Innate skills

Hello everyone default smiley :)

Wondering if someone could help me understand the logic behind the innate skills of a horse? Speaking more concrete, I bred two horses, both 100 BLUP, and used aphrodite tear's and a fertility wand, and both foals were born with more than 9100 skills.

Then I trained those same foals until BLUP 100, bred them together, used aprhodite tear's again, and even though they came with more potential, they came with less skills (around 8900). The same happened again now, with 2 horses with BLUP 100 both and higher potential, using aphrodite tear's, didn't reach 9000 skills.

Shouldn't it be the opposite? The higher the potential, the higher the skills?

Innate skills are based on GP and BLUP, yes. However, there is also a slight random factor--you may have gotten at the top of that random range with your first pairing, and then at the bottom with your next two. In other words, it may just be bad luck.
