I think being able to see the tack on the horses is pretty cool, will it be able to be seen on GA coats? Hopefully there is a way of noting haveing to show the tack on the horses though

Looking at the most common breeds on this server, I see: 1 - Arabian, 2 - Thoroughbred, 3 - Paint Horse, 4 - Gypsy Vanner, 5 - Friesian, and 6 - Quarter Horse. I didn't hear many people complain about how the new Arabian coat looks, but the next five in the list are often disliked...

I don't know if this was intentional, but what these changes may lead to is that more people will stop breeding the more popular breeds and switch to less known ones, like the Akhal-Teke...

Does anyone else think this is odd?

I highly doubt that the graphic switch will cause a massive switch in what people are breeding [as I recall this same subject coming up when the coats were switched from the v2s] - as eventually, people get over it and learn to live with the changes.

While I feel it's more of a coincidence - I must agree that this might help some of the lesser used breeds gain popularity (but not enough to shift the balance)

ShorahNagi, I suspect that some of the breeds that currently share coats will change at some point in the future. A Tennessee Walker was leaked a few pages back. Another player found it by playing around with the official howrse.com urls. So who knows?

I'm hoping for a new Argentinean Criollo coat default smiley ^)

Howrse just ask about some coats they never ask about the others. They can´t make everybody happy but they can make the majority.
And the majority doens´t want the new GV, the comments show this clearly

Did it ever occur to you that perhaps your opinion or those expressed in this thread don't reflect that of the majority of the community? Or that perhaps Howrse can't change every little thing that people ask for because it conflicts with something outside of our understanding?

Also, what is wrong with them wanting our money? Owlient has 45 salaries to pay, it's not actually run by a single cartoon monkey sitting on top of a giant pile of cash, stroking a Persian cat and laughing maniacally.

I just had the most hilarious vision of Ow's Monkey dressed up as Dr Evil from "Austin Powers", cuddling Mr Bigglesworth... default smiley xddefault smiley (lol)default smiley (lol)

There are things about some of these coats that I am not "crazy about"... but there are things about the current coats that I'm not "crazy about", either. There were things I was not "crazy about" with the original graphics we had, too. And there were a lot of things that I liked about many of the versions of the coats. (I do rather miss the original Chincoteague. But the upcoming one is nice, and I like it better than the one we have now.)

The wild Chincoteague is the awful one, it looks deformed.

Whats going to happen to DA horses? default smiley :o
Just out of curiousity, are these character changes visible anywhere, like webpage and mobile? Or am i not looking hard enough? I see different complaints about certain breeds but am unsure how much (worse or better) they are.. For example, is it that arabs or thinner? Or QHs legs are angled differently? Im also wondering about if anyone else noticing that the horses themselves are looking smaller on the pages?

So are the coats in the spoilers real? There is obviously are perfectly capable artist working for howrse but if the aim was to make the horses more realistic and the conformation fitting to the breed...they've missed, not by much, just tiny fixes on the conformation would make a world of difference.

some examples: - akhal-teke, very pretty and nice build for an typical horse but not an akhal-teke, they have a very distinct conformation.
-the mustang I saw looked like it had lymph node infection or something, I suppose that's not unrealistic for some, but who wants to see it?
-quarter horse looks very good for the halter standard really, (doesn't suit KWPN much) all QH which are not the classic type are a bit messed up irl anyway, I'm so glad it doesn't look like one of those HYPP beasts default smiley :-))

Muting the shading doesn't make something more realistic, perhaps the artist had some problems with greyscaling the coats or whatever method they used but many coats lack the muscles definition and shine that really stands out of a healthy horse. Also many coats have quite dull eyes...

Okay I'm an eq vet in training so my standard will be different to others and you can't make everyone happy but I would love for the horses to look more happy and healthy. I am incredibly excited for the new coats and have loved most of what I've seen so far default smiley (l)

Just noticed my Peruvian Paso uni mares changed coats!! default smiley (y)
By Retired breeder, 28th March 2014 07:18:59
Yep My Lusitanos changed to so all the iberique stlyes have changed Barb, Canadian Horse, Lusitano, Peruvian Paso, Purebred Spanish Horse!
I have just confirmed that my Peruvian Paso DA has not changed! Yeah!

I have been arguing for weeks that our Diamond Apples would not be affected when the base graphics changed. I presented my evidence and argued the key points with absolute confidence. Still, it's nice to confirm that they are safe. default smiley :-))

Shettie and teke are to die for but devestated by the vanners and mustangs :/ wouldnt stop me from breeding them but does make me a little sad
I just did a little digging around and discovered something interesting.

Click to display
With these new graphics, each horse consists of five pieces: body, mane and tail, first wing, second wing, and unicorn horn. I understand why the wings and unicorn horn would be separate pieces. It would make potions and other promos that offer rewards for removing horns and wings much easier. What I find most interesting is that the body is a separate piece from the mane and tail. Hmm... That makes sense when you consider adding and removing rubber bands, but it also presents another possibility. Now, this is just pure speculation based on no evidence other than snooping around the media files, but what if... What if Howrse were to introduce different mane and tail styles at some point in the future? Perhaps they aren't even considering it at this time at all. But the possibility is now wide open!

Can anyone tell me honestly because I have looked like everywhere. Where are they showing all these new coats?

All I know is my KWPN's have changed, which by the way look awesome, but I don't know where to find all these other new looks that everyone keeps posting and talking about.

If anyone knows, please could you tell me?
By Retired breeder, 28th March 2014 10:50:57
Oh jeez, you can tell which one they took their time on and which one they rushed.
