Hmm, I like the currents coats for TB, Canadian/PSH and Gypsy Vanners better than the ones they are showing in v2.

Really have to wonder why these new coats are introduced to us in this way. Why can't we see them in some official channel like in the Inside Howrse blog? It's frustrating to seek the pictures here... (for those who have the same problem: new horse coats are on page 103). Yeah, I know that Ow doesn't really control what things are revealed in this topic, but new coats is such an interesting subject that it would have been a smart move to publish them in some other way.

Also have to say that some of the new coats are just horrible compared to the old ones (Mustang, Shetland, Friesian and Hackney on my opinion). The new Paint horse coat looks awful too, but I don't like the old one either.

The rest of the new coat are at least ok or even better than those old ones. So I'm not totally giving the thumbs-down, but criticizing some.

Of course not, I was just pointing out how ridiculous it is to complain that breeding groups have horses with oh-so-much-higher-gp, especially when talking about newly introduced breeds.

Everyone gets the same horses, so everyone can take the effort to get high gp horses if that is so important to them. And if it is not important enough to take the effort, then they should stop complaining!

The Friesian coat on the test server is hideous.. And I know what is on the test server might not be the final anything and i reaaaly really hope it isn't I've posted some image comparisons in the spoiler box below

Old Coat

Actual Friesians

Test Server

The crest or top of the neck is to round to something i don't really know all the terminology but the Current one IS better so I really hope this is not used.

wow the old coat look just like the real one
The Friesan body actually looks better in the topline and hip. Give the new one the old one's leg feathering, neck and shiny coat and it would be awesome.

How come we didnt get that coat? I really liked that coat so I voted for it, it's cute, but nobody voted for this new weird one that they have out of nowhere given us instead?

I feel kinda cheated that we voted on one coat, which was nice, and now they're all like LOL JK, we are giving you THIS ONE INSTEAD!
I'm sure if this new one went to voting it wouldn't win.

I think they should stick with the nice QH coat from the original parade promo that everyone voted for!!
I agree swagon. I didn't even vote to change the QH, but even then the promo one looks better then this hybrid between a QH and a appendix QH. (big difference you know)

Its obvious that they took away defining breed characteristics like the feathers from the vanners and friesens this must be for the silly tack improvements...so we lose decent lookingbase horses so we can put leg bbandages on them..default smiley (n)default smiley :@

I know this was written a while ago, but it really is a very good point.

Oh my Lusi's! default smiley :'( They look okay, but no mane! No mane even thought the Lusitano's are supposed to have long manes normally.
It must just be because I specialise with polo ponys and we cut their mane off , but the PSH are one of the few improvements in my opinion default smiley (lol)

And of course, when a new breed is introduced, Howrse picks a breeding group and gives them foundie horses with 550 gp instead of the 350 gp foundies that everyone else gets, to make sure that nobody else can go and breed high-gp horses of that breed ...

Stop trying to start arguments.

The voting example QH/Paint looks much less like a QH or Paint that the "new" version. The voting version looks like a TB.

Here is a complaint I have sent to howrse:

Title : The new howrse coats - a terrible idea
Date created : 20th March 2014
Status of the request : Request received
Description : Dear owlient,

i a afraid this complaint is rather long, but I recommend to you that it will be a worthwile read as it voices the majority feedback on the new coats found in the events forum. Please read all of this before responding. Thank you very much for your patience.

In the events forum, I have noticed that there will be new howrse coats coming (someone said that it could possibly be coming at the end of this month. I am writing (or typing, rather) to tell you that it is not a very good idea - and I am not alone - practially everyone who responded to the topic agreed that most of the new coats may be one of the worst ideas that the howrse team have come up with (however, some of them were regarded as an immense improvement to the v2 coats).

For example, your players have said things like (taken directly from the spoiler forum)

And here's another...

Truly horrible!! They look like they were drawn by someone who hates horses!! They did not even try to capture expression. Honestly, if the horses looked like this when I joined I would never have joined in the first place!!
Howrse what are you thinking??????
Again truly horrible renditions.

I have made neither of these up, but there are a lot of posts out there that seem remotely similar to those two posts above. In fact, so far, I have only found 3 positive posts about the coats (out of the many hundreds I seem to have stumbled upon).

I can agree that it may seem rather annoying to have a complaint sent to you after spending a lot of effort (and maybe money) into this, but some players have even suggested quitting if the new coats come out, stopping breeding specific breeds (which the once pretty coats have been changed to reletively not very nice coats), and buying more golden apples (I know that players buying golden apples will help you make money because players will be buying and spending more passes, but have you considered how the players might FEEL?).

Also, I know that you have let us vote on which coats we would like in the events forum a while ago, there were only 4 of them then (basically just the pretty ones), which isn't a particularly fair decision. Also, as one of the players have mentioned, one of the coats that we voted on has been changed into a not very nice coat, and he/she feels 'cheated' and so do I.

Therefore, I am coming up with a suggestion that you let us vote on every new coat that you have come up with and letting us compare it with the old ones, asking us which one we prefer.

I hope you will consider my suggestion and thank you for having the patience to read this!

The coats are going to change wether you like it or not. Players have complained, just like this, with any graphic change. Send in all the complaints you want but it isn't going to stop the changes. I like most of the new coats. Most look more realistic to me than the current ones.

Wow lucky players... So I assume these blessed people have been granted special favours by the Howrse gods to sell raw materials - something everyone else is exempt from. I see your point now. When I wrote 'excess items you produce' I was naturally talking about crafted items, not raw materials... Because if I was talking about raw materials you would have proved my point about the the extra items howrse is introducing having a net cost of 0 equus and that is just not possible - kinda like dividing by 0

Those players aren't crafting anything, either, they are simply selling everything. No crafting, just selling. That isn't what you brought up initially. You brought up crafting.

If you are crafting items it tends to be a net loss overall, not a net gain or breaking even. If you get lucky you break even, but I wouldn't bet the house on that happening. That also assumes you have enough of a stockpile to have extra items to sell, in the first place. In the crafting game you are more likely to run into a shortage of needed items that cost more than what you have can sell for, especially if what you have is what everyone has extra of.

Basically, the crafting game runs in the red if you are crafting items you need to use. In this case it's likely you won't see much of a profit for a while if you are crafting items for your own use even if you sell extra materials you don't need, either at the moment or projected to not need.

The players that are likely to make the most are the ones who will play the market buying low and selling high.
