Click to display When the BLUP is recalculated, what kind of BLUP do you need to get the highest Genetic Potential? Click to display anything less than 100 will give you less gain.
"If the parents' BLUP is below 100, the GP gain is weaker than before, whereas if the parents' BLUP is 100, nothing changes."
"nothing changes" I take to mean that you get the same gain at 100 under the new system as we do now.
This chart posted in the updated change log might help clear it up a bit, though I had to stare at it for 5 minutes until I understood it
Also, the grammar might be off a bit as it hasn't been fully translated. Google translate took GP and called it "PG".

Click to display Does anyone know when the BLUP change will happen? Click to display generally it's released around the same time as the event we're testing it with. So probably when the Cards come, which will be after the Potions. So maybe the first week of November

Click to display No, you'll get *less* gain if you breed at *less than* 100 blup. It provides more incentive to breed for 100 blup. Right now lots of players just stop at 70 if they only want GP gain. However, with this change, 70 blup (should/will?? always) give you less gain than 100 will. Also, the points are distributed differently so if you typically only get to 70 blup by bolding and aging to 10 alone, doing those actions under the new system will only get you to 60. But if you always breed at 100 Blup anyway, then it seems like this change shouldn't affect you at all. Well that's kind of... Wow...

hirvijenta:
Click to display The "funny" thing is; this messes up ALL new teams that want to become nr1 or place in the team rankings. Right now, if you have the resources and manpower, you can get within 50gp-range of the top team (this depends on the breed, if its Prix breed or not, and if the breed is classical or western style), but it is fully possible, since you can 50 or 70 blupp-spree and boom you can be near the top very very fast. With this changes, the new teams with have to waste a LOT of recourses (MA, AP and IRL-time) to get to 100, with will keep them always several steps behind. This also undoes Howrses weirdo gp-update for Fjords that I never understood in the first place.... (someone correct me on the fjord-gp-part, never kept an eye on that one). ANd if you are a solo breeder, then good luck surviving with this. And training means less with those changes? WHY!? It doesn't make any sense at all!

Click to display I'm kind of upset by this, because I've trained on getting faster at blupping for months on end (mostly just to have a goal to work towards, but it's also a handy thing to have in for example a war), and now I feel like I'm finally in a good time frame with 50-60 blup in 5-6 minutes, and now this happens? Not cool my friends. Also, training already counts little enough. How about we just remove training as a whole with this? Grr..

This is in my opinion one of the worst changes of Howrse by far!!!

Will we
Click to display get a message with the new BLUP change? Also, does that mean it will be posdible to breed in the neagative GP again? |
Click to display So, if you aren't a competitive breeder and you already blup to 100 before breeding, the change won't really make much of a difference in your game? At least that's what I'm understanding from reading this.

Will we Click to display get a message with the new BLUP change? Also, does that mean it will be posdible to breed in the neagative GP again? Click to display Breeding down to negatives is impossible, since no matter how small the GP gain is,there is that small "auto-gp-gain" that makes the foal always have higher gp than the parents.

I know about the current GP gain I was just wondering
Click to display if the BLUP change was going to make it possible to breed negative GP again. But I guess it won't. I just saw (a few topics earlier) that it was just redistributing the points. |
Here is a test I did. Keep in mind, I'm not sure how accurate this is, and would like to run some more tests.
Click to display I used the same parents, but bred a few foals from them. Foal 1 had 4196.58 Foal 2 had 4195.06 Foal 3 had 4200.38 Dam had 4173.47 with 72.07 Blup Sire had 4161.84 with 70.12 Blup I don't have access to these same horses on the live server as I bought the parents, which were the closest to 70 Blup I could find at the moment so I input the parent's values into the Howrse Plus calculator, which is usually pretty accurate and takes the gains of the GP your working with into account. According to the calculator, under our current system the foal would have an average GP of 4216.69 with around 70 Blup. Meaning the new difference in GP between breeding at 70 blup now, and breeding at 70 blup under the new system would be about 16-20 points And had I bred them at 100 blup we would get an average GP of 4224.98, which is over 20 points difference from breeding at 100 and 70 under the new system. Grant it, I'm not sure how accurate this is, and I'd like to test it some more, but I suppose that provides a bit of an idea, maybe. In regards to the actions needed to get to 70, both horses above had the 3 skills bolded, were aged to 10 and had 8 wins. So you'll now need to get about 8 wins if you want to reach 70.

Click to display So, if you aren't a competitive breeder and you already blup to 100 before breeding, the change won't really make much of a difference in your game? At least that's what I'm understanding from reading this. Click to display The GP you get when breeding at 100 won't change. It's just that breeding at less than 100 will give you less gain so there is a bigger incentive to breed at 100. I know about the current GP gain I was just wondering Click to display if the BLUP change was going to make it possible to breed negative GP again. But I guess it won't. I just saw (a few topics earlier) that it was just redistributing the points. Click to display the automatic gain is still built in. By "redistribution of points" I mean that where before you get something like 30 Blup points from winning comps, you'll now get more for that, and less from bolding skills. They are making aging the horse and winning comps worth more.
Which is why under the new system only bolding the top 3 skills and aging the horse to 10 will only get you to 60 blup instead of 70. If you want to reach 70 you'll need at least 8 wins on top of that

Another future change the majority don't want niiiiicee
|
No, it won't. Your spoiler Click to display Which is why under the new system only bolding the top 3 skills and aging the horse to 10 will only get you to 60 blup instead of 70. If you want to reach 70 you'll need at least 8 wins on top of that. I really can't see how difficult that would be. Wins are easy if you blup right.

Click to display I fully BLUP anyway (unless I'm breeding 'junk' for my AP farmers). So this change really means nothing for me. |
Meandmyhorse
Click to display This will affect teams mostly. Single blupers who just do the odd horse, mainly for competition will not be affected at all. Teams will now have to put in a little more work to get their foals to the same spot they used to go to.
