its neck should be arched out a bit more and not so close to the body, with somewhat thicker legs, since it is a draft breed. The Nokota's nose/muzzle seems to come inward a bit too much at the bottom. Other than that, I really like the new coat. The Lusitano coat isn't too bad, but it needs a longer mane that's shown. I can't put my finger on it, but something about the head really bothers me.. The new KWPN coat is very pretty, but where the tail and body 'meet,' there's a line where it looks like someone took an eraser to it. The new Icelandic Horse looks okay, but I think the mane/tail need to be a bit 'shaggier.' The Morgan looks good. The Knabstrupper's head looks too thick, maybe turn it more, like the older coat. And there's a black circle on the back, farther hoof. The Trakehner looks fine. Fjords didn't change a whole lot, but the forelock is a tad too long. The Welsh looks better, but the mane is a bit choppy. The Newfoundland could have a bit more feathering on its legs and a shaggier mane and tail. I like this one. I love the new Marwari. It's mane could be a bit longer, and the tail less stiff. The fixed Paint Horse looks a heck of a lot better. The mane and tail are a bit too scraggly and should be thicker and more flowy, and maybe raise the head more. And I dislike every one of the foals I've seen, the Arabian especially. The Lusitano needs a bit of a mane and it should be better/fine...

Most likely, though I've not heard or seen anything to suggest a change.

I'm kind of disappointed in the new coats of the horses I breed (PSH, Mustang, Standardbred), but I don't dislike them so much that I'll stop breeding them. I just wish they had the character of the old drawings. The mustangs looked proud, standardbreds were trotting it up, and now I just think there's something a little off about the PSH neck. Plus I think they (and the mustang) would look much better with a mane.
By Retired breeder, 29th March 2014 21:24:54
Is it just me that has noticed that the current coats look like they are from different artists

Wow. My question to Howrse is....Why are you taking away all the manes away? I never would have thought how much a nice full mane would've improved the Mustang's new coat.
