It’s been a long time coming… But we’re back for a new Q&A session on our Discord server!

For this Q&A session, we're giving you two themes for your questions:

The Ascent of Olympus

The future of the game

Do you want to know everything about the Ascent of Olympus, how horses are chosen, how bosses are designed, how this game mode will evolve,…?

Do you want to know what our plans are for the future of Howrse, for the mobile version of the game, or if there are any new events planned,…?

Then, visit our Discord server and post your questions in the #game-dev-qa channel.


When joining Discord for the first time, you’ll need to read the server rules and react to them by clicking on the horse emoji . Only then will you be able to access all of the channels.

If you don't want to join Discord, you can post your questions on this topic and ask other players to post them on Discord for you. Only questions from Discord will be taken into consideration.

Couldn’t agree with you more, Nalu93! I really dislike the fact that so many things related to this game aren’t actually taking place in the game! It completely alienates a large group of players.

One thing I was quite shocked when I returned was the tax system. I understand it was designed and brought in to reduce "inflation" but for someone who was starting out again it was and still is, quite a burden and very frustrating.

Equus I can somewhat understand, but passes being taxed I think it's quite unfair.
As someone who is a pass buyer, and given you a lot of money, its hard to know you arent getting more bamg for your buck in the sales.

Where is the future of the tax system going?
Will it stay? It's hard to see the passes stripped from you when selling, and put in a piggy bank that, a) takes a long time reach the level required to unlock, and b) prices of items for equus are high compared to the games conversion rate of passes to equus.

Perhaps this need to be readjusted if it is to stay, such as tax until a certain amount, or your own equus reserve hits a certain level. Pass tax honestly should go, as this currency is 'valuable'.
Please look into this. I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels this way.

Well I refuse to download Discord to ask questions when there. are. forums. on. the. game.

If someone is nice enough to ask this for me, thank you. However it's horrible that Howrse themselves are asking people to post other people's questions. default smiley (d) You can obviously answer in the forums, Admins reply all the time in other threads :/


Question:

My question for the future of Howrse, is the addition of new events. There are so few events right now, it gets super boring and repetitive... On a game that already isn't very 'action forward', new events would at least add a little spark, no??

And the fact you've taken ones away, like the tiles and decorating... without replacing them? It's just really disappointing, especially for the players who look forward to new events.

Are you planning on adding new events in the future??

I don't care about either of those. default smiley (zzz) Why'd they even bother if the rules are so narrow and they aren't even going to post the answers on the actual website. Like gcat said, what's the point of asking if we're not gonna see the answers.

The second topic is the future of the game. Includes mobile as an example. But it can be anything about the future of the game.

Ok let's see if this forum is actually useful. My question is: when are you going to give us the trophy update that will add our precious collections back to our profiles instead of the worthless "trophy" replacement that have no meaning? Those precious icons had meaning and value, and some of us are still waiting for their return after you said that you'd look into it.

Or was that just to make us stop complaining about the Major January downgrade because nobody supported their removal?

another attempt to LOOK like they care but it's just another way to ignore us. pretend to take are concerns into consideration but do absolutely NOTHING about it. how about fixing the problems instead of trying to look like you care.

I do understand the use of Discord from one point of view. It is available to all players from all servers in the same place so will remove all the problems of duplications and various languages.

Against this I absolutely refuse to use anything with such a disgraceful name and from what I hear a lot of the content on it (obviously not the Howrse channels as they are moderated like our forums) is equally disgraceful.

My solution would be a completely separate Howrse server (maybe even a defunct one that has been closed) which could be cleared down and reset for exactly this use. Please someone techie tell me why this would be such a difficult solution in the light of all the objection from so many players.

It was done to reduce in game suspicious "trades".

Future of the game question:

1. Are there any plans to update/change the horse graphics eventually? Some breeds look good but I think there are a handful that could definitely use a makeover.

2. Will we ever get additional competitions added that require different skill sets? The gameplay when it comes to our horses has stayed the same for a while. There are so many wonderful riding disciplines that exist and horse breeds on this game that could have a chance to excel and become Prix breeds.

It's un-amusing that Howrse players are being funneled to other platforms like Discord to communicate with Admins or ask questions about the game. I for one don't want to get a Discord. I like this game because it's disconnected from traditional social media.

1. Are we getting the trophies back? The current ones are kinda dumb and don't inspire me to complete them the same way the original trophies did.

2. Are we going to get any new promos? It feels like we play the same handful and it's getting *very* old. I do remember a game from a few years ago (I think it mightve been called parade) where you got dress up a horse and then vote on your favorite. I played it once and haven't it seen it since so old be nice to get that one along with a few other news ones come into rotation

Will there ever be an in game marketplace? If i have something thats clearly worth more than the current maximum, why not charge a commission and let me sell it for cash? Same with accounts, why not allow someone who spent thousands sell it if they are no longer playing.

I also agree with this- especially in the regards of the vanners. the old art was better, much better. default smiley 8-)

I honestly came here to get off my chest my resentment for the absolute bummer that the halloween events were- they really drove the point home that the game is feeling redundant and hollow. also, i understand some players collect companions, but holy cow. this is too much. you've GOT to give us players who don't care much for them a better way of offloading these thing than just throwing them on ??? a horse?? > naming it to indicate it has the companion> hope it sells . idk maybe add like a "pet store" or something where you can exchange companions for ??Something??
