@peppermintponies, I have raised foals and seen them chew, it doesn't stick out that much. And why would you base the new foal coats off of chewing horses anyway? Then there would be a bunch of tensed muscles...

I like the Knabstrupper, the Ahkal-teke, Quarter Pony, Marwari, Curly, and Appaloosa. That's all.
Everything else looks clunky and sad. The foals /all/ look unproportioned and the eyes are messed up. The foals we have now are cute and lively and posed nicely.

This is just. . .honestly, it's disappointing. I know Howrse has worked long and hard on these new graphics, and I respect that, but would it have hurt to leave things the way they were?
No offense to howrse but some of the coats on the horses scare me.

A quick side note - why doesn't the Lustiano foal have a mane??
By Retired breeder, 31st March 2014 00:09:25

Ahh, thank you. (:

I read a few pages back that the reason they look that way is because in order to fit the new tack (they didn't say anything about the manes and tails....) , they had to pretty much cut off the feathering so that the polo wraps would fit.

I think there are some solutions to fix the problems with the new looks of the gypsy vanners and the Friesian.

They have 2 options in my eyes. Leave both horses bodies as well as the mane and tail the same as the previous coats, and the slim down the feathering.
OR they could keep the original feathering and then once the polo wraps get put on, it would change and the polo wraps would be on with no feathering.

few theories
1) might not have a mane yet
2) mane could be on the other side
3) the mane could have been roached (cut off)

i believe the mane is supposed to be on the other side. I'd like to be able to see it, personally.

Hmm, perhaps I should have said - why did Howrse make the decision to nix the one feature that could have made the horse look natural?
By Retired breeder, 31st March 2014 00:18:52

It is a vein ya I know, but on Howrse it looks like a scar
@ Speck0609 I totally agree. I love the new Lusitano body style (the adult one... I really don't like the foal) but the fact that there is no mane is not the nicest... it makes it look so unnatural....

This is giving me hope that they might also change some of the others.

The bodies aren't so bad, but I really miss the feathers and the generous forelock. Having them so . . . nude spoiled the unicorn for me. default smiley :'(

The shetties seriously look weird...but Howrse is being nice with a change...heh heh. Didn't know my shetties will turn into these...they look weird.

They really did take all the cute, cuddly... shettiness out of them.
By Retired breeder, 31st March 2014 00:24:43
I do agree that the Shetlands look sort of strange, I work with one and the mane is fuller but other than that the coat looks pretty good
By Retired breeder, 31st March 2014 00:24:45

Yes they did, I am just happy I am getting 2 UK shetlands in life to compare to the new ones on howrse lol

Shetlands have a certain pudgy-adorable quality that the new howrse model seriously lacks...
