Spice horse tips

At what stage is statistically the best to stop at if I get up there to get the prize the fastest? Since probability of moving onto the next stage decreases as you go up. For example, would stage 4 be best to stop at as it gives a decent amount of spices and progressing further would be risking too much, and generally stopping at stage 4 would give the best chances of filling the metre quickest.

What stage would be best?

And since you would get minimum 5 spices even if you fail at some point, would trying stage 6 just be better, as it would give 80 spices, meaning roughly 16 days of collecting just 5 spices would be gained, but the probability of failing even before level 6 is quite high.

Or should I just click for stage 6 no matter what?

As always, I recommend Kvezal's INT Howrse Helper for any and all information related to divines. It includes a very lovely organised and colour coded spreadsheet showing what level is most profitable to aim for depending on how many spices you still need to fill the metre.

But the gist is:
If you still need 80 or more spices to fill the metre: aim for level 6.
If you need 30-75 more spices, aim for level 5.
If you need 25 spices, then levels 4 and 5 are equally profitable; aim for either.
If you need 15-20 spices, then aim for level 4.
If you need 10 more spices, aim for level 3.
